Smultron is a very cool word. The “smul“ part is used in dutch for saying you really like the food you eat. “ ik smul van dit brood” it is not just eating, it is eating with great taste.
Are you sure they are cognates?

‘brood’ = ‘bröd’ = ‘bread’?

‘Smultron’ is a very old word, from Old Swedish, attested from the 13th century but most probably considerably older. Etymologically, it is likely from ‘smulter’ (“loose”) with our aforementioned “berry-suffix” ‘-on’.

Edit: Typo.

because it is British andwe all used that oil to move unlike you which sits on your bum all day eating sweets taunting me

seriously it was on telly all the time , also it still available and your sweet wrapper/box reminded me of that.
Slander! I don’t even eat sweets!

But isn’t ‘smullen’ just to eat quickly?
No

Ik eet pannenkoeken = I eat pancakes
Ik smul pannekoeken = means the same but using smullen emphasizes how much you’re enjoying it.
As far as I know there is no english word for “smullen”
