I've been wondering for about a month or so, would any of you mind if Michael took a hip-hop direction?? Not just hip-hop beats, but themes, like 'Dirt Off Your Shoulder' by Jay-Z (beat) meets 'Lollipop' (Lil Wayne :pth:) Lyrics??? Would you be completly turned off if MJ started singing 'Drop It Like It's Hot', 'Money-Maker', or 'Lollipop'???? here is an example of what Michael's beats would be (yes, i've put ALOT of though into this):

Would you mind???? I'd love to hear your thoughts!!!

What a great business move that would be. A 50 yr old guy doing that kind of thing is exactly what this world needs.

^ LOL yeah

and pop rap catchy ringtone shit just doesn't suit him, he'd sound cheesy singing with a lead rapper over these beats. unless you'd like him to rap

but i wouldn't mind if he has a few hip-hop-soul tracks here and there - these kinds of beats you can sing lead over.

If he took the old school hip hop direction for 1 or 2 songs i'd like that.

I definitely think it would be an odd combination. I do like hip-hop and respect the genre very much, but Michael is.......just not as vulgar as hip-hop is sometimes. So, lyrically.....I would hate it if MJ started singing about women and money and cars and being in the club. BUT....I do like hip-hop beats. A lot of them are sometimes very infectious. He could be attracted to that. The first 3 songs from Invincible seemed very hip-hop oriented in the music. That might be a stretch saying that, but whatever. Also, sometimes hip-hop can be very repetitive, and I sometimes don't like that either. I've always appreciated how melodic Michael can be sometimes.

I think thats my 2 cents on the topic!

i think people would mind if MJ just used the beats! People are scared of hip hop because they think all it is is booty shaking and all that but...hip hop is a legit art form. MJ obviously appreciates it and, based on who he's working with for the new album, MJ is gonna take the hip hop sound and do something universal with it like he always does. I'm looking forward to that. I imagine that yes the sound will be edgy and maybe even the lyrics...(cuz who's to say MJ's not edgy?)...and yes it will make people dance. :)

Edgy lyrics does have to be overly sexual and violent btw. But MJ has always found a good balance so i don't think much will change here.

IF he were to do something like lil whine (not a typo)...of course i'd be put off. There's a reason why i listen to MJ and not these other cats.

wouldnt care one way or the other but it would look pretty stupid for a 50 year old to start acting like some sort of gangsta when hes nothing like that

considering the people he's working with, it looks like he IS taking a hip-hop direction..

U know he did that with Dangerous, but I think this will have a more hip-hop feel to it..

^ well of the collabs we "know" of, he's working with artists leaning more towards today's r&b than the hip-hop sound sc12 is thinking of.

Nothing wrong with the Hip Hop...but I personally feel with no disrespect intended that society has had enough of the rap type music...

"Knowledge Is Growth~~~"Education Is The Key"

I would break down and die inside to hear Michael Jackson on some commercial snap-music shit.
Michael is one of the last artists out there that can "save" music, we already lost R. Kelly - I couldn't live with losing Michael also :(

Of course I would mind.

Melody is what Michael has always tended to create...Hip Hop? No thanks. Guest rappers ok, but limited only.

Pop music?

Good.

IMO hip hop an MJ in the same sentence just doesn't sound good.

He makes wonderful music, MUSIC - not hip hop!

So no thanks PLEASE!

ok for real, hip hop is music. And MJ has and will make great melodies and universal music with hip hop.

He can have some hip hop influenced tracks but it shouldn't be full out, I think. I mean, when has Michael ever gone all out hip hop on us anywayz?

And I'm a big fan of hip hop, except for the lil's and soulja boi's (which I don't see as hip hop, bleck).

Great comment. I think that is why so many fans really do not like hip hop. The lyrics to the "popular" hip hop songs bothers a lot of people and to assume that MJ would do hip hop bothers and scares a lot of MJ fans.

I love hip hop with lyrical content. I do not like ANY song that is out there that disrespects people and promotes ignorance. I can't see MJ do a hip hop or rap song that has lyrics that talks about women in such a distrubing and disgusting way. I mean, I would cringe a little if he ever did that route.

Would you be completly turned off if MJ started singing 'Drop It Like It's Hot', 'Money-Maker', or 'Lollipop'????

Yeah, I would. I would be like, "Michael, you are THAT desperate? You are the KOP. You can do way better." I would not shocked if he likes those song per se. Someone told me that MJ liked that song from the Ying Yang Twins called "What Til You See My...." ( I am not even gonna go there). I am not even gonna lie, I can see MJ do manly things, but that shocked me. That song is so raunchy and very disrespectful to women. Like, I still hate that song. So, I would be totally turned off if MJ started singing songs on a hip hop beat that have lyrics that disrespects and degrades women. Now, I do believe that MJ can spit a verse or two. The song "I Can't Let Her Get Away" it almost sounds like MJ was "rapping" in one part of the song.

Doing hip hop does not necessary mean that you are being gangsta. Those are two different things in a sense. I mean, Mike might be gansta, we just do not know for sure. He has done gangsta things like owning the Beatles Catalouge and doing what he wants to do. I can't see MJ acting like some of these rappers like a Lil Wayne or Jay Z. MJ is in a different level.

Considering on who he is working with, it seems that MJ is taking a urban route with the CD, which is his core genre. He is going to have a lot of R&B, soul and hip hop references/tastes in hsi new project and I have been waiting for MJ to do a cd like this since Invincible.

except for the lil's and soulja boi's (which I don't see as hip hop, bleck).
i think the problem is these muppets are tragically defining what hip-hop is for the mainstream. i'm not surprised by the mass hate on the music and culture, or what is portrayed of it anyway.
