Re: Status hearings discussion thread / next hearing Feb 24th

yes. the pros will be using these witnesses no doubt and thats why the defence is wanting to use these witnesses. it sthe defence who have to counter act the pros witnesses and evidence not the other way around. excpet for maybe the rebutal at the end.

Re: Status hearings discussion thread / next hearing Feb 24th

Character witnesses for the defence are fine, (God knows he's gonna need them) but Murray saving a man after he had a heart attack, 'no big deal' after all, he is a doctor, and that patient hadn't been overdosed on propofol. It's not unusual for any person with basic first aid training to keep a heart attack victim alive until paramedics arrive.

Demerol is a none flier, end of story.

It's clear the defence are dirty players but it won't help unless they can prove Murray wasn't even in the country at the time.

I'm so looking forward to watching Murrays face when the jury say 'Guilty'

I couldn't help smiling at that!! You know a lot of fans will make a siggy out of it too.

Re: Status hearings discussion thread / next hearing Feb 24th

Right so what he saved a man after a heart attack, that is what he's supposed to do since he's a cardiologist/heart doctor but when it came to MJ he forgot how to do just about everything including calling 911. I really hope the jury sees through this fool and convict him

Re: Status hearings discussion thread / next hearing Feb 24th

Any word on the media arrangements for this if I remember correctly the stations were supposed to return and give the judge an outline of their coverage. Any word?

Re: Status hearings discussion thread / next hearing Feb 28th

This is from AP

A judge says he is considering delaying the trial of the doctor charged in Michael Jackson's death because the physician's attorneys haven't turned over witness statements to prosecutors.

Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor says he is extremely distressed by the lack of information that defense attorneys have given to prosecutors in advance of a trial slated to begin March 24.

Defense attorney J. Michael Flanagan says attorneys are still preparing their case and expect to continue their investigation even after trial starts.

That stunned Pastor, who says he may delay the trial or fine attorneys who aren't complying with rules requiring them to give potential evidence to prosecutors 30 days before trial.

Re: Status hearings discussion thread / next hearing Feb 28th

^the 30 days timeline has already been broken

Re: Status hearings discussion thread / next hearing Feb 28th

is that a new article. ie the thats just been said and the hearing is underway or are they just quoting from the last hearing

Re: Status hearings discussion thread / next hearing Feb 28th

I know but apparently they have been turning some stuff in but not all.

@elusive

AP posted that story 15 minutes ago.

Re: Status hearings discussion thread / next hearing Feb 28th

Pastor needs to fine them.. They obviously don't have a case so they are delaying and delaying. There is absolutely no excuse for what Murray gave MJ and his team knows it.. MJ needs justice and with this latest farse, Mike's family needs to be front and center screaming from the mountain tops to put Murray's behind in jail and take all of his licenses from him

I wondered the same thing. I googled around but I couldn't find any other stories about this. What time was the hearing supposed to start? Seems like such skimpy info. Also wasn't today's hearing supposed to decide about that attorney Gourjian?

Re: Status hearings discussion thread / next hearing Feb 28th

i think its just info from the last hearing and AP have put it out there as a recap as theres gonna be a hearing today

all the judge has to do is tell the defence that any witness they wanna use that doesnt have a witness statement to go with it wont be admissable. u can bet then paperwork will be coming from everywhere

Re: Status hearings discussion thread / next hearing Feb 28th

I am NOT the least bit surprised about this at all...the defense has nothing...and they are trying to stall. Murray wanted a fast and speedy trial....I think THAT was the first delay tactic...they say one thing and then do another.

Re: Status hearings discussion thread / next hearing Feb 28th

Today's hearing was in the morning 9 AM. so it has been some time since the hearing. The judge might not made any decisions yet and that might be the reasons for not so many news.

Team Michael website says that the judge will meet with Weitzman and Geragos on March 3rd at his chambers. If true, I wouldn't expect a decision about the new lawyer before that.

Exactly... he wanted a speedy trial yet he tells the judge they aren't ready and they're still investigating? They think this is a joke I guess.. What are they investigating? Murray is the one that drugged MJ to death and the only meds in MJ system were Murray's.. What exactly are they investigating?

Feb. 28th summary and next hearing date

Everyone I just wanted to stop in and give a quick update on todays proceedings.
Judge Pastor has ordered Murray to be at the next hearing, the prosecution has made a motion for the case to be delayed due to their belief that the defense is not ready, the defense asserts that the prosecution has not provided all evidence that should be in their possesion including surveilance footage of time frame when Michael Jackson arrived home and ambulance departures next morning. Prosecution states they have given defense all they have and defense has failed to turn over discory of defense witnsees and expected testimony overview.

Judge Pastor stated he intends to start sanctioning prosecution and defense 1500 a day for any side of counsel that fails to meet orders of discovery and possible proclusion of witnesses thereby not allowing them to testify. He informed prosecution they would need to site additional statutes for him to consider ruling on delaying the trial.

The next hearing is scheduled for 2:00p.m. this Wed.

I suggest everyone who is able to attend. We do not want the court to give any reasons for mistrial and they should know that many are watching their efforts in the pursuit of justice.

If time permits I will type up additional hearing information to share tomorrow.

Here's a little more detail

Michael Jackson case: Dr. Conrad Murray's lawyers face $1,500-a-day fines

A judge threatened Monday to hit Dr. Conrad Murray’s lawyers with $1,500-a-day fines for failing to share evidence with prosecutors before the physician's trial next month in the death of Michael Jackson.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor told lawyers for the pop icon’s personal physician that he would impose the fines or other sanctions Wednesday unless they met their legal obligation to turn over witness statements and expert reports to prosecutors.

“I am extremely distressed about the state of this case and whether in fact the defense is ready for trial,” Pastor said.

Murray is set to go on trial March 24, but prosecutors have repeatedly asked the judge to delay the case, saying the defense is not ready for trial because it has not shared materials concerning its witnesses.

Murray has refused to waive his right to a speedy trial, as most defendants do, to preserve his right to practice medicine. Pastor stripped him of his California medical license, but authorities in Texas and Nevada, where he practices, have agreed to await the conclusion of the trial to make their decisions, his lawyers said.

Murray, 57, is charged with involuntary manslaughter and has pleaded not guilty. Jackson died in 2009 from an overdose of the surgical anesthetic propofol.

Re: Feb. 28th summary and next hearing date

It appears to me that the Defense is struggling to come up with a viable defense. LOL!

I mean, it was THEM who asked for a quick trial.

They are probably having a hard time finding an expert witness who will testify that giving Dipravan in a home setting, without the proper equipment is an alright thing to do.

They can talk-the-talk, but they can't walk-the-walk!

Now we know why he wanted a speedy trial...

I don't understand Flanagan and his 'I haven't done this for the last 10 years' rationale regarding witness statements. If the law is clear on this, then who is correct? If Flanagan is wrong, how did he get by?

Team Michael website says that the judge will meet with Weitzman and Geragos on March 3rd at his chambers. If true, I wouldn't expect a decision about the new lawyer before that.

Thanks. I'd forgotten that Geragos wanted a private meeting with the judge!
