The Essential has been consistently in the top 25-30 on the UK charts for the entirety of 2023, so these sale figures make sense.

The Essential has also replaced Number Ones in both the USA and UK, and considering the sales figures are usually from those two countries, it is not known how much Number Ones sells each year, sadly.

With a million a year, Number Ones must have sold 20M+ worldwide by now, or am I missing something?

yes that's the exact figures in the last 48 weeks,only albums charted on billboard 200 albums.
