Yeah, but the fact is MJ has been honored with literally hundreds of awards. And I know it's the Grammys, and that's special. But they sure didn't acknowledge him as they should have during his lifetime.
He's got about 15 grammy's, and 8 are for Thriller and a couple for We Are the World. That means he's got about 5 other Grammys for a body of work that span 45 years. Until Thriller, they practically totally ignored him. And after it and We Are The World, they did ignore him. That's why he was so driven. He wanted proper due acknowledgement from his industry.
Artists with lesser product are already closing in on his number of Grammy wins and in half the time.
I'm glad they're giving him the recognition he so richly deserves tomorrow. If they didn't, it would be a monumental slight, and they know they'd get hammered for it. Plus, they know he'll help their ratings. And yes, a family member should be in attendance, but if they don't show up, it'd be understandable to me. The Grammys certainly didn't show up for MJ when it should have.
