Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

APWNN is not strong to lead a Michael Jackson album.
If they really do this, it means the albums is gone.
VERY SAD about all happens!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

I had a dream about the new album :) I don't remember the title, but it had an "artistic" cover with a black background and lots of curving lines in multiple colors in the upper part of the cover.
There was an uptempo track with a children choir in one section (because MJ didn't record these vocals...).

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

"A Place With No Name" disappeared from this polish radio station http://lp3.polskieradio.pl/, the snippet link don't work too http://lp3.polskieradio.pl/error/500.html?aspxerrorpath=/utwor/default.aspx :(

They still don't reply for my email but i think it's not official and that whty they take down the song from radio :(

It could be that Sony or the MJ Estate found out they were playing it and ordered them to stop it.
This is final confirmation that they were not authorised to play the song.

Please cancel all upcomming album, if you can't release ORIGINAL MIX / UNOUTOUCHED DEMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I DON'T WANNA NEW REMIX of ANY RELEASED / UNRELEASED SONGS of MICHAEL JACKSON!!!!

In my opinion, Michael Jackson still can ROCK. Let him do it, he can do it without any addition new updated remix. Leave his music innocent and free, the world will like it!!
(Please forget the money which when $ony / €state add some staff to a song, they can touch. Thats not important for the fans. Money will come if you let fans and this world hear Michael Jackson again, please!!!)

He is the King, and he still can Rock! I do believe it!!

You are going to be one very disappointed fan when the music is released (in June IMO). It would be better for you to get used to the idea that what you hate is inevitable. Would save us all a lot of moaning later.

@qbee and some others told the same thing to me before BAD25 and Michael album release.

The fact is, I know they are doing wrong.

Let's see who's right who's wrong this time.

Please let Michael Jackson's Music freedom!!

Fans suffered tooooo much after MJ passes away, esp after <michael> album released.
If they $ony/€state still want the money in this way by releasing only 12 tracks on an album. and insist what they have planed in order to save as much material as possible.
Fans have rights to tell what they want, if there's not their most wanted tracks. They could & should do NOT buy the album. That's not kidding. Enough is enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only 12 tracks??? are u kidding me?</michael>

TDK-777, the Estate doesn't have as much as many of us think they do. There are not 200 to 300 songs out there. They can't afford to release sixteen tracks at a time. Ten to twelve is the best and wisest idea.

The Estate is going to release the original versions along with a reproduced version. We are getting the untouched demo.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

I think it's immature that people are complaining about the estate releasing Michael's unpublished work, it's there job.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

i hope they come up with a strong uptempo song as a lead track for the new album. otherwise its over again.

APWNN is good but not strong/powerful enough for a new album. (it would be ok as an 3rd or 4th single).
first one should be smth like chicago (i trust timbo on that) or a proper STTR mix (not the 2010 shit version).
it should catch everybodies attention! that should be the main goal for the first 1-3 singles.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

I cannot wait

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

I just want a successful lead single really. It'd be nice to hear a new MJ jam on the radio that everybody's crazy about again.

It's been far too long since we've had one, and one last hurrah would be nice for old times sake.

One album sell, or 2 albums don't sell. = 14-16 tracks for one album, or 10-12 tracks each for 2 album!!!

NO, not at all, the reproduced version will suck the album for sure!!!

Yes, I agree.
'This Is It' was a weak single to promote the film and hits package (it wasn't originally called 'This Is It' but the song was chosen as a single because it could easily be renamed to suit the TII project).
'Hold My Hand' was a weak lead single.
I do believe the intention was there to have a full campaign with 'Michael' and to promote the album properly with numerous (hopefully successful) singles. After all, they made videos for HMH, HT, and BTM but the public interest was not there. God knows why they abandoned the best BTM video in favour of the 'fan video'. I think the issue was the lead single - it didn't grab anybody's attention and the album couldn't get any momentum at all.

The MJ Estate need to reach out to attract a wide audience. Perhaps APWNN might appeal to the 'Radio 2' audience, the 30+ market who maybe still buy more music than they pirate. BUT I think the MJ Estate need a killer track that will appeal to the younger audience who will give it millions of clicks on youtube, spotify etc.
Now, considering the age of most of MJ's music, it's difficult to know whether any super-producer can give it enough street-cred to achieve that goal. Even Mj's latest (mostly unfinished) works are at least 5 years old so it'll be tough. I doubt anything MJ created in his last few years would have hit potential (Just my opinion!). Even if they had the material recorded with Will.i.am, that itself is now 8(!) years old. I would hazard a guess that the most upbeat, positive dance friendly MJ tunes that the MJ Estate posess are at least 20 years old (because MJ made fewer of those as he got older), which will be a massive challenge purely because of the age of the music and the song structure - pop music has changed a lot since the early 90s! If they MJ Estate can't create something that soungs 'now' then they won't gain the young vote, won't get the extensive radio play, youtube hits etc. I don't think they can expect a massive hit album/single by only concentrating on the older audience (although I note that Bruce Springsteen just achieved his 10th UK '1 album - beating MJ who held 9 - so maybe I'm wrong!)

