Formule 1

What a crazy race again! lol really wondering what will come out there at the end of the season.

Now, that is Kimi - that's why I like him. Never looks back, never say bad things about others, always optimistic and never gives up!!! Keep fighting and keep flying Kimi!

Kimi Raikkonen
“There’s not much I can say. My race was ruined by Hamilton’s mistake. Obviously, anyone can make mistakes, as I did two weeks ago in Monaco, but it’s one thing to make a mistake at two hundred per hour but another to hit a car stopped at a red light. I am not angry because that doesn’t achieve anything and does not change my result! I am unhappy, because I had a great chance of winning. Once the graining had gone from the tyres, the car was going very well.
I have failed to score in these last two races and now it’s time to start winning again. There is still a long way to go in the championship and it is still very close and we have everything we need to regain the ground we have lost.”

Kubica: "I have to be grateful to Lewis (Hamilton) as he chose Kimi and not myself."

I'm wondering: was it on purpose?

It must have been a cool experience in the theatre. Will you go next time?
Yes, it was! I think I'm not going because I don't have too much money to waste :D
But maybe in Singapore I will go, that's the last race they'll show.

Oh, and I forgot to tell that Hamilton got a 10 grid penalty for the next race in France.

Well that's probably right for him but I'm sure Sutil's fans are wondering now why Kimi didn't get any penalty?

Kubica: "I have to be grateful to Lewis (Hamilton) as he chose Kimi and not myself."

When they showed it from the front you could see Hamilton turning his steering wheel to left. It might be that he tried to avoid hitting Kimi too but couldn't manage to turn his car in time but he obviously didn't go straight.
I don't want to think Hamilton would be so cruel he would have done it on purpose..

edit: We have gone over 300 posts!

edit2: What the heck does Hamilton's father do in every single race? Yesterday was also first time when Hamilton pulled the camera off, he didn't want to be photographed can you believe

edit3: Before the race begun, lots of drivers were licking their ear monitors before putting them to ears, why they did that? :puke:

I don't know what to think about it. All I can say what Kimi has said: it's not the same when you are driving with 200 km/h and there's nowhere to go and it's another thing when you hit someone with 60 km/h in the pit stop when he's waiting for the lamp to turn green... Maybe the stewards thought that he has broken the rules by wanting to cross the pit lane's line when it's forbidden.

Maybe that was the situation, or he saw Kubica and Kimi and he thought it would be better to crash into Kimi's car because he's more his rival than Kubica.

Anthony Hamilton is Lewis Hamilton's manager. That's why he always there but it's so annoying to me, because actually they show him more than the pilots who are there to drive the cars...

It was pretty funny how Lewis behaved to the camera man after that accident... other times he adores the camera...

edit3: Before the race begun, lots of drivers were licking their ear monitors before putting them to ears, why they did that? :puke:

It's easier to put into their ears I believe... It's pretty funny...:D

I think I'm getting to understand why Kimi wants to retire soon... F1 is not about racing anymore...:no:

They don't behave with Hamilton like they did it 2 weeks ago with Kimi. Is it just because he doesn't want to talk about these things? He's not yelling, he's not argueing, he's just shy and steps back... And I think I'm not narrow-minded and I'm not blind. These are the facts sorrily...and I think it was bigger mistake than Kimi's. But nobody said: what are you doing Hamilton?? OMG! OMG! No, no! You fool... etc. Our commentators said that it would be a talking theme after 20 years also, it was a very rare accident. They told also that it was because Hamilton is still a kind of rookie, after 5 years in F1 you won't make such mistakes. I hope that his "big face" would break down a bit, because he was a bit too much since Monaco.

Hanna, have you read Evenstar Saima's thoughts about this race? I posted it here on the previous page. What do you think about it?

Here's the interview with Kimi after the accident:

Q: What happened in the pits?

