Jackson All-Star Tribute Line-Up Revealed + Promo VIDEO

Only Mary J Blige really. The rest are complete meh.

Jermaine needs to get a job and stop feeding off his brother. I am sorry but he has been doing this for years and i'm sick of it. Seems like the family are too

No thanks to Chris Brown. He too overrated, wants attention, and making his stupid comeback I don't want this new MJ title coming up again

Wait...Jermaine with virtual Michael? Damn. Jermaine better not be the only one getting a duet. He had his turn performing with Michael. What about the others who loved Michael and worked with him? Ne-Yo didn't even get the chance to have him material recorded. He deserves it more in my opinion.

vienna?

i did not know Angela Bassett was a singer as well....or is there another Angela bassett? hmm interesting...is it because she played Katherine in a movie? well, great actress.

Mary J. Blige maybe Natalie cole are the only two i'd be excited to see if i wanted to go.

the hologram idea was interesting that Celine did with Elvis- or simple video shots like Natalie cole did too, or how Lisa Marie did it, two duets with her dad showing on videos live for Elvis fans.
that Natalie cole idea really took off, did it not.

i dont know what to think of jermaine, but he was part of a famous musical group as well and if he wants to perform with his brother now, he has that right.

From KOP board:

UPDATE: Mary J. Blige's rep just told ET she's not going to be a part of the event.

i think someone made up all the stuff about whos going to be singing, did jermaine realse a statement yet

The tribute is magnificent.

But what is harming it is that Jermaine is pushing himself so much at the forefront.

You will notice that promoters never push themselves so much in the forefront with the artist they are trying to promote. They may push the brand name, but not themselves as a person.

This thing would have sounded better with "The Jacksons" organising a tribute for Michael Jackson

Now, the Jacksons are a brand, just like the Jackson5 name, and Michael Jackson is a brand.

But to have "Jermaine Jackson presents" and then "Michael Jackson"

Basically you have a non-existing brand trying to promote a brand.

That's like "Diana Ross" the brand presents the "Jackson5" the new brand

But Jermaine is not that.

Other artists would have been on board if this was done as a joint effort by teh family and not seen as one family member spearheading partly MJ tribute, partly self-promotion.

But i guess Jermaine won't listen and the organisers are working by rubbing Jermaine's ego to make it a success as he is the link to the Jackson family.

If the Jacksons jointly invited an artist to appear, then i don't see it failing. But here is one Jackson inviting major artists to commit themselves and there is no guarantee the backers have the financial muscle and major concert experience to put on a worthwhile show.

I just hope Jermaine treads carefully.

The only reason Katherine seems to consent to travel with the kids is to keep harmony as a mother, after declining Jermaine's other desire to see MJ buried at Neverland. It's hard for a mother to keep turning down a son on everything.

But this whole thing is being seen as Jermaine's project and he will brag about it for a long time, the way he bragged about the Jackson family honours. Humility is a quality he struggles to have.

This is ridiculous and getting out of hand now..When I heard that the Children were going to Vienna, I was in shock. Michael did not want his kids to be in the paparazzi's eye all the time. He only wanted them to see him perform at O2 arena and I guess it might of been 1 time. Why are they trying to get publicity out of these Children. Michael would not approved of this. I wish some one will honour his wished Please!!
I dont care what Jermaine does, so longst as he keeps Michael and his kids out of his fiasco..

Good Lord, and this is an MJ tribute???, ridiculous...

What the heck????

Jermaine, what are you doing? Please save yourself from further embarrassment...

(P.s. It bothers me that the shirt he is wearing is something Michael could have easily worn...)

well another site is saying she's not all for the show....so i don't think the kids r gonna go to that. especially if it's on pay per view. y be there unless they go on stage? let's see

and chris brown did thriller pretty dang good...like a modern groove to it. i loved it

I already said this and I'll say it again, this is all gonna blow up in Jermaine's face!

From KOP board:

UPDATE: Mary J. Blige's rep just told ET she's not going to be a part of the event.

LOL WTF is happening?!

First Chris (thank God), and now Mary?
I wonder where this info is coming from?!

