Thats what I would like to know...I'm hoping it's closer to 200 mil by now

the last official figure was 225 M

I think after the week end we will be around 240 M

That seems reasonable. I would also imagine total worldwide numbers are around $240 million by the end of today. We still have the Thanksgiving long weekend, and 8 more week days before it's pulled from theaters. I am expecting total US numbers of $75 million and total worldwide numbers of $260 million.

When we say Christmas we mean the whole holiday season..Which makes another 6 weeks till it's over.. In 6 weeks TII can pass 90.. And then a hundred is only a matter of luck..

No. 4 was "This Is It," which captured $5.8 million from 3,490 screens in 75 markets. Since its Oct. 28 overseas bow, the Michael Jackson concert-preparation docu has an accumulated boxoffice of $168.5 million. It ranked No. 2 in its fourth Japan round on the weekend with $2.9 million from 309 screens for a market cume of $39.7 million.

So we are now at 240 mds WW as I predicted it ! lol

Japan is Awesome !

The Movie could gross more than 250 mds WW !

Sony must let the movie do its own Run in Japan...It could still gross something like 10 mds easily here with 45 mds total !

Look at how well Paranormal Activity continues to do in total gross, despite the fact that it is in its 9th week and the number of theaters have reduced.. It's doing a few hundred K daily and just about a million and a half in the weekends.. But they don't consider that trivial and they keep it going.. And it remains on theaters, and has steady turn out, and it keeps grossing.. And it's total is now over a 100!!

That's how the story goes.. And I'm SO sure that if TII too could stay for 9 weeks, its total gross would also be equivalent..

It's all-obvious to me: Interest in the movie has NOT faded, it's a pitty that they want to pull it out before Christmas.. All it needs is to stay and with another push it will do just brilliantly..

I understand. But it's only in half the theaters it was in previously. Even with another 6 weeks to get to $100m domestically, it'd have to average $5 million a week, and with fewer theaters, I just don't think it's going to happen, especially with the competition that is now out there.

TII is the highest grossing concert movie EVER now. IMO, it should have gotten $100m domestically already because of its quality, but I've reconciled myself to it being a concert movie, and they just don't do the kind of business other kinds of films do.

Just think...that MJ's is #1 with $70m, Miley's is #2 with $65m, and the #3 with the Jonas
Brothers drops down to only $19m. (Check out the below)

If not for MJ and Miley, $19m would represent the highest grossing concert movie documentary ever.

When you put it all in context with the genre, the fact that TII actually generated $70m domestically is phenomenal!!! I'm hoping it'll make $5m this Thanksgiving weekend, but after that through Christmas, I don't think the numbers will come remotely close to that, especially if the number of screens continue to drop.
But again, TII has already accomplished a major feat.

But the interest in the movie has NOT died out, that's why I say it has potential if it keeps going, and can gross more.. little by little, week by week..it can get at the 90's level, i bet you..

final BO : 73 M USA...

BO in Japan is awesome ! already 33 M and counting...it could reach 50 M here if Sony expands it in Japan after 3rd December.

Indeed it did better this weekend than expected, finishing in the top 10.. And notice that it is the only movie in the top10 -other than Couples retreat- that has more than three weeks since its release..
Interest is still there, period. Let's hope Sony gets the message..
