^^^oh really??? I didn't know that! Thanks for the info. :)

Better not say anything...:cheeky:

Here you can see Kimi's Grande Punto 2000's in action!!!!!!!!!!!:punk: I got goosebumps while watching it! It's more than cool.:clapping:

I think he didn't drive it this time but was sooo great to see it still. This snow white car looks soo (ice)cool in the snow!

I can't wait this competition! I'm sure Kimi knows how to drive in these conditions. hehe he could practise a lot...:D

Gooooo Kimi!:wild:

In case you are interested, Kimi is doing extremely well in the Arctic Lapland Rally. Considering that he's totally inexperienced... it's totally awesome!:punk: He must be having a blast! He's having the time of his life, I'm quite sure! Have you noticed the irrepressible oversteer? The car was a beauty, considering the snow background.

Here are the results of the 1st day:

Keep flying, Rally-Kimster!!!! Woohoo...

^^^you're welcome, UpToMe! :)

Kimi did an awesome job because he was totally inexperienced in rallying and still managed to finish at the 13th place. He said they could test about 60 kilometres before the race.

It's impressive! :clapping:The boy can drive!:punk:

Among the ex-F1 drivers JJ Lehto was 9th, M. Häkkinen 19th and sorrily M. Salo had to retire due to technical problems.

I tried to gather all the videos and pictures one could find about Kimi & rally and thought about making a summary/compilation video about the last 2 days.

^ It's nice

And Kimi did a great job, many have said they are impressed by his speed at rally though at first they didn't really know what to expect.
Kinga said:
"Kimi on fire in Laplandrally" :punk:

^^ haha that's a good one! :) They should've written "Iceman is on fire on the ice" :lmao:

^^^Oh, UpToMe, thanks for this! I've seen it before but always nice to see it again. I got goosebumps everytime I see it. It's just beautiful, pure passion... These are the Italian people! I just love them! :)

What a coincidence... that you mention Maranello today. I was going to write about my excitement because yesterday evening we were talking with my husband that we are going to Maranello this year. He would like to take me there and I told him that OK, let's do it, but I'd like to attend the GP in Monza. That would be fantastic! I hope we could make it, I'm already too excited. Monza = the home of the tifosis!!! :) I just can't imagine how it would be like to be there at the GP as a (Kimi) Ferrari fan.

^ :wild: That would be so cool, Kinga!
My mum wants to visite Nizza and I've been trying to make her agree with me that we could go to Monaco on the same trip and attend to Monaco Gp :D But she hasn't agreed with me yet...

BTW did you know that Kimi's house in Kaskisaari is for sale? I heard it just today, I had no idea they were selling it  It's been sale since December 2008, still it hasn't been sold (they're selling it fully-furnished). It's the most expensive house on sale in Finland right now, with its 14.5 million € price.

^^I've heard about it that they're selling that house. It's pretty expensive, but hey, it's Kimi's! :) I'd love to buy it if I had the money.

That would be soooo cool to attend the GP in Monaco! Try to convince your mother, you have time left! I'll cross my fingers for you! :)

OMG! About my rally video: it has over 31,600 views so far!!!! :wild: Only within 3 days!!! :wild: I've never ever thought it would be soooo successful! :clapping:I was thinking about ok, it would get 1 or 2 thousands views. but nooo! I'm so happy and proud of myself.:cheeky: In a way I "advertise" (LOL) Kimi, his greatness and huge talent around the world. The video has thousands of views from Japan, Portugal, Czech Republic, Spain, Sweden, Hungary, etc. I got many responses, pm's from forums, from all over the world that how great this video is! :)

^^^oh, thank you so much! :) It's nice of you! :)

Do you really think Kimi has seen it already?

I've read in the news that Kimi will donate the money (14,5 M EUR) he would get for selling that house. Have you heard anything regarding this? If he'd do it, it would be nice of him. :)

But that's very true, maybe some have become fan because of your great videos! Probably because they have so many views! :clapping:
Congrats for your new career as Kimi-advertiser :cheeky:

Rome considers F1 street race proposals

Rome is weighing up a proposal for a Formula One grand prix through streets on the outskirts of the Italian capital, local authorities said today.

Former Formula Two driver and world superbike promoter Maurizio Flammini first had the idea in 1984 and has now proposed the scheme again after the Spanish city of Valencia and Singapore held street races last season.

"It's an idea Flammini has proposed and mayor Gianni Alemanno has said it is possible," a city council spokesman said.

The Monaco Grand Prix, which takes place through the streets of the Mediterranean principality, is Formula One's showcase race although Singapore's debut as a night race won rave reviews last year.

Flammini would like to see a Grand Prix in Rome from 2011 but any plan would have to be approved by Formula One's commercial supremo Bernie Ecclestone, who is not short of would-be hosts.

