KIMI on pole!!!!! Yay!!! Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!

:hat_wave:

It's Scuderia Ferrari's 200th pole!:punk::punk::punk::punk:

^^ WOOO it's great! :clapping:

Some bad luck with Kovalainen, again. I hope he does well in the race.

Can't wait for tomorrows race.

It would be great if Kovalainen could manage to score some good points... It seems he hasn't found the best set-ups for his car so far.

I hope Kimi will be able to win this race! He needs those points. I don't think he should gain self-esteem because he's not that kind of person but that would be definitely great for him I believe (and because of the championship also). After those 2 unlucky races without scoring points...

Massa is great so I think he should beat Massa first (both in qualifyings and in races also) if he wants to be a world champion again.

Edit: He has more fuel (at least for 1 more lap - or more - who knows ) because he didn't need to go into the final lap!!!! :)

Heikki Kovalainen gets five-place penalty

21 June 2008 by Keith Collantine

Heikki Kovalainen has been given a five-place grid penalty for delaying Mark Webber during qualifying.
Kovalainen held up Webber during Q2 although it did not prevent the Red Bull driver from reaching the final part of qualifying.
We are yet to see official confirmation on where Kovalainen will start. He originally qualified sixth, and would ordinarily be moved back to 11th.
However as Lewis Hamilton has been relegated from third to 13th, Kovalainen will start tenth as penalties are applied in the order which they are announced.
It makes it the second time this season both McLaren drivers have received grid penalties in the same race. Lewis Hamilton already has a ten-place penalty following his pit lane crash in Canada, and both were penalised at Sepang for slowing other drivers in qualifying.

Noooo!!! Heikki has the worst luck in this world, man!

^OMG!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't heard about it....... Poor Heikki! He really has a bad luck........ I don't know what to say, really...

I've read somewhere the following:
"Kimi Raikkonen, the reigning world champion has received a 5000 euro fine for arriving late at Friday's officially scheduled driver meeting. The offence is a breach of Article 37.1 of the 2008 FIA Sporting Regulations"

Kimi and Felipe said the following after the qualifying:

Kimi : I could have gone quicker...

I had quite a bit faster lap on the lap I came in, but the team told me to box it because I was fastest anyhow, there was no point to waste a lap of fuel," said Raikkonen, who has not scored a point in the last two races.

"That last lap I was at least two tenths faster so just at the last moment I turned in when I was at the last chicane, when the team told me to box.
"We had good speed all weekend the car has been working well and it has been a great weekend so far but tomorrow we have to finish and hopefully we can win because we need some points."
He added: "The car is so much different when you have no fuel. We have been working all week with a normal fuel load, so it is not always exactly what you want, but the main thing is to be faster than them so it worked out very well for us.
"The team told me to box it because I was fastest anyhow, no point to waste a lap of fuel. That last lap I was two tenths faster but the team told me to pit." "I don't think there is much in it on one lap the soft and hard tyre but over the race I think the harder is definitely the way to go and for us it has been working pretty well both tyres."
"I am very happy with this result, not just for myself but above all for the team. It is a pleasure to have taken Ferrari's two hundredth pole even if, at the moment, I have only played a small part in the history of Scuderia. So far, the weekend is going really well but of course we have yet to tackle the most important part which is the race, where anything could happen. The car has always been well balanced and, at least as far as the first lap is concerned, the performance of the two tyres is pretty similar, while the harder compound seems to do better over a long distance. If I was not to win, I would obviously be a bit disappointed, but the most important thing is to finish and bring home the maximum number of points, because we really need them."

Massa:
It was a good qualifying, especially the first two parts. In the third one, maybe I went a bit over the limit to try and get out all the potential from the car and I lost enough time to prevent me from doing better. However, I am happy, because we have everything in place to pick up important points for the championship. The F2008 is very competitive on this type of track and we worked in the right direction in terms of fine tuning it. Tyre choice for qualifying was not easy but so far, we have been able to be strong in all conditions. I am happy that the team recorded its two hundredth pole position today and it's an honour for me to have made a small contribution to this milestone."

I read that too. I don't really understand it though.

^^^

I know, I'm dirty....... Wish there would be more "dirty" pics of Kimi... I saw somewhere a pic about him in the sauna... only a towel was on him... guess where, on the "most important part" of his body of course :D

yeah, 5000 euros just because being late... Now, I know why these pilots earn so much money.:D They have to pay for their superlicense, they have to pay for the points they score, they have to pay penalty fees if they speeding in the pit, they have to pay when they are a bit late...

