What are they for?
Good question. Normally, you only need your red light at the back of the bike and a white light at the front. I'm not sure why you'd need indicator lights on a bicycle. You'd use your arms and hands to indicate if you were turning left or right. They look like indicator lights to me but I have no idea if that's what they actually are.

Aha, so those usual—red back, light front—are called indicator lights? Because what, they’re indicating what’s front and back?

Yes, why would you need two of those in the front?
