Here's an article:
Kimi is as fast as the wind - on a snowmobile
14.03.2009 12:02, päivitetty 14.03. 17:10

No matter what vehicle - Kimi Räikkönen is as fast as the wind!

Räikkönen took on Sat once again part in Europe's biggest snowmobile-event in Nilsiä. And even though the F1-season is behind the corner Kimi didn't chill, he cruised like year 2007 and became an enduro champion.

Räikkönen was really modest about his performation.

- It was ok, let's see what the position is going to be, Kimi commented.

- I didn't have the strenght to keep the gaspedal down he said to the other drivers who also drove with Lynx-snowmobile.

The truth when it concerned Kimi was far from modest because he set the fastest time. He was so fast that the experts were left far behind.

Kimi was in enduro the fastest of them all 2 years ago too when he attended this snowmobile competition.

The competition continues in the afternoon. Kimi came in 5th in the A-final, his time was the 7th best.

In the final the best race against each other. Kimi's position would be enough so that he could take part in it if he wanted to.

For clarification - Kimi drove in Class C.

F1 Rules Change: Most Wins Will Seal Title

This year's Formula One title will go to the driver who wins the most races rather than the most points, the sport's governing body has said.

The International Automobile Federation (FIA) said the championship would go to drivers who won the most races over the duration of the season.
If two or more drivers finish the season with the same number of wins, the title will be awarded to the driver with the most points, the FIA said.
The allocation of points will remain the same as last year's 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 sequence.
The rest of the standings, from second to last place, will also be decided by the current points system with the constructors' championship unaffected.
The FIA ruled out awarding Olympic-style medals, as advocated by Formula One's commercial supremo Bernie Ecclestone.
He had wanted the title to go to the driver with the most golds.
Sky News Sports Presenter Jon Desborough said: "It's just as well Lewis Hamilton MBE won last year because under these new rules he would have lost 6-5."
He added: "Let's hope no one driver dominates the first half of the season, otherwise the championship could be over by Silverstone."
Hamilton won last year despite winning fewer races than Ferrari's Felipe Massa.

From SkyNews.

I thought I'd be happy with this new rule that championship goes to driver with most wins but I only now realised that indeed, if some driver dominates the beginning of the season, fight for the championship might be over already in July!! I really don't want that... I hope we have lots of winners for this season.

I, for one, was shocked when I read this yesterday. ...:bugeyed

My thoughts and fears:

Yesterday I was talking about this with my colleagues (I warned them immediately when I saw the news :D) and one of them said:

Let's say that Massa would have more wins in the first 4-5 races and at Ferrari they have to give him the advantage and from that on Kimi has to play the supporting role. So early in the season because they can't wait for more races because mostly the wins would count. They can't say that let's battle each other till the end of Summer for example and from that on they can see who's doing better... :(

It can be true and I fear of it very very much... :(

Okay, the situation could be the complete opposite of this as well.:cheeky:

Or what if the Brawn GP is so good that they would collect lots of wins in the first half of the season... no one could reach them. :( Later they could struggle but they have the WDC already.

Or from now on the biggest teams have chance only because you couldn't be WDC with only 1 or 2 wins. Let's say that BMW or Toyota would be able to win races but not many.

BUT as I know Kimi it could be good also. Because he does everything for a win so if he has lots of wins (let's say the most :D) he could still be champion if he has 3-4 DNFs in the season with not so many points. He has to win a lot because I don't see Ferrari that reliable though I know that if he feels good in that car he can win with it but there could be DNFs also. If he has DNFs but wins too then his chances would be still there towards the end of the season not like last year.

Do you understand what I'm trying to say? Do you agree?

I think that Alonso is now out of the game, if we counted him in the hunt for WDC anyway. He can't win with that Renault so many races.

I don't see McLaren strong enough to win races in the first half of the season and so the others would score more wins and in that way McLaren boys (Hamilton I'd say :()wouldn't have time to catch up.

I don't see Toyota or Red Bull to score more victories in the season like 1 or 2 so they're out of the game.

Brawn GP - the black horse... ? who knows? Or BMW? I don't really know.

