I'm just trying to find an answer to the question of why no member of Michael's family accepted the award for him. We've been discussing that.

Michael Jackson Tribute

[Michael Jackson] Although many fans of the late Michael Jackson are still in mourning, the King of Pop will be honored on Sunday night with a special 3-D broadcast of Jackson`s orchestral ballad "Earth Song". Michael Jackson's untimely passing in 2009 left a gaping hole in the music industry, especially since Jackson was preparing for a return to stage in London for the This Is It tour. Various awards ceremonies have since honored the legendary King of Pop but Grammy producer, Ken Ehrlich, decided against a traditional artist homage at this year's awards ceremony.

Instead, the video for "Earth Song" will be aired in tribute to Jackson with Carrie Underwood, Smokey Robinson, Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson and Usher all tapped to pay tribute to the career and special talent of Michael Jackson. With such a beautiful song about the environment that speaks to the compassion of Michael Jackson, expect to see a lot of tears, especially when Michael's children take to the Grammy stage to accept the special Grammy honor.

Praying for Michael's children tonight. Sending them love. :pray: I hope they didn't go through anything extra sad tonight (if it's true they were supposed to appear and didn't). Hope they're OK. x

My thought did anyone from the grammy invite any family members, someone invited frank, dont know but frank is friends with john branca who on the board for the grammy museum.

We'll be there with them tomorrow... They'll get through it well I believe. After all they're Michael's Children, and they have rhinoceros skin like "daddy" :) God Bless them and give them Peace...They should know we love them...I hope they know!

im sure the kids are fine, Everyone needs to stop listening to news outlets whose sources are a magic 8 ball and a falmers alamanac. at this point the family none of them might not even be there, or were invited. Dont think or assume something went wrong with the kids by them not showing up. The media always has it wrong especially with mj

OK, I don't know if it has already been discussed, but Frank Dileo actually accepted Michael's lifetime achievement award tonight. I saw this tweet on the Grammy website:

But now i've been reading stuff that the children are preparing to say a speech for tomorrow night's show. So I'm very confused at what is going on.

WTH did Frank accept the award?!?! I would have preferred Jermaine over Frank and I know how everybody feels about Jermaine!

Oh God, don't start any drama. Joe Jackson himself said the kids have been working on their speech for a week..what the hell are you ranting about the family not being invited?

You can tell Dileo was a last minute addition because he was rambling and did not even have a speech prepared.

Some people live for drama.

Me too.

And especially if rumors about tomorrow are true. The thought of them being there tomorrow and addressing an audience and dealing with media has me worried sick. :puke: But it's not up to me and I can't do anything about it, so I'm just gonna sit back and send them my strength and love. :angel:

are you saying they did not bother showing up for the Merit award because it wasn't broadcasted?

You could tell Dileo wasn't prepared for this...He did not thank anyone really. MJ was in the business for 40 years...there must have a laundry list of folks he would have thanked.
At least Dileo, unlike Jermaine, remembered it was all about MJ...

But Jackson's family, whose members rarely turn down an opportunity to share his spotlight, did not attend the ceremony at the Wilshire Ebell Theater, despite speculation that some of his children might accept the statuette on his behalf.

Instead, Jackson's former manager, Frank DiLeo, did the honors, describing the pop star as "a funny guy, he had a sense of humor like none of you ever knew."

Jackson, who died of a drug overdose last year, aged 50, won 13 Grammys in his lifetime.

I'm saying they were invited to attend , and there are seats reserved for them for tomorrow , if they are invited for the broadcasted show why would they be left out of the one held this night ?

either way I'm waiting for the tribute, it's gonna be very tasteful and emotional :(

Ok. I guess we'll have our answer tomorrow. The people who oversaw the Meri awards are the same folks working on the grammes.

So, if they show up tomorrow...I guess you were right.
