I dont think smooth criminal is sung live smelly fan..
If that's what you want to believe... I'm not going to argue, as it's ridiculous... there are plenty of big acts, who are live without backing tracks! Its a fact.
Bullshit... Prince is all live... time and time again he mentioned how he doesn't care for lipsyncers! Of course... tracks of background vocals is a different story... but to brush over all artists and say all of them do it, on their lead vocals, is ridiculous!I will say it again, EVERY huge artist such as Madonna/Britney/Prince/Justin and Michael, have specially recorded backing tracks that they have recorded specifically and timed to the second for the concert, they decide if and when and how often and how loud they are turned on usually with hand gestures or touching their face nose ears whatever and the man on the multi million £ mixing desk watches every move, the artists also has a live microphone and sings along with the track HE/SHE specifically recorded for the act and add libs as required. It isn't a bad thing its just how its done and why these concerts are pretty much flawless. Even if he sings live the backiong will still be happening, how is he supposed to replicate a song that has HIS voice layered over and over at the same time and breath and dance.
With regards to Rock Stars, I will say this.....sometimes they do choose to mime at events (or sing LIVE behind a backing track, meaning the Band don't play). Bon Jovi have mimed during performances at some Award shows and 'Top Of The Pops'. But he's never mimed at a concert.
^^BS... If a Mic dies, it dies... simple is that... there is no need for trickery! That's life! It is not the norm to use backing tracks... unless you do not have any talent or you're doing a dance heavy show and can't do both at the same time! There's ALWAYS a backing track, BUT it's up to the artist to use it. It's only there for emergencies usually, if tech has issues and your mic dies, you wanna be able to keep going. The more intense and physical the shows are, the more they usually get used.
Just to back up this comment, listen to the first line of this performance:^^BS... If a Mic dies, it dies... simple is that...

I love that jacket
It is my opinion from what I have seen ( backstage at concerts ) perhaps not Prince I may have been wrong there because I don't particularly like him, I was more speaking about calibre by lumping him in the list.
What I will say is I managed to have an alternate opinion than your self without resorting to words like "bullshit" regarding your posts. Show some respect even if you disagree with me I am a fan just like you.
When Michael lip syncs songs like Smooth Criminal and Dangerous i have no problem with that. But when he lip syncs songs like You Are Not Alone and Heal The World that's when i cringe.

Well, when I see bs, then I call bs... and to say that Prince is not all live is bs! Sorry if that offends you... and to lump all the acts, who'd rather be shot dead, than to use backing tracks, together to make it more justifiable for Michael to use backing tracks is kinda bs too! I've been to over 200 concerts and the great majority of them have been live!