So IMO it would be between Kimi and Massa... I fear of Massa very very much, much more than before this f*cking new rule. :(

I think you have to win at least 5 or 6 races to have the chance to become WDC. Most teams don't have this "force" IMO. With the other rule you could have been champion with 1 or 2 wins in one season. See 2003 season when Kimi with his one win almost won the WDC against Schumi or last year when Kubica with his 1 and only win was a title contender (mathematically) for a long time.

My theory could be completely wrong but now I feel this.

Hey Kimi, remember your motto: driving and racing to win, nothing else matters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheeky:

All in all I believe in Kimi's passion, his determination, his talent that he would do all he can to win WDC again! :clapping::punk:

^ Yes, yes I agree with you.
This new rule has dropped out many drivers from championship fight because their car isn't good enough to win that much races, though of course we have to see the first race to know more about teams' speeds. Probably the meaning of this change was to spice up the competition for the win and though it might have done that IMO it can't do it to the competition for world championship because there eventually is less drivers who has what it takes to win 5-6 races.

For Kimi, it's really hard to say now is it good or bad because we haven't seen him racing yet. But if they've managed to get Ferrari on condition that suits for Kimi and is reliable, the only barrier I see between Kimi and world championship is that some other team is better. And I, somehow, don't keep that as very likely option..

Really? And what about Massa? That's why I said that it's between the 2 of them but I really really have a fear of Massa. Though everybody says that Kimi's race pace is unbeatable. Even last year with that "bad" car he could manage to do the best pace during the races but if he can't win them then it's pointless to drive as fast as he can (with this new rule). Let's see if they could overtake during the races. Let's say how the qualifying would go. Somehow I think that Massa would do better during the qualifyings again... :( BUT if Kimi could overtake him either during the pit stop or during the race it's good. The question is: would they let him at Ferrari to do it?

I don't really know what to think about Brawn GP? What do you think? Are they that good how it seems they are? What do you think about BMW? What do you think about McLaren?

OMG! I'm really really looking forward for this season but I'm so excited and nervous...

No, I don't really see Massa that big threat to Kimi.. though he might be better in qualifyings, Kimi is definitely better at races and can handle the pressure etc. better. And I do believe that Ferrari 'respects' more succes in races than in qualifyings..??
About the other teams.. I really can't say much because we haven't seen them racing yet. But from the tests I would expect Brawn Gp to be in top teams this seasons whereas McLaren isn't. Though they probably will get better from what we've seen now.

FOTA puts proposals forward

The Formula One Teams' Association (FOTA) has called for instant changes to F1's scoring system as well as other methods to reduce the general running costs of the sport. Following a meeting yesterday (Wednesday), the proposals were discussed at the FOTA press conference in Geneva, Switzerland.

The proposals were finalised in Wednesday's meeting
FOTA was formed in July 2008, and represents all teams on the current grid; the organision believes that a new points system of 12-9-7-5-4-3-2-1 would result in greater differentiation and therefore more reward to Grand Prix winners as the current system seems the same difference between each of the top three places.

FOTA has divided its ideas into seperate sections of Key Proposals (Technical, Sporting and Commercial):

Technical

2009:
- Double lifespan of engines (eight engines per driver per season)
- Reduction in use of wind tunnels and CFD (computational fluid dynamics)
- Cost per engine of €8 million per team, per season

2010:
- Cost per engine of €5 million per team, per season
- Cost per gearbox of €1.5 million per team, per season
- Standardised KERS with a target price of €1-2 million per team, per season
- Halve spending on aerodynamics from 2009 amounts
- Specified number of chassis, bodywork and aerodynamic updates during season
- Banning of a wide range of exotic, metallic and composite materials
- Standardised telemetry and radio systems

Sporting

2009:
- Halve amount of testing (already in progress)
- New points-scoring system (12-9-7-5-4-3-2-1), to give create greater difference between first and second and therefore greater reward to Grand Prix winners
- Race starting fuel loads, tyre specifications and refuelling data to be made public

2010:
- Commitment to recommend new qualifying format (to be discussed)
- New points-scoring opportunities (eg, one constructors' point for fastest pit-stop)
- Further testing reductions (four four-day single-car pre-season tests plus one single-car pre-season shakedown)
- Reduction of grand prix duration to 250km / maximum of one hour 40 minutes (to be approved by Formula One Management)

Commercial

2009:
- More data sent to media companies
- Explore how F1 action can be more informative and dynamic for the public, like in other sports such as tennis and cricket
- Nominated senior team spokesman available for TV during races
- Improve team and FOTA websites
- Mandatory driver autograph sessions during grand prix weekends
haha Kimi would love it, for sure...:D

2010:
- Improve TV coverage

2010:

That sounds cool, one point for fastest pit-stop but I don't get why they didn't suggest one point for the fastest lap!

