Re: any NHL Hockey fans on here

Former New Jersey Devils goalie Martin Brodeur practiced with the St. Louis Blues in a tryout after Brian Elliot was listed week to week due to lower body injury.

I never expected that, I thought for sure he's gonna retire, but hey it seems like wants to have 1 more shot. But there is a player I believe is gonna retire and he is.

Daniel Alfredsson will be coming home to Ottawa in early December and expecting to announce his retirement.

Also, THE BRUINS WON IN OT OVER JETS!!! WAY TA GO DOUGIE!!!! 2-1.

Re: any NHL Hockey fans on here

The St. Louis Blues officially signed Martin Brodeur to a 1 year contract while Brian Elliott's dealt with lower body injury which he'll return soon.

The Joe Louis Arena sparked a power outage in which the Detroit Red Wings morning practice is cancelled but the game vs Florida Panthers will go on tonight.

Also, Red Wings legend Gordie Howe who's recently suffered a stroke has now been placed in an intensive care unit. His son Mark Howe stated re. his father's health in which believed he had a back pain:

"We were able to get rid of his back pain, so basically he's kind of resting comfortably," Mark Howe told the newspaper Sunday. "I'd say he probably has more good days than bad days. I mean, it's hard. He's not walking. Speech is extremely, extremely difficult. He knows what we're saying. He understands what's going on. When you're there with him, you can interact; it's still a nice thing."

Slava Voynov has been spotted practicing with the LA Kings

And the reason why is here on this link.

2 more players contracted with the mumps. Sidney Crosby is returning for practice while 3 other Penguins players are being tested for the mumps for precaution.

Re: any NHL Hockey fans on here

Another player victimized by the mumps. Penguins Olli Maatta was tested positive for the mumps while a few other players including Marc-Andre Fleury were tested negative. The Pittsburgh Penguins are now hit the most with the mumps now.

Jeez the damned mumps outbreak is getting outta control in the NHL.

Re: any NHL Hockey fans on here

Few more players again tested positive for the mumps. Patrik Elias and Michael Ryder of the New Jersey Devils plus more Penguins players got the mumps and they are Steve Downie and Thomas Greiss. Brandon Sutter is safe after his test came back negative for the mumps.

New Jersey Devils fired Peter DeBoer as head coach and hired both Adam Oates and former Devils captain Scott Stevens as co-coach for the Devils.

Hockey Night In Canada commentator Bob Cole and former NHL player/sex abuse advocate Sheldon Kennedy were named among the 95 appointments to the Order Of Canada.

Re: any NHL Hockey fans on here

Another coach recently fired. AGAIN.

This time the next coach fired is Randy Carlye.

Here's the recap of the Tampa Bay Lightning vs Boston Bruins game. I watched it on SNOntario which broadcast thru NESN feed.

Looks like they're getting their groove back since Adam McQuaid returned from thumb injury. A young rookie player for the Bruins David Pastrnak has really impressed me, he scored 4 goals in just 2 games. He scored his first 2 in last game vs Philadelphia Flyers last Saturday and he scored another pair in that game. That's just what they need after the B's lost Shawn Thornton and Jarome Iginla. I strongly believed that kid will stay with the Bruins because I knew he'll be a great help getting their game back and get them into the playoffs.

Also, the Buffalo Sabres has officially retired Domink Hasek's #39 at First Niagara Center for his Number Retirement Banner Ceremony. The Dominator spent 9 seasons with the Buffalo Sabres since 1992-93 until 2000-01 before moving to Detroit Red Wings. Throughout his career Hasek won a gold medal in the 1998 Nagano Olympics in Ice Hockey for Team Czech Rep., he's also won Hart Memorial Trophy (1997 and 1998), Lester B. Pearson Award (1997 and 1998), Vezina Trophy (1994, 1995, 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2001), William M Jennings Trophy (1994, 2001 and 2008), named NHL's 1st All-Star Team (1994, 1995, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001), played in the NHL All-Star Game (1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001 and 2002) and a Stanley Cup Champion (2002 and 2008 with the Detroit Red Wings).

I remember watching Pat Quinn all the time when he coached for the Maple Leafs on "Hockey Night In Canada" and J.P. Parise I don't know him that much except that he plays in 1972 for Team Canada for the Summit Series hockey. When I heard that Jean Believeau is a classy guy, though I've hate Montreal Canadiens, but he's the only Habs legend who's had class and I've heard that before the one game he told the fans at the Bell Centre to never boo the opposing team especially the Boston Bruins. I loved Believeau for his class.

Tonight is the NHL All-Star Fantasy Draft.

Re: any NHL Hockey fans on here

Gary Bettman has confirmed in his press conference that the Winter Classic 2016 has been confirmed that the game will be held back in Boston at the Gillette Stadium. Montreal Canadiens (BOO!) vs Boston Bruins

Re: any NHL Hockey fans on here

Martin Brodeur is expected to announce his retirement as a goalie and move on to front office with the St. Louis Blues organization.
I wish Marty never left jersey, its so weird seein him in that uni.

