The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

Hey, i read this thread for a long time now, and must say that im really excited about the work and dedication of many of the users here, thank you for this ;)

I also have a question as i couldnt find the answer anywhere: Where did the early leaks come from? I mean the leaks of the early 2000s., Some of the Dangerous songs are from the cancelled bonus disc of the dangerous special edition but what about hot street, nite light, for all time, what about us etc.?

I know several unreleased tracks leaked from Dangerous test-pressings (What About Us, For All Time, Serious Effect, etc.), others leaked from canceled special edition releases that were auctioned off.

I knew of the Dangerous test pressings and canceled special edition, but never heard from (a bigger) special editon for Thriller or Bad. I also can't remember on a leaked song or demo from the Bad era back then, but if there were planes for big special editions for Thriller and Dangerous, there would for sure also a big special edition be planned for Bad. So where are those songs and demos? Which songs were planned for those special editions for Bad and Thriller? I think it would be very intersting to know what was planned to be released back then, especially as the special edition of Dangerous won't have been short.

Yes, there were earlier versions with more tracks for the Thriller and Bad special editions. I know Bad originally had Someone Put Your Hand Out in addition to Streetwalker and Fly Away. I recall Thriller having Starlight and Hot Street.

Thank you for those informations, didn't knew that accept for Dangerous. But were did the other songs came from like hot street, nite line, she's trouble, there must be more to life than this, what about us, the girl is mine (demo) etc.? As they were not planed to be released on any special edition there wasn't any kind of test pressing. Or were the plans changed several times?

They just leaked in the early 2000s onto the internet.

Songs were compiled on tapes and/or cds during the sessions and held on to.....eventually they get traded and the domino effect begins.

Nite Line was close to being released during Thriller to coincide with the release of a digital clock.

I wonder why he didn't release history disc 2 (s.e)

If we get no proof of this clock thing that’s fucking hilarious, right up there with Who do you Know being a demo to behind the mask.

Yes what's with the clock thing @BlackAnon ?

I do wonder if there is more of Nite Line than the leaked demo because that's not much and pretty awful imo

You guys should know by now how reliable I’ve been in these threads by the information and clippings I’ve posted. Trying to find this stuff is like a needle in a haystack sometimes.

There was a clock/radio device in the early 80s that he was supposed to collaborate with, hence releasing Nite Line. The device didn’t pick up steam and was ultimately scrapped.

Not questioning your reliability at all, and applauding the input actually! It wouldn't surprise me at the least if it MJ's version was meant for a commercial..

I like this way way more than the released versions and MJ's demo to be honest, a bit of a 'Tom Tom Club' vibe:

Looks like an early version of Remember the Time.

MJ could have worked further on the song post OTW sessions.
he did since the date of creation for the song in copyright is 1980.....just wondering if it was a mistake on the editors end or if Michael stated it was for OTW during the deposition