I tend to think the MJ Estate might have to go for a double a-side approach if they want this album to succeed, like Sony/MJ did for Childhood and Scream. Both songs clearly aimed at two different markets. Scream was aimed at the youth radio market with a video targetting MTV airplay while Childhood was aimed at the older MJ fans, with a video aimed at the VH1 audience. Both songs released on the same CD single to focus sales on one product, therefore boosting singles sales and singles chart position. Now, I understand thatthe singles market is different now and it's not feasible to attempt to boost singles chart positions with a strategy like that, but I do think it could boost album sales.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

What sounds "cool" and "current" now will sound dated in 5 years. So careful with this whole making it sound like it's current thing as if current=good (it isn't). On the long term a song that sounds like how MJ intended it actually might have more value whether it has hit potential currently or not.

I know this is all about making instant $ for Sony/Estate and that they want to score a hit and that some fans are desperate for a hit too at any price (even if it means it's not even MJ's music any more), but I'm not. I'm not saying it wouldn't be great to score hits, but I also know the realities of posthumus releases. I don't think it's realistic to expect a posthumus album by an artist who is not here any more to compete with the current most popular artists and their hits. Those artists are here to promote and MJ is not.

If Timbaland works on it it seems obvious that they want to update the sound to "current" somehow. I'm not against it but I have ambivalent feelings about it. Let's wait and see is my stance about it. I just hope it will be faithful to MJ and it won't be just Timbaland's music with MJ singing on it but it will have MJ's initial vision and style incorporated in it.

his untouched & unreleased recording's hold the same HIStorical significance as the original pressing's of each of his albums in my opinion. re-edits & special editions just don't cut it for me.. hoping for the original demo's also for sure..

Wow, Hess and Zakk, you two really raised the excitement level in here over the last few days! Thanks for sharing when you simultaneously heard APWNN being played on that radio station and giving us a report. Very fun. :)

Uhm, they won't be releasing anymore Cascio songs in the future, and outside of the Michael album, the estate no longer mentions those records. It's bitter folks who just can't stand the Estate who continue to bring those songs up in regards to a new album. Bad25 was never released on VHS, by the way.

Nobody supported the Michael album the way you're claiming. Many people don't even feel like it was the success that it should've been. But we've moved on, we're willing to give the Estate a chance to prove that they've learned from their first mistakes. BAD25 was a symbol of that, that was a GREAT release, regardless of how one may feel about it. They gave us everything we asked for, they gave us remastered versions of the original album songs, they gave us the songs that didn't make the final cut, they gave us a live performance album along with that. AND for the first time ever, released the Wembley shows to us, could the quality have been better? Sure it could've, but they did so much with that one release. Which I think proves, that low and behold, they do care about us, and what we want, and have nothing but Michael's and his fans best interest at heart.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

We have to give this a chance. Everyone has their concerns and worries but we have to wait and see and hope for the best. I rather give people the chance to learn from mistakes then assume it will be repeated.

If your statement was implying what I think it was, correction: Bad 25 was a GREAT release in Your opinion, regardless of how one may feel about it.

I don't agree with a lot of what was said here in defense of the Estate, but the last part I highly disagree with- they are still a business after all and even if it may seem like I'm holding a dramatic grudge, they'll always be a little chip on my shoulder since they never acknowledged their mistake with the Cascio tracks with an apology. They let it drift away.

If I keep away from this thread my excitement dips down, which works because as soon as there's actual news and I find out it'll be just the right time for me to blow up with excitement and mark my calendar.

I'm speaking from the majority feedback I've seen when the album released. The only complaints that came from it was the quality of the Wembley dvd. Just check in the thread that's on this board, if you don't buy it. And it's not just this forum, but the others as well. Of course it's my opinion, I think I started that in last sentence with the words "I think". So yeah, there's no point in repeating the obvious. The Estate is a business, and, your point is? They're in the business of Michael Jackson, that is their business. Like I said, others have moved on and are giving the Estate a chance to learn from their mistakes, and like I said, in my sole opinion, coupled with the feedback BAD25 received, it was a great release. They gave us things that weren't in circulation prior to that album releasing, everything in it's original form, and that of which was updated, was included as extra's, which is all that's been asked for, judging from this thread alone. If you don't think BAD25 was an improvement from the This Is It album and Michael, then it's obvious, I think, that your mind is already made up in regards to the Michael Jackson Estate, and won't change, regardless of what they do.

I don't think it's an opinion that BAD25 was a symbol of the Estate learning from their mistakes, I think it's a fact, personally speaking. In the sense that all I'm saying is, BAD25 was a definite improvement from the first two releases the Estate came out with.

To be fair, the Estate released Hold My Hand as the debut single because that's what Michael wanted. But I agree, I want some kind of up tempo song that will reach the top of the charts. I'm aware that that isn't the main priority, but it would be nice to see Michael Jackson hit number one, just one more time.

I'm currently writing a long 3-part article on why the Estate really isn't as bad as people think, and I'm looking to publish it at the end of the week. All I'm going to say about this is that the Estate released the VHS rip because we were begging them for that specific show, and it's all they had available at the time.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

Nearing the end of January and still not a damn word of any album. If it is indeed true that the album is being planned for April then i think its safe to say we should expect an announcement over the next few weeks.