Kimi Raikkonen: "We made a good pitstop and got out more or less in front of everybody else. I was side-by-side with Kubica when suddenly somebody hit me. There was a red light, but I guess some people chose not to stop. It's a shame, a mistake from him, but there's nothing I can change about it."
Q: What did you think of what Hamilton did?
Raikkonen: "I'm maybe not the best person to say because in the last race I made a mistake. But this is two completely different stories, you can lose control at 300kph on a circuit and hit someone, or go along on the pitlane speed limiter and don't watch in front of you. That's a bit silly."
Q: Was this a missed opportunity for you?
Raikkonen: "We had a good car and we were in third place. We had a bit of a problem with the left-front tyre which was beginning to grain, but we were very fast when it started to work and easily caught up the others. When the safety car came, we were more or less at the front."
Q: Hamilton admitted he did not see the red light, do you think he'll apologise?
Raikkonen: "I'm not angry about it. He knows that there is a red light, and he should have been told by the team. It's a shame. There were two cars side-by-side and we were stopped, so..."
Q: What do you think about Robert Kubica leading the championship?
Raikkonen: "We've seen that they've been fast all year, more or less there all the time. Now they finish one and two, when things go wrong with the guys at the front, it gives them a nice lead. I think with our car we should be able to win races and come back. It's still early in the season, and we're not in the strongest position right now, but we just need to start winning races again."
Q: How was the track?
Raikkonen: "It wasn't too bad. It was breaking up, but they fixed it as well as they could, and it was better than yesterday."
Q: How significant a threat are BMW to you in the championship now? Raikkonen: "They are scoring points all the time. Nobody can count them out. Kubica is five points ahead of Lewis and Massa and seven ahead of me."

I think that too, it was definitely bigger mistake than Kimi's and it was so stupid! He should have seen the light. But F1 world is just so unfair..

Hanna, have you read Evenstar Saima's thoughts about this race? I posted it here on the previous page. What do you think about it?
Yes I read a part of it but it was so long that I'l read it again some time.. :)

Oh, he's Lewis' manager? I have always thought he's his father :D

He's his father and manager! :)

They accept that penalty and now they think that the winning chances in France is in Kovalainen's hand only. I'm wondering what he could do, and Hamilton, too. Kimi used to win with the McLaren car from the middle of the grid (or at least 2nd or 3rd places). I hope this won't be the case this time.:tease:

He's his father and manager! :)
Oh ok

I hope Kovalainen finally starts doing well in European Gp's, it's his chance now in France. Though I wish even better luck for Kimi..

Here's a great review of the race by Evenstar Saima from KR Space. I don't want to steal her words so here it is in quote. I couldn't have said it better myself and I agree with every of her words!!!!!!!!!
I just read it and it's very good article from her. I agree too.

I forget to post that it must have been very frustrating to Alonso to drive so many laps behind Heidfeld who had much more fuel than him, and then spin out..
I would have been so mad at myself.

I'm glad you agree with that article. :)

Alonso was having problem with the gearbox, so that wasn't his fault. I would give him a fair play award how he managed to go away from the track with that car. Hadn't he been so nice and fair (even risking his own life) it would have been time for another safety car period.

Ok, it's good that you know these things, seems like I don't know anything
Yeah, it was good he did it, another safety car wouldn't have been so good..

^^^Ok, I just listened to what they're talking about on the team radio. During the race they turned the team radio on when he made that spin and he said it to the team.

I see two tickets, who are you going with if I may ask? Or are they for two days..?

^^^I'm going with my husband plus 4 colleagues of mine - they are all Kimi fans!!!! Yay!!! :wild:

If you have some cool idea what kind of a banner I should make please feel free to tell. I would like to do something special. I was thinking about buying a Finnish flag and I'd write a nice note to Kimi on it.

With this ticket we could go to see the paddock on Thursday afternoon also!!! :wild: I don't think we could see a nice Ferrari though. They won't show it I bet.

Maybe I'll write something in Finnish (could you help me?). That would be special. Though I don't think he'd see it still...

Sure I can help! Just tell what you want to say!
And hey, you never know if Kimi happends to look at the audience before he jumps into his red Ferrari.. ;)

We'll get telescopes with us and I'll watch what they are doing in the pit. I'll be a Ferrari and a Kimi spy. :toofunny:

Now you can tell someting about a person after his/her reaction in such situation. How Rosberg acknowledges his penalty and how McLaren and Hamilton finds it "harsh" and the rules "silly" and tries to compare it with Kimi's accident during the Monaco GP. No comment.

Rosberg says crash penalties justifies - He deserves it as much as Hamilton

Rosberg has acknowledged that his penalty for crashing in the pitlane during Sunday's Canadian Grand Prix was deserved.

The German, who drives for Williams, ran into Lewis Hamilton at Montreal after the McLaren driver failed to spot the red pitlane traffic light and careened into the duly stationary Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen.

Both Rosberg and Briton Hamilton will be punished with a ten-position demotion on the Magny-Cours grid, and Hamilton on Tuesday is quoted as deriding his penalty as "harsh" and the closure of the pitlane "silly."

According to the French language La Presse newspaper, Rosberg said: "I think I deserve the penalty, the same as Hamilton. He didn't stop, and neither did I, so we deserve the same fate."

"I saw the red lights too late, so it is natural that there is a penalty. I made a mistake,"
Rosberg added.

It is true, however, that while Hamilton failed to see both the red light and the stationary cars of Raikkonen and Robert Kubica, Rosberg's mistake was slightly different.

Rosberg agrees: "Of course, if Hamilton had slowed, I would have been able to better understand what was going on. But he kept going, and then suddenly... (hit Raikkonen's Ferrari). sas_pageid='5067/31627'; // Page : racinglive/f1-live_uk/news_page sas_formatid=1701; // Format : 300x250_middle 300x250 sas_target=''; // Targeting SmartAdServer(sas_pageid,sas_formatid,sas_target);
"

To another publication, Rosberg insists that stationary cars at the end of a pitlane is not a normal phenomenon.

"In my whole career I have never watched the lights at the pit exit," he is quoted as admitting to motorline.cc.

Rosberg also said the penalty effectively destroys his chances for the French Grand Prix.

"I can almost forget about Magny-Cours," he insisted, "because I will be starting probably in 18th or 19th place."

During the post-race press conference on Sunday, Canadian GP winner Robert Kubica was thanking his lucky stars.

"I stopped side by side with Kimi and after a few seconds Lewis came flat out and crashed into him," he reported.

"I have to thank him that he chose Kimi and not me," he added with a smile.

Penalty "hars", rules "silly" - Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton has blasted his ten-position grid penalty for the forthcoming French Grand Prix as "harsh."

In quotes published in the British press on Monday, the former championship leader also dismisses the current rule whereby traffic lights indicate whether the pitlane is open or closed as "silly."

"We are in a race. How can you see a red light at the end of the pit lane?"
he asked.

"But that's the rule and I accept it," said the 23-year-old McLaren driver, who was penalised by stewards after smashing into the stationary Kimi Raikkonen after a pitstop in Montreal on Sunday.

The Guardian newspaper claims that Hamilton was told over the radio to "watch out" for the red light by his team prior to the smash.

Even so, the Briton told The Mirror that he thinks the resultant Magny Cours penalty is "a bit harsh really."

"I didn't aim to ruin anyone's race."

But Hamilton's reluctance to simply admit his mistake, apologise and move on is showing no signs of winning him new supporters.

A writer for The Daily Mail wrote: "Shame on you, Lewis, not for an exhibition of driving which would have cost you your no-claims bonus on the streets outside your Geneva home, but for a lack of contrition."

Even Sir Jackie Stewart, one of Hamilton's staunchest supporters, is questioning his level of maturity in the wake of the Montreal howler.

"When he looks back in four or five years he will question himself about what sort of person and driver he was in 2007 and 2008," the Scot said.

Ok now those two interviews just proves us how stupid Hamilton is  Seems like he can't admit he did a mistake.
Rosberg instead, was very mature admitting that he did a mistake and deserved the penalty.

That's exactly why I posted those articles here. Just to see the difference. I thought first that Hamilton would break down and he'd admit his mistake... instead of it the opposite happened. :(

I didn't dissapointed in Rosberg of course, that was the right thing to say. If Rosberg is a great friend of Hamilton then he should give him some lessons how to behave.

I've just read the following:
On behalf of McLaren Mercedes Norbert Haug and Martin Whitmarsh asked for apologise from Ferrari team boss, Stefano Domenicalli. That's nice, polite and fair. :)

Räikkönen - Mosley right to keep job (Personal life irrelevant to the role of FIA president) - A rare vote of support for Mosley from Räikkönen

Reigning world champion Kimi Raikkonen has again defended beleaguered FIA president Max Mosley amid the noise of the sex scandal.

More than two months ago, the Ferrari driver was a rare sympathetic voice for Mosley, whose job was on the line after he was caught with five prostitutes.

Raikkonen, the 28-year-old laconic Finn, said then: "It's his personal life and he can do whatever he wants and it's not really my business or anyone else's to put their noses in."

68-year-old Mosley last week was reconfirmed as FIA President following a confidence vote, and Raikkonen says those who backed the Briton made "a good decision.

He added in Canada last weekend: "For me it doesn't really matter. I think it is his personal life and really has nothing to do with F1."

www.f1live.com

^ I think that shows his attitude in his own life as well.

"It's his personal life and he can do whatever he wants and it's not really my business or anyone else's to put their noses in."
I can imagine him saying; It's my personal life and I can do whatever I want and it's not really your business or anyone else's to put your noses in.

And that's just cool.

^^^yeah, with Kimi, you know that he tells the truth. He says this, because he means this. He would like it if people and the public would behave the same towards him.

Kimi's Column - After Montreal GP
A Bitter Surprise

08070115sc4.jpg
It was a bitter disappointment and surprise we had in Canada. I can't believe, that somebody can hit you when you stand in the red light side by side with another car. I can't believe he did not see the red light, and, more than that, the two stationary cars.

For my part, I think Hamilton deserved his penalty. He loses ten places on the grid at the next race in France, and at least, that's not going to make things any easier for him.

Obviously, we lost a good result in Canada. Before the pitstop I felt that the car was very strong in speed. We could have won the race, or in the worst case, come second.

On Saturday we had difficulties in qualifying because of the breaking surface of the track, and then, for a while the beginning of the race. The left front tyre started to grain, but as soon as we got the front tyres working well we went very fast.

We got the fastest lap time before the safety car, then we had a great pitstop and put our car out in the front. I was ready to fight and try to beat Kubica after the red light but that never happened. Instead came Hamilton, and our race was over.

I was not angry, just disappointed, surprised and frustrated all at the same time. He knows there was a red light. Accidents happen, but not with two stopped cars.

Now seven races have past and we have had two bad results in a row. It is something nobody could have predicted. Obviousl our position is not that strong anymore but its not the end of the world for us. We have not lost that much.

We are fourth in the championship. It's the same position as last year and like then, there's a long season ahead of us.

It was good for that Kubica won in Canada. Congratulations to him for taking the maximum points. For us, it was better that he got the ten points and not my main rivals, who are now just three points ahead of me.

The BMWs have always been there and have always scored points. When something has gone wrong for us, they managed to take a nice lead. I'm not too worried about that, but obviously, if they keep scoring each time then it will be hard to catch them up in the championship.

But we have a very good feeling with the car. We will win soon again. Now we go to the circuits where we should be strong from since the very beginning of the weekend.

Monaco and Canada are far away in the past for me. Since coming out the car after the crash in Canada, I put it all behind and I have been just focusing on France. We won thee last year and will do our very best to win there again.
