hopless folks.....the whole this is it project is just about mony, and has nothing to do with mj´s art....
dont buy the crap

i think we will only find out once we here it..

My guess regarding the 2 versions. The first version is the 1980 TRUIMPH outtake. I think the other version will still contain MJ's 1980 vocals but the music will be new and current sounding. I really doubt MJ would record new vocals for this.

This is great news. Everything Michael wrote around this time period was gold. I have a good feeling about this.

Oooohhh.... I wonder if it will sound Off the wall/Triumph-esque....

I love those two albums so I can't wait to hear the song... OMG! I'm so excited to hear this song!

Fantastic News. Triumph was the Golden Era. His voice never sounded better than during that time.

Can´t wait for the single!

Hooray! Someone who knows what they're talking about.

Its possible Mike had two songs called the same thing... Eg. One More Chance by The Jackson 5, then One More Chance by The Jacksons, then One More Chance by Michael Jackson... three completely different songs.

Little Suzie was written in 1979 but Mike sure didnt use the 1979 version on HIStory album.

So there is every chance it really is a new song... especially considering the press release said he wrote it FOR the TII tour....

All I wanna say is that Sony had better release this properly... iTunes, CD single, all of that. If they dont they basically ignoring the fact that this could be an enormous #1 global hit.

I think you´re wrong!

Why should they put 2 songs on the album with the same Titel but in the end they are total different songs- Two totally different songs with nothing in common than the Titel??

No I don´t believe it.

It is the same song in two different versions! But still the same song!
The first version is the original version from 1979 and the second version is the same song and probably the same vocals but with a modern playback maybe a whole orchestra.

What the heck are u talking about lol!

I just meant that the songs on the This Is It album may be different than the one he did 30 years ago.... THAT is highly possible for sure.

The press release says "brand new"

But MJ wrote a Song called This is it already in 79/80 with Jackson Brothers vocals -maybe it was a great song but didn´t fit the vibe for Triumph album and MJ was waiting for the right opportunity to release it.
So in 2009 he felt it is the right song for the right time.

And the press release says "brand new" LOLLL Of course it is brand new or was the song released before???? Have you heard it before????
If Sony brings out a CD with Bad Studio Tracks that didn´t make it on the album they will also say brand new MJ songs-
3 Months ago a brand new Mozart track was discovered- And the brand new track was from 1788..............

do you not understand that just because it has the same title, it can be an entirely different song?

Different Song with the Jackson Brothers doing background vocals......what a coincidence.

Arty I clearly stated that
The Jackson 5 with MJ on lead had a song - One More Chance
The Jacksons Victory album has a song - One More Chance
Michael Jackson solo on #1s has a song - One More Chance

SONGS CAN HAVE THE SAME TITLE AND BE DIFFERENT SONGS

Jeez!

That's weird - because I looked up This is It on MJs BMI songwriter/publishing and it doesn't appear.

AT ALL.

Maybe Sony will register it once the single comes out?

PS: MJ has 182 listings under his authorship as a songwriter.

My 10 cents:

I believe that Michael meant what he said years ago about not writing any more "new" music for release through Sony.

I remember him saying something like, he only owed them one or a couple more song(s) and compilations sets, and that he was gonna use a song(s) he had written years ago...

* (If anyone has that video, please post it) *

So, the "new" song will be brand new to us if it's never been released/published before, uh, at least the music will  Michael's vocals and lyrics are timeless, so that doesn't really matter, to me anyways.

But of course, I could be sincerely wrong. we'll just have to wait & see :)

MsMo, what MJ meant then was to end his contract all he needed to do was give them a few songs for a Box Set "that I wrote aaaaages ago" lol.. he said that in 2002... Then those songs he gave us to end his contract were on The Ultimate Collection (2004)... But Michael stayed on with Sony which is obvious after he proceeded to release and participate in Thriller 25 - contriubuting to production of songs and even lending brand new vocals to WBSS, and later authorized King Of Pop (which sony wanted to call his "50th BIRTHDAY release" but MJ made them call his "50th anniversary" release).

So those songs he wrote ages ago were given to us in 2004.. BUT.. thats not to say he didnt conceptualize this song in the 80's.... Like I said, Little Suzie was written in 1979, and released in 1995. It is evident that MJ RE-MADE the song, as his vocals and arrangement are not 1979esque.

He may have done the same here... OR... it may be a BRAND NEW SONG with the SAME NAME?

No one knows... but there are a bunch of possibilities.

geez there's some sandwichs short of picnics on this forum. Damien explained it, I explained it. It's not rocket science.
