No that's just what was said on facebook by someone who was there and I was wondering if it's true. Is the hologram Michael, a body double with Michael's face or a complete lookalike?

Re: Cirque du Soleil "Michael Jackson ONE" permanent Las Vega show

Was the hologram Michael's face on the body of a double or what? Some people are saying it was an impersonator, as in the face as well.

No comment on this as have not ever seeing a hologram and dont know how the technology works.
it's an illusion - whatever it means

But it's probably more difficult to do in this one as they have to show him dancing comparing to the Tupac one

But will see more reviews as more people seeing this show and right now they still tweaking and adjusting until it's official on june 29.

^ Richard Lecoq who has seen the show said it's NOT Michael Jackson. Here we go again. If it's an impersonator, it would be a shame. Using hologram pretending it to be MJ when it's not. Reminds me of something.

I attended the performance of ONE that night
So I can say something

Yes I'm with you because I cannot stand the impersonator either

But the hologram scene in MJ ONE is magical.
They did it very good.

But like I said, 2PAC hologram is NOT 2PAC himself.
MJ hologram is either NOT MJ himself ~~~
It's a digital rebuilding or CGI, and may be involved with a impersonator
But if you are okay with the Michael in MJ Experience game, you know what I mean
MJ hologram is representing the man we know and his spirit.

We have discussion with people with knowledge of it about why they chose not use MJ archive video
,they said they tried very hard to look at the archive but could not find a good and HD enough video to use for rebuilding the hologram scene.
But the whole concept is to create something Michael represents and the magic. So they go with the concept.

And the show is not just about several minutes of hologram. It's everything and it has many parts, many performances and many innovative ideas. It's a whole show, entertaining but not being advertised as MJ HOLOGRAM SHOW.

When I first saw it, I think it's magical and it took my breath away. When I found out it's not MJ himself, I have to admit I was a bit let down and fears there would be fakeness controversies all over again. But when I think it over several times as I get back home, I still think it's magical. Michael spirit and presence is there, sending out the message of the song.

Not perfect, but reasonable and innovative arrangement and move. I can accept it, considering MJ is NOT here anymore.
And I think about the whole show without hologram, which is also amazing. Hologram clearly add some magic to it.

We can't expect hologram thing can really bring Michael back and we have to admit the reality. I really want to see MJ's real footage, however, what a pity. I hope some day technology advancement can do it better and they will re-do the Michael hologram.

But it fits the show well.
You have to have this in mind: It's not something we need to look up to or go on pilgrimage to. It is just an entertainment show. A good and amazing one.

I have to say when I think it over and think about the magic fascinates me, I want to see it again.

I'm confident we'll see a lot more of the show in June once people start going, we'll be able to fully tell then

Re: Cirque du Soleil "Michael Jackson ONE" permanent Las Vega show

Tupac one wasn't actually a hologram. It's just a mirror reflection trick which looks like he's performing there.

I feel like it would be flat out stupid and a waste of money on their part (don't holograms cost a lot of money to produce?) if the hologram really isn't Michael. What exactly would be the point of having the hologram if it isn't really him? Isn't that the whole purpose of having it in the first place? I don't know. I find it hard to believe they wouldn't use the real Michael but I could be wrong!

I'm hoping to see this next summer, summer 2014. If not, 2015. I've been reading reviews and it sounds amazing. I will not allow myself to miss this! :)

All we have is From Forbe's article

It only seems fitting that Michael Jackson, the man who brought the world “Thriller,” was resurrected on a Las Vegas stage late Thursday night—in the form of a hologram.

The moment occurred toward the end of the first public performance of Michael Jackson ONE, a joint venture between Cirque du Soleil and Jackson’s estate. The singer’s apparition materialized from a cloud of gold pixie dust and proceeded to deliver a rousing rendition of “Man In The Mirror.”
Throughout the song, Jackson’s hologram stomps around the stage as a coterie of backup dancers swirl around him, moving in unison like a school of fish with one illusory leader. The phantom Jackson even executes a move that involves dropping to one knee and getting back up; he’s briefly transformed into a Jackson 5 era version of himself before evaporating at the song’s end.
When Jackson first appeared onstage, you could feel a swell of energy ripple through the sellout crowd at Mandalay Bay. It wasn’t accompanied by the volume level of some of the show’s other big moments, almost as if the audience was holding its collective breath to keep from shattering the fleeting sliver of hope that this was not an illusion, but the King of Pop himself.

</aside>That’s the same sort of reaction that Tupac Shakur’s hologram received when it debuted at Coachella last year. Indeed, similar technology was used for both (technically, they’re illusions, not holograms). But Jackson’s actually danced and overlapped with cohorts onstage; Shakur’s merely rapped in the direction of Snoop Dogg, who was standing ten feet away.
Much was made of Shakur’s spectral return and the possibility of a hologram tour, yet nothing of the sort has progressed beyond rumor. Shortly after Jeff Jampol (who serves as a consultant to the Jackson estate) took over management of Shakur’s estate, he downplayed the likelihood of a solo tour for the rapper.

and this little clip

so you just have to see the show and judge for yourself!
anyway for the show overall not just the hologram part .

Re: Cirque du Soleil "Michael Jackson ONE" permanent Las Vega show

^^Yes people have to see the show, then they can judge the illusion for themselves.

Re: Cirque du Soleil "Michael Jackson ONE" permanent Las Vega show

It sounds like many people enjoyed what they saw and so far the reaction has been good. I don't want to offend anyone but I hope things here don't go negative. Let's think positive and keep an open mind. There is already plenty of negativity outside of this show we are dealing with. I hope I don't sound too sensitive right now.

Re: Cirque du Soleil "Michael Jackson ONE" permanent Las Vega show

Hello everyone,

just to tell you this:

yes, it is not Michael's actual likeness in the show. it's an impersonator's. See it like the MJ the experience videogame: a dancer plays MJ's part.
From the first move, MJ's connoisseurs know and see it is not MJ. It was confirmed to us who attended this special preview that it is not MJ.
I think the Forbes article got it all wrong because it is written by a guy who is currently writing a MJ book and it hints at the fact that general public may see and perceive this hologram as Michael's actual likeness (which it is not).

I feel this may create a gap between what the producers of the show want to create and show us and what the public sees and understands.
Now, see this sequnce as a poetic moment when the hologram turns into cloud / dust of gold and shares its powers with the 4 characers of the show. To me, this is how and why I feel they went with the hologram technology: to help create the disappear/reappear special effect.

Re: Cirque du Soleil "Michael Jackson ONE" permanent Las Vega show

and btw, this is a very good show with songs that - at last - get a great showcase here.
And, true: it's important some details should not take us away from the positive. Whatever detail that may have questions flying around should be cleared once for all, and then, time to move on.

Re: Cirque du Soleil "Michael Jackson ONE" permanent Las Vega show

From what I'm seeing and reading this show is goin to be AMAZING. Hopefully next yr I am able to go...but, must save first! =) I think the hologram idea is pretty cool by the way.

Yes let's keep this positive & look at the show in its entirety and not piece meal. The illusion looks quite light and otherworldly & conveys a message, which I am sure all will feel & get once they see it.

Wasn`there also a Neverland Museum in plan? But maybe they have other plans now for the place of a museum

If I remember right Lion King and Mamma Mia was there before MJONE.
Both of them are movies...
The scene production is not the same as the movie but the same story line.
Isn´t there some kind of story in MJONE too?

People are still going to see MM the musical although there is a movie.
MJONE can go on in Las Vegas for many years and we could see a movie during the time we are saving money to get to Las Vegas.

They are still playing Agatha Christies Mousetrap in London, after 60 years
Beat it Michael

Re: Cirque du Soleil "Michael Jackson ONE" permanent Las Vega show

As far as I now, it's IMPOSSIBLE for this "hologram" to be MJ, because he is not alive. It's natural they had to use a double for the making of it. It was the same with 2Pac! A double was used. It's just how this trick works. No need to get upset about it and scream "fake". It's how this technology works.

Re: Cirque du Soleil "Michael Jackson ONE" permanent Las Vega show

Could somebody please explain exactly how a hologram works? it was my understanding that they would of had to have used a real performance clip of MJ. Is it actually an imposter? If so why is it called a hologram? i dont get it.

Re: Cirque du Soleil "Michael Jackson ONE" permanent Las Vega show

Its not a hologram of MJ its a illusion to represent MJ in the performance. The reviews are awesome. The show is full of love and is loved.

Re: Cirque du Soleil "Michael Jackson ONE" permanent Las Vega show

^^Dear Me, I see we have gone into the fake theories again......

I hope fans won't be so stupid as to call campaigns and boycotts against it because the "hologram" is "fake". That would be the stupidest thing ever. (The 2Pac "hologram" was "fake" as well - body double was used as well...). It's just an illusion.

It is not a hologram, regardless of what the media say. Tupac was not a hologram either.
Second, even if it were a hologram the subject does not need to be alive for a hologram to work - a video recording is absolutely fine.
Third, the ILLUSION (not hologram) used for Tupac relies on a very old method of projection, which I believe originated Victorian age theatre shows. An image of tupac was projected onto a 'substrate' or receiving material that reflects the image back to the audience to see. It's very simple really. I don't yet know how the MJ hologram works, but it will be based on a similar principle and as I said a VIDEO performance from MJ is suitable. It does not require a fake MJ

According to the Making of Tupac hologram, there were no imposters. Only CGI. They could've done this for MJ.

You can dislike for some reasons a part of the show without calling campaigns to boycott it. If so, indeed, it would be stupid !