I would also rather see that pointing system (12-9-7-5-4-3-2-1), than the 'most wins win' rule.

I don't think that giving points for the fastest pit stop is a great idea. They have to do their job the best way they can but in that way they could make mistakes. Ok, they always try to work in the shortest time but still.

They say that giving point for the fastest lap isn't good because it's just one lap of a whole GP. As much as I would like them to give a point for that knowing how good at it Kimi is. He would've had 10 more points last year. Not that it could have changed anything.

I would like them to go with that new pointing system.

Watch this! Some amazing pictures from today!!!:wub::wub:

The medals system might be the single worst change ever made in this (or any) sport. Just think, a driver who wins two races and finishes dead last in every other race will be World Drivers Champion over a guy who wins one race and finishes second in every other race. It's completely stupid and ignores consistency.

Regardless of all the stupid changes they have made to the sport recently, I am still can't wait for this season to start. Go Ferrari! :clapping:

^^^you are right! :)

I can't wait till next Friday though I'm so nervous! I want Kimi to win, more than ever!!!!!!!!!!:punk::punk::clapping::clapping:

Yeah!! That is so stupid! I have no idea why I supported this system at one point

Can you believe only one week to go! Yay!!!!!

^^^ Ooh what a relief! That's awesome, hopefully they really 'postpone' it (and then delete it completely)

Wooohooo Kimi's Australian GP's preview is here!!!

A fan of a new car ----> nice title, isn't it? :D:clapping:

I enjoyed this winter break even more than usual. I spent most of the time with my family and friends in Switzerland and in Finland. Most of all I have also been training very hard and keeping myself fit in different way for the start of the most challenging F1 season.

This is a very difficult season to start making predictions, because of the massive change in rules this year. However, Ferrari has been competitive in testing, but the real test for the new F60 will be in Melbourne, when we are all back on the track at the same time with the same fuel load.

Only then we will truly find out just how competitive we are. More or less we need some more races to get a better picture. Albert Park is a special circuit and a special place, so, probably, it will take until Malaysia to find out which teams are really ahead of others in the beginning of this campaign.

Like always it feels great to start a new season. To put my helmet on and to start to race is something we are here for. The amount of testing has been restricted, but it has been fun, as always, to work with a brand new car.

I am really looking forward to the new season and to start racing again. It seems like a long time ago since the last race in Brazil. With the new cars it’s going to be very interesting with all that development and changes.

When you’re doing well it’s even more fun. But so far we haven’t done any races. It such a challenge to go to the first race and start the season properly. Hopefully things will go the way we hope for this year.

The new car has much less downforce compared to last year so it is slower in the fast corners. But the car has more grip in the slower corners with the slick tyres. Overall the lap time is similar to last year. Honestly I can say that I like the new car more than the car we had last year.:wild::clapping::punk: This is more fun to drive. It’s more like the racing car used to be some years ago.

The KERS systems is very interesting. It’s very easy for a driver to use. Hopefully it will help with the overtaking. The whole team were positively surprised that the KERS systems seemed to be working well from the first test.

Everybody expects to see more overtaking. I think it’s too early to say, if the aerodynamic change will help, while following another car close behind. We have to wait and see what happens.

For the driver and for the team it’s always nice to start well. Especially if you look, how close the drivers’ championship has been in the last two years. I won the 2007 championship by one point and the drivers championship was decided by one point last year, too.

So every point counts. In 2007 I won in Melbourne, but last year we had too many problems. The target is again to start to score good points since race one.

During the winter break I competed in two rallies in Finland with Fiat Grande Punto S2000. It was also a great fun and good practise for racing. But now it’s time for the serious business of F1.

Thanks for posting that, Kinga! Sounds good... I can't wait til Friday!