Looks like ExoticPrincess called it. So far, two blowups down, how many more to go? Oh wait, Mrs. Jackson may not even approve....so I'd say that's 3 blowups in one day. This thing seems to be already imploding on itself. Sad part is it seems like a good idea, but dunno about the timing and the location and all the........."Jermaine-ness". It's supposed to be a Michael tribute, no? :ermm:

Anyway, I'd hate to see this turn into a disaster becuz ya'll know who's going to bear the scar of the failure...even in death. I can already see the headlines. Having said that, maybe all the Jermaine-ness is a good thing. If it tanks it will be clear that this is Jermaine's failure...and has no reflection on Michael whatsoever.

Ack!!!

My eyes! My eyes!!! Please - not that convicted felon wannabe MJ next to Michael.

not sure if this has been added...

Chris Brown won't be crooning "I'll Be There" in honor of Michael Jackson.
The "Forever" singer has put the kibosh on any plans to perform at the M.J. tribute concert in Vienna, hours after Jermaine Jackson announced Brown would be among the headliners at the Sept. 26 show.
"Chris is not confirmed to perform or participate in any capacity for this show," the publicist for Brown's label tells E! News.
While we expect Brown to commence his comeback after racking up five years' probation for beating Rihanna, we were surprised to hear his name listed with Mary J. Blige, Akon, Natalie Cole and Sister Sledge for the event. He would need court approval to head overseas and get a break from his 180 hours of community labor. Brown, 20, attended Jackson's funeral and has cited the King of Pop as a major influence.
There was no immediate comment from organizers of the Jackson tribute, but Jermaine's definitely got some 'splaining to do.

Good god I hat ethis chris Brown/MJ thing. There is no comparison. Chris Brown is some bubblegum pop autotune wannabe. MJ has talent

This thread is just one word:
Hate.

It's disgusting how some of you's attack those who are doing this to pay tribute.
If you don't want to watch it, don't. But please be aware that Jermaine is doing this for Michael. Yes, he may be doing this for a profile, but who else can organise an event than a Jackson himself. You're also attacking artists like Mary J. Blige and Natalie Cole, you are saying that 'they're the only artists that Jermaine can get', that's rude, they're both amazing artists and to attack their talent is something that Michael would not have appreciated at all.

You're speaking as if Chris Brown is an enemy to Michael Jackson. If it wasn't for Michael, Chris Brown wouldn't be an artist. So give him some respect. I'm pretty sure if fans from another celebrity forum were attacking Michael, you'd be damn well upset!

It's nice to give your opinion; but not fully attack the event.

I don't know about you; but I'm watching this stuff. It's time to celebrate Michael's music and achievement, and it's time to stop oppressing myself over his loss, but to celebrate the Man's music.

Singer says no to Jackson's Vienna tribute

Last Update: 9:36 pm

Mary J. Blige has turned down an invitation to perform at Jermaine Jackson's planned Vienna, Austria tribute to his late brother Michael.

Jermaine announced Blige and Chris Brown would be among the headliners at a press conference on Tuesday, but both have since insisted they won't be part of the September 26th concert at the Imperial Schonbrunn Palace.

Brown's spokesperson has said, "Chris is not confirmed to perform or participate in any capacity for this show," and now Blige's people have followed suit.

An aide insists Blige will be in Italy and not in Austria on the day of the tribute.

Natalie Cole, Akon and Sister Sledge are also on the bill, according to Jermaine.

Meanwhile, promoters are trying to play down reports that the King of Pop's brother is staging the Vienna show against his mother Katherine's wishes.

Event organizer George Kindel says, "She will be there with Michael Jackson' s kids."

Well I just think he is overrated and he is. You guys give too much credit. I'm tired of hearing him and MJ. all of his music is about Rihanna in an autotuned mess with various rappers that make mainstream music this decade suck.

I agree with you Jaywalker. I came to these forums for comfort but the negativity here is almost unbearing. I have never seen anything like it.

Chris Brown's spokesperson just confirmed he will NOT be attending this tribute. Brown is under court order and would need the judge's permission to participate and leave the country.

Jermaine sure has some explaining to do! I wonder if the others are actually participating. This is just typical of Jermaine, jeeze!

 This is just wow. Why even name CB and MJB as part of the show then? Didn't Jermaine or any of the organizers think of the problems that might occur being that CB is a felon?

EDIT: Am I the only one that is surprised that there isn't any bigger artists performing at this event?
Mary J is the only one that makes me go "wow".

No you aren't. Both of the two "bigger" acts has dropped out. I wonder when is the last time that 70s Disco group Sister Sledge performed. Its pretty much just Akon and Natalie Cole now. I don't think its disrepectful to feel that other artists would do a better tribute to MJ, but whatever. I guess Jermaine is doing what he can do.

Meanwhile, promoters are trying to play down reports that the King of Pop's brother is staging the Vienna show against his mother Katherine's wishes.

Event organizer George Kindel says, "She will be there with Michael Jackson' s kids."

I just wonder how his kids will feel, especially his youngest, seeing their dad as a hologram dueting with their uncle. Who knows. We may get a statement saying Katherine supports the concert but doesn't want to attend because the kids are still grieving badly, or something like that.

Great tribute....but make me so sad..:(
It doesn't matter who will sing or not, I think. The point is their caring mind:yes:

i don't think the kids will go....

i don't think jermaine anticipated these people cancelling....

and there's been some rumours that the family is pissed so y the heck would he say these people are performing and then they deny? could it be they'r ehearing that the family MAY not be happy w/ this show and are backing out?

the last thing u would do is confirm someone who is not going and then have them embarass u by saying...they're not going. so something's going on in the background....miscommunication perhaps?

but i don't think jermaine is doing this for himself. y some obscure place like vienna? maybe if it was in london or at the 02 more would attend, more would support, andmore would perform.

now i know when mj was here (ugh hard to type) fans were so against brown and usher....these two havesupported mj thru it all, even in death. so y the hate now?

he's theking. they're saying it now. they're screaming it from themountaintops....no one will replace michael j jackson sr. so what's the fuss?

i think jermaine whats all about him cause i think all this years cause MJ was so much in he media so he is so jeauaels a  that's my word

Jermaine whats everybody to feel sorry about him  so that's why he is going this i think he is waitting for year to do this

My first hope would be that this would be cancelled.

My second hope would be that if it is not, it would not be a complete embarrassment because that would be truly sad to Michael's name.

But I hope my first wish comes true. The worst thing is the idea of Jermaine singing a duet with a hologram MJ - and this so very close to his burial. What a travestly and how completely lacking in respect and taste - and how completely horrifying if his children were actually present for such a thing. Breaks my heart to think of it.

As for how it stacks up as a tribute - well, it doesn't. It's not even an original concept. This was done much more professionally and with much better talent at MSG and with Michael at a MUCH lower cost to fans. This has been done already and been done better.

If it were an actual tribute to Michael as a performer and humanitarian, why not for one thing charge a reasonable price? Then, also, instead of doing much more poorly what was already done at MSG, why not have people speak whose lives were changed by Michael's love and generosity? People like Ryan White's mother and people who represent charities that Michael has richly donated to and other people whose lives were touched this way by Michael. It could be done in person or using past video clips that many of the general public have not seen, or at least not in many years. This could be interspersed with clips of Michael's videos or performances with a simple spotlight on the empty stage. It would cost far less to produce and more money could be given to charity. If it were well done enough, there also would be little problem broadcasting it live for fee if needed.

Fact is, there isn't much in this about Michael or charity at all. It's more about Jermaine finally getting himself some spotlight all front and center.

I generally do not think well of LaToya because of the many things she has said recently, but I do give credit where it's due, and she did FAR more to celebrate Michael and his legacy of giving recently. She actually got out there and gave of her time and support to do something in honor of her brother. In that, she did far more to show love and respect to Michael than this "Tribute" ever could.

la toya's donating all the proceeds from home to apla...and jan's tribute won't even garner her money.

but this is just LOOKS to be in bad taste. now whatever his intention...y vienna?

I hope Jermaine can pull this off decently because he can embrass himself all he wants but please don't embrass Michael with sub-par mess.
(which is what this is looking like it is)
