I’m surprised by the lack of leaks we have from the HIStory era; is there any reason for this?
There isn't all that much from that era in regards to unreleased material.

Bro, no. Regarding the lyrics, eh, defo not MJs best take ever, but the instrumental for it is groovy as hell.Abortion Papers on the other hand has to be the worst song from Bad lol.
My opinion is the exact opposite of that, good vocals, bad instrumental. Given the theme I'm surprised the Estate had the guts to release the song, I doubt they'd do that nowadays lol.Bro, no. Regarding the lyrics, eh, defo not MJs best take ever, but the instrumental for it is groovy as hell.
I find it to be the weakest bonus of Bad 25. Never really appealed to me.Guys, How good would DBMR have been if it was finished, in the Bad era, cause MJ said it was gonna be BIG
Source please. I thought it was Bruce Swedien who advocated for the track.Guys, How good would DBMR have been if it was finished, in the Bad era, cause MJ said it was gonna be BIG
The song was finished and Bruce Swedien said it's great. It makes me bitter that the Estate decided to release an unfinished version instead of the best there is.Guys, How good would DBMR have been if it was finished, in the Bad era, cause MJ said it was gonna be BIG
I always found it weird why the estate chose to release the first demo Michael did for the song, when there were more complete vocals recorded later on. Just doesn’t make sense to me.I find it to be the weakest bonus of Bad 25. Never really appealed to me.
Bruce said it was a ballad that Michael played piano onSource please. I thought it was Bruce Swedien who advocated for the track.
I don’t think it was ever finished, to my knowledge only a more polished vocal and some additional instrumentation was added. The song was finished and Bruce Swedien said it's great. It makes me bitter that the Estate decided to release an unfinished version instead of the best there is.
I think he said that Michael told him that it was gonna be BIG, although I may be wrongSource please. I thought it was Bruce Swedien who advocated for the track.
I wouldn’t necessarily consider Don’t Be Messin’ to be a ballad…Bruce said it was a ballad that Michael played piano on
DYKWYCA was recorded after Bad was released, so this is true.Song Groove and Do You Know wouldn't have made the album for sure
Do we know what the 1991 version sounds like if it even exists?DYKWYCA was recorded after Bad was released, so this is true.
I wasn’t aware a 1991 version was recorded. I thought the song was primarily worked on circa 1987-1988.Do we know what the 1991 version sounds like if it even exists?
MANY people say that there was one, either one of two things:I wasn’t aware a 1991 version was recorded. I thought the song was primarily worked on circa 1987-1988.
There’s 3 versionsI don’t think it was ever finished, to my knowledge only a more polished vocal and some additional instrumentation was added.
DYK was first recorded in 86 which is the version we haveDYKWYCA was recorded after Bad was released, so this is true.
Bruce Swedien said the mix on Bad 25 was the first demo MJ did for that song. Also, Korg’s mix is not the Dangerous version of the song, it just featured some of the vocals from that session. There’s 3 versions
Thriller - Unreleased
Bad - from B25
Dangerous - leaked

Yeah my bad, all Bruce said was that the version from 2007 is a killer track.I don’t think it was ever finished, to my knowledge only a more polished vocal and some additional instrumentation was added.
The 1986 version is the only vocal take there is. I don't know about the Dangerous version but the HIStory version only has a different drum sound.Do we know what the 1991 version sounds like if it even exists?
There's also a version made for T25 and MJ was still working on it up until he died. There’s 3 versions

"HOPING TO RESUSCITATE his sputtering career, Michael Jackson is reportedly returning to a reliable source: his own 1982 album. According to reports, Jackson plans to spruce up the 25th anniversary of the album by adding four remixes of Thriller tracks. Those lending a helping sequined gloved hand on the remixes for “Wanna Be Startin’ Something,” “The Girl Is Mine,” “Billie Jean,” and “P.Y.T.” are Kanye West, Akon, and Will.i.am. Additionally, Jackson’s music attorney Peter Lopez says four leftover tracks from the Thriller sessions will be featured. One of the songs, “Don’t Be Messin’ Around,” is hyped as “killer” by Jacko’s ex-producer Bruce Swedien."
"None of these appear. But “Deep In The Night” does appears - once - in the same list as Saturday Woman, Don’t Be Messin, Hollywood Tonight and others."
There's also a version made for T25 and MJ was still working on it up until he died.

Btw could this be the Thriller era version? It sounds different than the Dangerous era version that Korgnex leaked so it can't be the same.

And Prince fans would still have a superiority complex lol. "Only 1 triple disc?" LolIf Quincy let MJ turn Bad into a 3-disc album the fans would've been fed for a whole decade lol. The only downside is that the vault would be even more empty nowadays.
the snippet is allegedly from 1990Btw could this be the Thriller era version? It sounds different than the Dangerous era version that Korgnex leaked so it can't be the same.
I remember this snippet popped up shortly before the Michael album released, and none of us could determine whether or not it was authentic given the lack of clear vocals. Crazy to listen to it now and know that it’s the real deal.Btw could this be the Thriller era version? It sounds different than the Dangerous era version that Korgnex leaked so it can't be the same.