Re: any NHL Hockey fans on here

Funny is that I expected he retire before the season started, but then he chose go for one more shot in St. Louis and yeah I agree he shouldn't have left New Jersey.

I've been pretty perplexed over the whole Evander Kane dilemma in Winnipeg. From what I heard first that he's involved in an altercation with team Dustin Byfuglien and later it's revealed that Kane violated the dress code by wearing a tracksuit for the team meeting later Byfuglien threw Kane’s track suit into the shower due to the code. Kane was origianlly on healthy scratch for his actions until it is reveal that he's out with a shoulder injury and will be out 4-6 months.

While I was watching the Oilers vs Leafs game on Hockey Night In Canada (CBC), I was watching "Coach's Corner" and Don Cherry gets into the Kane dilemma and blasts him over the dress code violation. While I may have agreeed with him, I'd say that Byfuglien is too at fault. Kane and Byfuglein were both at fault, Kane shouldn't have violated the dress code (while I don't believe in dress codes, but the dress code in hockey is an exception) and that made him into a "jerk" as Grapes stated calling Kane that and Byfuglien acts like a "bully".

Re: any NHL Hockey fans on here

Winnipeg Jets & Buffalo Sabres Blockbuster trade has just happened.

kane-evander-05222607.jpg

The Buffalo Sabres and Winnipeg Jets opened the run-up to the 2015 NHL Trade Deadline with a bang Wednesday, completing a blockbuster trade that sends forward Evander Kane and defenseman Zach Bogosian to the Buffalo Sabres for a package that includes defenseman Tyler Myers, forward Drew Stafford, two prospects and a first-round pick.

Buffalo holds three first-round picks in the 2015 NHL Draft. The Sabres have previously acquired first-round picks in this draft from the New York Islanders and the St. Louis Blues. It is unclear which pick Winnipeg will receive.

Forwards Joel Armia and Brendan Lemieux are the prospects the Jets acquire in the trade. College goalie Jason Kasdorf, a junior at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is also going to the Sabres in the trade.

Kane, 23, was among the hottest commodities ahead of the NHL Trade Deadline, which is 3 p.m. ET on March 2, in spite of the fact he had shoulder surgery this past weekend and is expected to miss the remainder of the season.

Kane had 14 goals and 25 points in 38 games this season. He has 109 goals and 222 points in 361 games over the past six seasons, all with the Atlanta/Winnipeg franchise. Bogosian, 24, has three goals and 13 points in 41 games for the Jets this season.

Myers, 25, has four goals and 13 points in 47 games. Myers and Bogosian each have contracts that run through the 2018-19 season.

Stafford, 29, has nine goals and 24 points in 50 games. He could be a replacement for Kane, and is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

Lemieux, selected in the second round (No. 31) of the 2014 draft by the Sabres, has 35 goals, 50 points and 120 penalty minutes in 46 games for the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League this season. He is the son of former NHL player Claude Lemieux. He's also unsigned, so the Jets would need to agree on an entry-level contract before the 2016 draft.

Armia, 21, was selected in the first round (No. 16) of the 2011 draft by the Sabres. The Finland native has 10 goals and 25 points in 32 games with the Rochester Americans in the American Hockey League this season. He is listed at 6-foot-3 and 192 pounds, and has played one game for the Sabres this season.

Kasdorf, 22, is 9-14-0 with a .900 save percentage for RPI this season. The Sabres hold his rights while he remains in college and for 30 days after he leaves the school.

The Sabres are currently in 30th place in the NHL standings. Any team that does not make the playoffs has a chance to land Connor McDavid of the Erie Otters, one of the most-hyped prospects since Sidney Crosby was available in 2005, with the No. 1 pick in the 2015 NHL Draft.

The team that finishes last in the standings will be guaranteed to pick no worse than second, which likely means adding McDavid or Jack Eichel of Boston University, another elite-level prospect. Should the Sabres finish 30th, they would likely be adding either McDavid or Eichel along with the No. 2 pick in the 2014 NHL Draft, center Sam Reinhart, and a healthy Kane next season.

Well Believeau is the the Habs legend I knew who showed class. I never heard from anyone saying the same about Lafleur yet. I like to think he is.

Re: any NHL Hockey fans on here

Trade have been yesterday. Toronto has been making a few moves. Just recently, they traded away David Clarkson to Columbus for karma suffered Nathan Horton. New Jersey trade Jaromir Jagr to Florida for a couple of draft picks.

clarkson-horton.jpg

David Clarkson (right) and Nathan Horton (left)

I stated Horton is karma suffered, because I knew that him leaving Boston and signed to Columbus was a huge mistake on his part and he's been suffering injuries since and I doubt he'll be helpful to Toronto because of his back injury and I don't think he'll be the same again like before.
