Oh jeez! Why did he get duped? Because he didn't win "Best Album"?? Record sales mean ****, when it comes to Grammy awards! Besides, in early '88 it probably wasn't one of the biggest selling albums yet! And let's not forget that U2's "Joshua tree" is not exactly a crap album! So saying he "got duped" is a bit taking the cake! Both of them would have and have deserved that award!

Well i would have to say that 88 was MJ's year...Bad was VERY big once it dropped. For it to not have earned ANY grammys is a crime in and of itself. I'm not saying just a specific award. I'm talking about AN award period...and it won nothing (except for production/engineering) . That album was influential and deserved recognition which it didn't get. And I said that Grammys fell off a long time ago, not really giving credit to deserving artists...so them ignoring MJ this year isn't a shock to me.

But thats off the subject. I'm not being combative btw. Even when you constantly use unnecessary exclamation points...lol But so u know...I'm not trying to pick a fight.

I've always wondered that as well, it would be much easier access for me to attend one of his concerts here in the US instead of out of country/ over seas.

But the Grammy's is not about chart positions and hype either... at least back then not! It's about fellow musicians rating somebody elses work! And U2 was doing great too... was Bad even nominated for anything else than album of the year?? Also it was the beginning of the year, febuary and march! By that time it didn't have 5 #1's yet! So to say he got duped still seems over the top! At least he was nominated for Album of the year! So that is at least something!

And how was he ignored this year... they wanted to do something, but part of the deal was, that Michael would perform... he declined! So they cancelled the whole thing! When they honored the Beatles or was it Paul Mcartney he also performed! So I wouldn't totally blame the Grammy's!

alright alright...i only been on page one on this thread but i am from hawaii...it IS a US

i had someone come up to me and ask "what kind of money do you guys accept here?"...im like..... dollars......

i was there when he came unfortunately i was too young to afford 250 at the time.....
 
There could be some numerous reasons of why Michael didn't perform in the US.
1. It could be the charts of his album may have lacked interest.
2. He couldn't perform in North America during his Dangerous because he's so stressed because of the 93' allegations that made him hooked to pain medications.
3. Maybe it could be that Tom Sneddon is after him (that b@$^@*#!)

And hey, US isn't the only country he hasn't performed yet, China is one of them, Norway, Cuba, Jamica and yet he hasn't performed in my home country Canada. If it's about the charts that lacks well I say "Screw the charts and perform where we need you the most".

He performed in canada during the victory tour, i know this is getting too far and beyond right. He performed in montreal, vancouver, and toronto.
 
AFAIK he had been afraid of to be killed in USA. I think he will never tour USA, attitudes there just get worse and worse.

Does anyone have the dates that MJ was supposed to pay in the USA for the Dangerous Tour before the rest of the tour was canceled please?
 
I meant he has thought since the beginning of 90's that he might be killed like Martin Luther King.. But I think he should try and see how popular he is actually there.

No way to the first one. The biggest tours are from artists who's albums aren't big sellers. MJ albums on the other hand have all went platinum. You know how long it's been since The Rolling Stones have had a platinum album? But yet their tours are always the biggest of the year.

Thats one reason I think Mike wears so many disguises. He is a target. The extortion attempts are proof of that.

MJ appearing at that Birthday Party the other day shows how popular he still is as everyone went nuts there and not only were they not MJ fans in the sense that we are, they were also all in LA! MJ looked like he was itching to perform as he started dancing before he left. Its been years since MJ performed. I think he should give the US ago if he tours again to help his popularity again. Plus there have been rumours of MJ doing show inLas Vegas which if he is considering means he's not afraid of the US.

Well I do think the main reason he hasn't toured in the U.S. since "Bad" is because of those allegations, but I don't think MJ will ever do a full scale tour ever again, whether it be in the U.S. or elsewhere. I don't think he has any desire to tour. I do however think (or hope at least) that he will do a few concerts in selected cities all over the world and that includes in the U.S. If he held that 30th concert anniversary at MSG in New York City in 2001, I don't see why he wouldn't perform here ever again. Like I said not a full scale tour though, but I do believe it's a possibility that he will do a few concerts here in the future.
 
I sure hope he does something, especially when you see ancient people like the Rolling Stones, and other old a** bands still going strong...It makes you wonder, because Mike has seemed to always be in great shape...didn't abuse illegal drugs and live a wild life, and things like that...I just don't see why..Maybe it's stage fright like people say. Or maybe he is out of shape. But his boney butt can't need that much work...lol Am I on topic? lol I really don't know...lol I happen to think it's more mental than physical...Like people mentioned, that trial had to take a heavy toll on him....

I think not touring in the US has to do with him not believing he has much of a fanbase here, which is ridiculous...It's b/c of the media, but Michael will sell out concerts here just like anywhere else in the world...