Ecclestone intends to bring South Korea on to the calendar in 2010 and India in 2011. He also wants a race in Russia and is under pressure from manufacturers and sponsors to reinstate a North American round.

Spain is the only country to have more than one race at present, with grands prix in Barcelona and Valencia. Circuits in Germany and Japan have agreed to alternate.

Italy, home of glamour team Ferrari, already hosts the Italian Grand Prix at Monza each year and held the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola before it was scrapped after the 2006 race.

There has been talk of more street circuits, with Abu Dhabi following Singapore this season and Paris and London mooted in recent years.

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has criticised the trend however.

"At least Monaco has its own history but to have three or four Monacos is too much," he said last year.

I noticed that only some more posts and our F1 thread will be the biggest in the GD section! :) The US presidential election has 1.428 and F1 thread has 1.395!!! Not that it counts anything... just for your information! :)

This is very important IMO!!!

Testing ban to be modified?

The on-season testing ban agreement is about to be modified, according to test team personnel who attended the recent testing sessions in the Algarve. With KERS giving a lot of trouble to some of the teams, as the batteries lose performance quite quickly and are still far from being fully operative during an entire race distance, there are now moves for at least three test sessions to be held during the season, to help improve the reliability.
As one of the measures to cut costs, the 10 Formula 1 teams agreed to cut testing during the year to 15,000 kilometres and introduced a testing ban that should start on the week of the Australian Grand Prix and go until the last race of the season, which will take place in Abu Dhabi. This was certain to lead to the disbandment of all test teams and there are reports that Renault has already started negotiating the end of contracts with members of their test team.
But in Algarve, the test team managers got together to discuss the situation and one admitted there were talks going on between the teams to allow for at least three test sessions during the year. According one top team member, "KERS is new for everybody and no one has achieved the level of reliability with it that we would like to have. It makes sense to have a transitional year, with less testing than before, but with a few tests early on in the season, to help everybody get on top of their problems. It's not on everybody's interest to see only five or six cars finish races, so we're trying to get an agreement on a change of the rules for 2009."
It has to be noted that the testing ban was not imposed by the FIA, but is part of a general agreement by all the teams, thanks to their commitment to FOTA. To reverse this agreement all of the teams will have to accept the change, and that's where the plan might find resistance.
Normally, though, the smaller teams would try to block this change, but there are signs that this may not be the case. Both Toro Rosso and Force India are not even certain of having their new cars ready for the test session booked for Jerez on March 1-4, and at this point have only confirmed they'll attend the following session, in Barcelona, one week later, so there's a good chance they'll get to Melbourne with just four days of pre-season running. They would benefit from additional testing in the first half of the season and, therefore, may be willing to accept this change. Also, whoever buys Honda's Formula 1 team will almost certainly get to Australia having not tested at all.

IMO they need at least few test sessions during the season.. hopefully the rules will be changed.

They say it's written in that article that Kimi was at a charity hockey match tonight. Here it is and some cool pics! Though I think that yellow doesn't suit him, he's too pale. The last picture is my fav. Those eyes...

http://viihde.mtv3.fi/uutiset/muut.shtml/795716?raikkonen_kimi
Oh cool I didn't even know that! :D

You can really tell from every pic we've seen him on ice that he really enjoys playing icehockey, that's so cute.

^^^yeah, totally!!!:cheeky: He said: hadn't he been a F1 driver he would have been an ice-hockey player. He also said that the reason why he quitted from practises was that they had to wake up too early and he likes to sleep! :) Plus he's too little and tiny for this sport. F1 is perfect for him.

IvoryKeys: Who knows what would happen to Honda? I quite liked Barrichello earlier but I don't like him nowadays because he tells ugly things about Ferrari. It's not fair and not nice. Even if that was the situation he had gotten many many money for being their driver and he didn't leave that team earlier. Why?

One thing I've always disliked about formula 1 is how much political drama is involved in it. And you're right. He said awful things about Ferrari. I just liked him as a driver more or less.

One thing I've always disliked about formula 1 is how much political drama is involved in it.

You are right! That's why I like Kimi. He doesn't care about these things in F1. He says all the time that he's there because of the driving and all the other stuff, political, financial, PR, etc., he just doesn't care, and won't involve. Some of them thinks that he's totally uninterested but IMO that is the best attitude, and he's right. He doesn't involve himself in any quarreling, he doesn't say bad things, he's quiet. That doesn't mean that he hasn't got any opinion but he won't offend anyone. He's always honest, he doesn't lie, if he says something he really means it. Every driver has the same (good) opinion about Kimi.

^^^wow! :clapping:That was great! I haven't seen this video before! Thanks for posting!!!:)