^^^you're welcome! I just can't wait it either! I am so excited! When last year the season ended I wouldn't have thought that these couple of months would fly away so quickly. I think it's because Kimi helped us to survive it with his off season activities. :D And they say he's boring??!! :doh:Tell me an other pilot who had so much fun during his holiday! :cheeky:

The Kimi forum I'm a member at announced a "toast to Kimi" project. We could send in pictures of ourselves with a drink in our hands and some nice sentences to encourage Kimi. Here's the result. I think it's amazing. I'd like it if Kimi could see it. It would put a smile on his face. :dancin: Watch the Hungarian guy called Zoltán with 3 bottles of champagne in his hands! :wild: He sure wants Kimi to win!

Cheers to Kimi!

Until September 2008, I knew nought about F1. It was only then (when F1 came to Singapore) that a short article in a Chinese newspaper reported how all F1 drivers progressed from junior races to F1, with the exception of a 'super-talent' named Kimi Räikkönen. So I knew I had to watch out for him. I watched the race live on TV. At first you were among the front, but the infamous Massa incident pushed you right to the back. But you fought all the way back to fourth. With four more laps to go, I was hoping you would push to third, or even second, or even first! But alas, we knew what happened next. I felt really disappointed, even though I hardly even knew you. Funny, it was after the Singapore race that I decided to find out more about your career and life. There are countless websites and YouTube features dedicated to you, more than I could ever finish reading/watching. Now I know why you are special - you are such an awesome driver, and a marvellous man with such a great personality. You never complain, and always find strength to fight to the end. You even lend support to your teammate, though you are thehttps://erp7ga.bay.livefilestore.co...6IQQDN_iKjOhXo0LaxBnLJkS4yxkWYsQRNc/30232.jpg champion. So what if the media complain that you do not talk, I just find your short remarks so apt and funny. I also see that you live your life to the fullest; enjoying doing things you like doing and will not care about what other people think of you. You are extraordinary as a person and sportsman, standing out from all the rest. If not for you, I would not be following F1 so closely. With fiercer determination and a car you are happy with, I believe you will be top again, where you truly belong. It is a shame that I missed the opportunity to share the joy you had in 2007. But I am sure all your fans will be so proud of you in 2009, when you will be champion again! We know that you are the best and you know that you are the best! P.S. Let us applaud Saima for doing such a good job, and letting us have the opportunity to make a toast to Kimi, expressing our heartfelt feeling for our hero!
~ Hazel Yeong - Singapore

Kimi Raikkonen, what can I say about you, your luck. What can I say about how much happiness flew inside me when I saw you cross the line with your red car winning a race. Much more happiness flew inside me when I saw you attacking your rivals. All I can do is pray for you and wish you all the best luck ever. You deserve more than two world championships, so we will accept two for now. Keep flying Kimi and do not stop.https://erp7ga.bay.livefilestore.co...gCHzpzy7BSJS_pDa-mKZWcpbqXZejA/diapob_337.jpg

Here's to you Kimi! Best of luck for 2009! We all hope to see you at the top by the end of the season. If not, your still the best out there as far as I'm concerned. Don’t stop being yourself and don't forget there's a lot fans pulling for you no matter what. Go get 'em Kimi! Keep Flying!
Thanks,

I am rather excited about the new shirt I designed hot off the press! My neighbour screen printed it for me, so I proudly show off my "world premier" Kimi shirt. Kimi is No. 1, has always been the number 1 to us and will win back car number 1 this season! Good Luck Kimi! Let's kick start 2009 with a toast and salute to you! See you at Albert Park, Melbourne!

I hope that this will be your best season ever! I hope that you will be rewarded for your hard work and that you will really enjoy your racing as much as I enjoy watching you! I hope that you will experience good health, happiness, a magnificent car set up to your taste, supporting team members, no mechanical failures, good luck and an overall enjoyment of F1 (even with the ever-present reporters around you). Yeah, Williams cars seems to be very good so are Brawn GP and Toyota. They have those different diffusors, I don't know whether they have the advantage because of them or not... :( Kimi was flying in the first practice, he was 1st till the very last minutes but then the 2 Williams car overtook him. But only by 0.062, that's nothing. In the 2nd they said they tried something different which didn't work. We'll see. I'm more than nervous. :bugeyed

Oh, please Kimi, beat Massa at least!!!! You have to!!!:clapping:

OMG I love F1!!
Ahh what a great feeling it was to sit on the couch again and cheer for my favourite drivers!

I am so happy that there seems to be many teams this season who are able to win races! It makes the whole sport more interesting!

I hope from the bottom of my heart that Kimi will do better in the race and that Ferrari doesn't have any searious problems.. At least we know now that McLaren really has some troubles  I feel bad for Heikki :(
But on the other hand I'm happy for Nico, he finally has some chances to really race for the win!

I can't wait for tomorrow!

Toyotas sent to back of grid for wing infringement

The Toyotas of Timo Glock and Jarno Trulli will start Sunday’s Australian Grand Prix from the back of the grid after stewards found their cars to be in contravention of the rules. They had qualified sixth and eighth respectively.

A post-qualifying inspection by the FIA found the TF109s’ to have ‘extreme flexibility’ in their rear wings, thus breaking Formula One racing’s technical regulations. Glock’s and Trulli’s qualifying times were cancelled as a result.

"The Stewards have received a report from the Technical Delegate that the upper rear wing elements of cars No. 9 and 10 are showing extreme flexibility in contravention of Article 3.15 of the 2009 Formula One Technical Regulations,” said the FIA.

"The Stewards have heard the explanation from a representative of Panasonic Toyota Racing and have examined the cars in question.

"The Stewards concur with the opinion of the Technical Delegate and find the cars contravene the requirements of Article 3.15 of the 2009 Formula One Technical Regulations.

"It is the Stewards decision that cars number 9 and 10 be excluded from the Qualifying Session Official Classification."

According to Article 3.15, wings must be 'rigidly secured' to the sprung part of the car and not have 'any degree of freedom'.

Also:

McLaren's Lewis Hamilton will start his first Grand Prix as reigning world champion from the back of the grid following a gearbox change in Melbourne. Hamilton, who had qualified in 15th, will now start Sunday’s Australian race from 20th following the resulting five-place grid penalty. (He will start at 18th after Toyota's disqualifying)

That was really strange to be honest. We all knew that Brawn GP are strong, but that much? I'm happy for them of course it's a big sensation, it looks like they could finish 1-2. But I'm not happy because they are threatening Kimi's hopes for WDC. :bugeyed Vettel did an awesome job again! Well done! :clapping:

But Ferrari and Kimi. What was that? :doh:Again reliability problem during FP3, so he couldn't do more than 5 laps, which is nothing. He had to sit in the car in the qualifying without knowing the track conditions of Saturday and lost precious time. 9th is bad, and even worse if we can see that Massa is 7th. Even if Massa was quicker only a tiny bit. Ok, now the Toyota boys are disqualified Kimi and Massa gained grid positions. It's good for Kimi because now he starts from the clean side. Also we know the weight of the cars and it seems that Kimi has more fuel than Massa (only 1 lap advantage). But the others have more fuel and they could do better in the top 10. Even Button and Barrichello are heavier than the Ferrari cars.

If Kimi can't do better than Massa from the beginning of the season then we'll see another 2008. I don't feel it right now that Kimi could do anything special. I can't take another 2008. I'm too pessimistic I know. Let's wait and see how the race would be like. But I'm tired of searching for better things to cheer myself up. Simply, I want Kimi to perfrom the best because I still feel that he's the best out there but he can't show it for some reason. Do you think he would be able to overtake with KERS? I don't think so... but prove me wrong Kimi.:clapping:

I just hope that Ferrari could find a good solution for that diffusor thingy, better sooner than later. My biggest fear is that Massa is there. Nothing new has happened, he don't/won't perform worse than Kimi. No matter how hard I try to convince myself that he's not in the same class like Kimi. Slowly I have to realise and understand that he's good. No matter how it hurts.:(

I'm more than pessimistic. 2008 showed clearly that every race counts!!!! Every single point. So it's not good if they couldn't get the things right, right from the beginning. Last year what could we do? Only cry after the lost points. This year would be the same?????:(

The only "positive" thing is that McLaren are bad!!!!!
