I don't usually post in here, But this caught my attention and I totally agree.
I have known of it, it does happen. But mostly with elderly people who lose a loved one. Not heard of it happening to someone younger but I think thats because the heart is stronger older people have weaker hearts and the heart just isnt strong enough to deal with the pain.
I have felt heartbroken enough myself at times to the point of feeling like my heart will stop. Just recently actually.
But I am young and I guess it can take the pain. Thank God, Cos I have kids to live for who need me. But I have felt it, and know if I were old and felt this way. I think my heart would have given up already.

This was probably said already, maybe even by myself but for some reason this afternoon it hit me even more. To me it sounds like maybe there was a muse, or this dream woman. Oh no, suddenly now that I am trying to explain it, I can't explain how it made sense a moment ago to me. This is far fetched I guess, though Justus had said to go ahead and think outside the box, or something like that. Okay, think of it as a bedtime story.

Once upon a time there was a boy who dreamed of someone very special, his soul mate who, though she felt very real, he wondered if she was only in his imagination. In all his years growing up, he never heard a single word about her. Sometimes he thought he'd met her, only to be disappointed later on when he realized it couldn't be his ideal woman from the dreams.

He maybe stopped imagining she would be real, because in all this time, he still had not met her. No matter where he went, she was not there. He looked for her and maybe expected to one day see her in the crowd or at a concert, or any place he'd go, but she was never there. So he resolved to not worry that he'd never meet her and never thought he'd be her lover.

Maybe in a dream, she had told him not to hang around. He didn't know if this was because she had found someone else, or what the reason was. He had given up on the dream of being with this dream woman of his, when finally they did meet. He met someone who was everything this dream woman was (and more because she was right there and real). Everything he was looking for, he seemed to find, but because of his past, he pushed the dream away and denied her, because he had already come to terms with not ever being her lover. With her only being his forever muse from a distance. Falling in love with her, or anyone was no longer in his plan. Heartbroken, once she felt that she'd found the one from her dreams, only to be pushed away by him, she ran away. People often sabotage things in their lives that are good and right for a number of reasons... (To be continued?)

this song explains to her that he sees now she is the one. This is it. This love is what he had known all his life. This is the one. But asks her to please understand why it took so long to accept that love and see that she really is real, that she really is the one. Just in all his years he had never heard even a single word about her so what is one to do? He'd probably really start to question himself and reality.

So imagine that. You have this dream of someone from as far back as you can remember. You know them inside out from the spirit (I guess). You know how they feel. You feel as though you'd know them instantly if you were to meet outside of the dreams/imagination/feelings and in real life. Maybe an invisible friend? lol . Anyways, in all the years, this person you feel you know but have not yet met still feels real. Since it's not come to fruition you'd start to question the reality of it. Maybe give up on it being anything but a wild imagination.

Then one day you meet someone who begins to stir up those old memories and feelings. If EVERYTHING was exactly as you'd imagined, it might freak you out. You might question it even though it is right there, and all you'd hoped and imagined and dreamed. The person is exactly what speaks to your heart and soul. Even She feels that exact same way. But so often in life in the past there has been hurt and you wonder what to trust and what to believe. To believe and trust with all your heart that this person is the one, and be let down, might break your heart beyond all hope and repair. It would also probably be an enormous head trip. It would take a long time to maybe make sense of it all, especially that now there would be outside factors involved. Other people involved. Some with good intentions and some with bad, both of which could come between them and the truth. The truth, and the answer is in a clearing. One just has to tread through thick fog and muck to finally reach that clearing. As you get closer, it does start to become clearer. Just like this thread (though sometimes tangents are easy enough to get lost on).

If the two of them were persistant, or at least still hopefull, the dream would never die. All roads would lead to that same place; their destiny. Eventually they would both make it to the clearing no matter how far off the path they'd gone on the way. Maybe no matter what they did, they wouldn't be able to give up and would continually be drawn back to that same direction.
Then at that clearing, they would both know without doubt who they were to each other. They'd know This Is It! Sweet glorious understanding and clarity finally..and finally everything that kept them apart all this time would have no power over separating them ever again. The journey itself would have strengthened them to be invincible together. Though they may have felt weak before they reach that point at times. Once together, they could fully understand.

I am totally in awe of people who are creative and can express their emotions so beautifully, especially by creating and playing music. After taking another listen using a better pair of headphones and returning to one distinct syllable at a time, here, then there, then here, then there, then letting it play straight through, one thing I discovered is this song reminds me of a musical mosaic full of sonic nuances, and as Ash said, some "subliminal" sounds as well - - there even seems to be a whisper in there.


We've been taking the "straight" approach to deciphering these lyrics which, if this is a musical 'mosaic', could maybe be better served if we skip around and make out one syllable here, one there, then piecing them together sort of like a jig-saw puzzle.

Also, I'm wondering - - How is everyone/anyone listening? Are you using a good pair of headphones or just playing it on the pc speakers? I can't help but to wonder because you guys keep posting a few lyrics I don't hear.

I also would like to say, I also do now feel its a soothing, "reassuring', "explaining", almost like, "entreating" sort of sound and not a "good-bye". It also sounds like he's explaining or letting "her" know he understands something she was hoping he would. There's a lot of true, deep and sincere caring in this song, on both sides, that much is clear. I also agree with you, Ashtanga that trying to interpret the lyrics alone could be a bit misleading so the mood and love in the song might just be best enjoyed within itself and just the hearing of Michael's voice after so long :wub: :wub: :wub: :wub: there's nothing like it.

I believe someone may have touched on this already but I will since I'm just now catching it! LOL

I can see how it is that MJ is bringing everyone into his 'conversation' with the "explaining" he's doing, almost like trying to get everyone here to try and help him figure out what tha...its like a little "committee" here in this thread LOL!!

Even tho the song ALSO shows he's feelin' her love very clearly. That's good. That's the important thing. I mean at the end of the day, the end of it all, its the only really important thing.

I can also see how it is that, as AllforMJ says, "the love story continues as the mystery unfolds" - because it lines up with the other songs, like they're all combined into one.

Like, the songs where he is feeling "her" love so strongly, for instance, that song some of you can't think about because it makes you cry. And I do know the feeling.

Where he says, "and it seems as though ... for a thousand years ... tell me that you've seen my face before, and you said to me you don't want me hangin' around" -

those two lines together seem to say that he comes around and she acts like she doesn't know its him (Butterflies? Don't Walk Away? Invincible? - so "she" runs, she avoids, she ignores ... hmmmmmmm denial maybe? resistance ... but whyyyy lol maybe she doesn't even know herself why !


so it seems that part of his confusion here is, its as if he's saying, "look at me and tell me you didn't know it was me - I know you knew it was me Woman!" Tell me that you've seen my face before!

or something like that reasoning (getting closer at least, I believe)

Many songs cumulatively seem to say the same kind of thing all the way up to this one. This one is like a blend of that "knowing" kind of love along with the confusion that has come with her outward actions at times, although "she" has clearly shown him she absolutely loves him beyond any doubt.

I just had another thought. What if "she" is his "match" (meaning in some ways they are exactly alike) or "soul mate" meaning in the context that maybe they have some same soul sourcing, some same "place" they both are coming from (and that could be literally be "from" as in 'planet' too who knows lol right?) and what if the whole problem has been that it just so happens that "she" thinks exactly the way he does lol, -

I'm referring to what he told Schmutly about not approaching women, I mean, I guess it could make sense that if she's truly his soul mate they may have the same type of thought pattens and values and such, and maybe she's the type person who just "would never" approach a man, any man, at all - of course I mean in general, not cast in stone
- I mean, what if "she" really doesn't even know HOW? (I know Ash is enjoying a whole lot of popcorn right about now LOL!!)

The thing that brought that to mind was I'm listening to the song now and at the very end it sounds like he says, "come on here please understand"

Well, all I can say is, if that is what he's saying and if its for that reason, I can see what is meant by him "explaining" different things throughout this song and I can suddenly see why possibly he chose this song, to release at this time. If the time it was written was during the era of SITD and updated to reflect the things he specifically wanted to say to "her" NOW and that's because well, this is it.

do you ever wonder if people ever die from a broken heart?

Although depending on the circumstances of ones choices in life...I believe people can die from a broken heart...My family believes my beautiful Aunt Marcy did...so...yes...it is possible...

For me however, if I had found my ultimate soulmate...I would think/know that he would want me to continue to do God's work and ensure that his Legacy would "never" be forgotten...

With keeping that in mind...There is WAY too much to get accomplished, way too many children, the elderly, and people in general that need to know that some one does really care..!

In my eyes, "True love of one (s) ultimate soul mate will live on for all of eternity..!"

It would take a long time to maybe make sense of it all, especially that now there would be outside factors involved. Other people involved. Some with good intentions and some with bad, both of which could come between them and the truth. The truth, and the answer is in a clearing. One just has to tread through thick fog and muck to finally reach that clearing. As you get closer, it does start to become clearer. Just like this thread (though sometimes tangents are easy enough to get lost on).

If the two of them were persistant, or at least still hopefull, the dream would never die. All roads would lead to that same place; their destiny. Eventually they would both make it to the clearing no matter how far off the path they'd gone on the way. Maybe no matter what they did, they wouldn't be able to give up and would continually be drawn back to that same direction.
Then at that clearing, they would both know without doubt who they were to each other. They'd know This Is It! Sweet glorious understanding and clarity finally..and finally everything that kept them apart all this time would have no power over separating them ever again. The journey itself would have strengthened them to be invincible together. Though they may have felt weak before they reach that point at times. Once together, they could fully understand.

I believe someone may have touched on this already but I will since I'm just now catching it! LOL

I can see how it is that MJ is bringing everyone into his 'conversation' with the "explaining" he's doing, almost like trying to get everyone here to try and help him figure out what tha...its like a little "committee" here in this thread LOL!!

the song ALSO shows he's feelin' her love very clearly.

That's the important thing. I mean at the end of the day, the end of it all, its the only really important thing.

I can also see how it is that, as AllforMJ says, "the love story continues as the mystery unfolds" - because

it lines up with the other songs, like they're all combined into one.

Like,

the songs where he is feeling "her" love so strongly

, for instance, that song some of you can't think about because it makes you cry. And I do know the feeling.

Where he says, "and it seems as though ... for a thousand years ... tell me that you've seen my face before, and you said to me you don't want me hangin' around" -

those two lines together seem to say that he comes around and

she acts like she doesn't know its him

(Butterflies? Don't Walk Away? Invincible? - so "she" runs, she avoids, she ignores ... hmmmmmmm

denial maybe?

so it seems that part of his confusion here is, its as if he's saying, "look at me and tell me you didn't know it was me - I know you knew it was me Woman!" Tell me that you've seen my face before!

Many songs cumulatively seem to say the same kind of thing all the way up to this one.

This one is like a blend of that "knowing" kind of love along with the confusion that has come with her outward actions at times, although "she" has clearly shown him she absolutely loves him beyond any doubt.

I just had another thought. What if "she" is his "match" (meaning in

some ways they are exactly alike) or "soul mate" meaning in the context that maybe they have some same soul sourcing, some same "place" they both are coming from (and that could be literally be "from" as in 'planet' too who knows lol right?) and what if the whole problem has been that it just so happens that "she" thinks exactly the way he does

it could make sense that if she's truly his soul mate they may have the same type of thought pattens and values and such, and maybe she's the type person who just "would never" approach a man, any man

The thing that brought that to mind was I'm listening to the song now and at the very end it sounds like he says, "come on here please understand"

Well, all I can say is, if that is what he's saying and if its for that reason, I can see what is meant by him "explaining" different things throughout this song and I can suddenly see why possibly he chose this song, to release at this time. If the time it was written was during the era of SITD and updated

to reflect the things he specifically wanted to say to "her" NOW

this seems to indicate that he knows that it would be 'irregular' for "her" to come to him

but he needs her to do it that way because in part his situation, he just can't seem to figure out how to go to where she is and approach her like he does everyone in normal circumstances, and/or he can't seem to manage to do it without doing in such a way that her walls go up! LOL (