Yeah
But instead of giving them millions of euros earnings, why not just give 20 and then if you do something wrong, give 2 euro penalty :D
But seariously it's huge money moving there and honestly I think in the other world (=poor countries) could be much better use to it.
Of course it's not only F1 world that spends lots of money but this goes now little off topic so let's not discuss about these money things ;D

:D:D:D You wouldn't be their favorite spokeswoman/manager... 20 euros... That would be great...

Surely they could spend that hell of a lot money for nice things, to donate poor countries or so. It's nice that a lot of pilots give money to charities. Kimi does it too. ;D

His neck is much more stronger, too.

This was taken in March when Kimi was spending holidays on ship from Helsinki to Tallinn.

wheeeew did you see the start? Hamilton crashing into Kovalainen almost... or did he?! :mello:

It was a dissapointing race for Kimi again. :( Fortunately he could bring that damaged car home and 8 points are better than none. But, again, he could have win the race. Massa admitted that he could have been only the 2nd. Bad luck a bit, but luck that he could save those points.

Again he flied and made the fastest lap, it's his 5th consecutive fastest lap in this season. Is it a question that he is the fastest?

He could have done the hat trick easily... Pole was his, fastest lap was his... and the most important didn't succeed...

Lewis again:doh:

Kovalainen :punk:

^ OMG it always gives me extra heatbeats when I see Kimi's car is damaged and I was biting my nails and hoping he cand finish the race!
So must be happy that he managed to get at least 8 points, though you could see from his face on the podium how disappointed he was.

Good race for Heikki (finally) though he was so close passing Trulli in the end but no..
I'm glad he beat Hamilton.

edit: Oh, do you guys watch Moto Gp? Mika Kallio won there today :punk: :D

Heikki was great! I thought that Hamilton would beat him out at the beginning. He was too aggressive - again...

I watch only the 125 cm3 - because there is our world champion, Gábor Talmácsi.

That's what Kimi said:
"It was disappointing in the end. We had a good car all weekend. I was on pole and leading quite easily and then I had problem with the car," said Raikkonen.
"That happens sometimes. We were still lucky to finish the race and score eight points.
"On the last couple of laps the car almost stopped a few times. So even if it's disappointing not to win I still took eight points... and I'm in a more confident position (in the championship). A great the result for the team, just an unlucky situation."
"We car was slow in the straight line and out of the low-speed corners so it was difficult," he said. "But luckily we were fast enough in the beginning to go away from the others, and we had a big enough gap.
"Two more laps and we would have not finished the race. :wild::wild:As I said it's disappointing but still eight points is good for the championship and good for the team." "It was like having traction control. I didn't have power out of corners so it didn't really affect me at all."

Well I think it was demonstrated well... the only thing able to stop Kimi definately is the reliability of his own car. Well ok usually it's the same car only making him able to go this fast! lol
Well good race!!!! A ferrari double is what I really like!!!
:hat_wave: :hat_wave: :hat_wave:

^^^yeah, definitely good result for Ferrari, but I'm first of all a Kimi fan so it was a bit dissapointment for me. Had Kimi been the first and Massa 2nd it would have ended the results in the championship like this after Magny-Cours:

Massa 46 points
Kubica 46 points
Kimi 45 points

^^^so not 5 points away from Massa... but overall it's not that bad, could have been even worse.

Keep flying Kimi! Finally, the most important thing: keep the faith!

You can make it again! Be this years' world champion!

Räikkönen set for an engine change

Ferrari will probably change Kimi Raikkonen's engine ahead of the British grand prix in two weeks.

The Finn was lucky to finish Sunday's race at Magny-Cours, after the exhaust for the right-bank of the V8 engine broke off and burned a hole in the bodywork.

Raikkonen, who otherwise would have dominantly won the French Grand Prix, told reporters afterwards that he suffered a loss of power from his engine before it nearly stopped altogether in the closing stages.

The engine was due to be carried over to Silverstone, in accordance with the rule mandating a two-race life for each power plant in formula one.

Team boss Stefano Domenicali told reporters after Sunday's Magny-Cours event: "I think it's a bit ambitious to use (the engine in) another race.

"I don't know yet but I would say it is quite likely," he added.

Raikkonen, who is now five points behind in the championship, will not be penalised for an engine change for the British Grand Prix.

A new rule for this year allows each driver to have one unscheduled engine change without penalty.

That's a good rule :D
So let's hope now that Kimi doesn't have another engine problem this year anymore.

^^^yeah, let's hope all the best from now on. He had some bad luck, he had some mistakes, but he's the fastest so he can make it!!!!

 Imagine! One of our commentators is a really funny man, and he went like this yesterday when Massa took the lead because of Kimi's problem: "I can imagine that Massa in the middle of the night went to Kimi's car and held a chainsaw and sawed that component on Kimi's car..." :tease:
