Re: Sundance Festival 2019 - Controversial MJ Documentary "Leaving Neverland"
He's trying to shift the blame on Michael so he himself doesn't have to take any blame for failing to be a succesful director or a son who would have cared for his own dad. He has a lot of guilty feelings and feelings of failure in him and he is trying to take out all the self hate on Michael. I guess in his minid, if MJ is made responsible, he won't have to be.
I think he also takes out her mother's high expectation towards him on MJ. Like it was MJ who pressured him to be in the showbiz (by telling him "be the best" sort of inspirational slogens that he kept telling anyone), when in reality it was his mother who insisted on him being a part of it since childhood.
As for a rebuttal documentary: I don't want to sound negative but I wouldn't get my hopes up at all and I'm really not sure what some members expect from it.
Even if the Estate/Taj/whoever could make a decent documentary who would air it? You may say the Estate can buy airtime, but
1) then it can be ignored as paid propaganda,
2) there seems to be a lot of money and interest involved not only in slandaring MJ but in shifting the attention from powerful figures' shady businesses - and in that case why would they give airtime for this?
And actually this shouldn't be the task of his nephew, not even of his Estate but of independent journalists, and they - with a very few honorable exceptions - clearly don't care, because if they did, they could have done this decades ago (and we wouldn't even be here now...). There's no interest in presenting the facts about MJ, even in respected media fact checking goes out of the window when it comes to him, as a result otherwise easily refutable false stories circulating since decades are presented now as truth.
And if some media person "wokes up" to the real facts suddenly finds himself/herself in a minority, and won't be provided the same forum anymore to tell a story that is different from the agenda.
