Very good series, Blacklist. James Spader is a master actor.

Robin Gibb was a fan. I really liked (the idea! of) the tribute they payed to him after his passing.
Pleased for them that Robin Gibb liked them but I still don't. They are not actually crap, of course. That's just me being melodramatic. But I can't stand his whiny voice and the whiny songs and the boring all-their-everything. Not my guys, at all.

No

Ik eet pannenkoeken = I eat pancakes
Ik smul pannekoeken = means the same but using smullen emphasizes how much you’re enjoying it.
As far as I know there is no english word for “smullen”
Interesting.

Can you confirm that it is indeed the word that is listed on Wiktionary under this link.

The Swedish word would be ‘frossa’. You see it under ‘Etymology 2’ on Wiktionary.

Completely understandable. I guess if you don’t like that voice, then it’s uphill from there. And really, what else is there? All their songs are instrumentally basically the same, aren’t they? 😆

That's the thing. If I don't like a voice I'll never get to first base. It's not about the voice being good or bad. His voice is decent enough, as it happens (although terribly nasal and whiny), but I really don't like the sound so, as you say, there's nowhere to go.

They really are and, again, that isn't the end of the world. You could say that about many bands / artists. But their particular sound / style / whatever just leaves me cold.

@Agonum actually yes but I don’t agree with the given translation at all. But maybe there is a difference in meaning depending on the area I live in. There are actually tons of dialects in Dutch or words that mean A in the North and B in the South. So that translation is probably correct but nobody where I live uses it like that (actually nobody uses smullen much in the first place lol)

similar words with different meaning. Our most famous exemple is “poepen” in the North (The Netherlands) it means “pooping” in the South (or Belgium/Flanders) it means “having sex”. I kid you not 🙂

I figured it had to do with something like that.

Wiktionary have ‘smul’ listed as an inflection of ‘smullen’; link.

Oh, that’s an interesting word in describing a song. How do you mean ‘thin’? In regards to the lyrics? The arrangements (lol)? The “aura”?
Plinky-plonky 80's electro pop is always on the thin side. But theirs is extra thin. Musically.
