1979 and a young Michael sits in the car of Philly barber Robert "Woody" Woodard. The pop star and his brothers came into the Wynnefield barber shop for a cut in the 1970s before a concert.
Woody will never forget the day [Michael] Jackson walked into his Wynnefield shop looking for a haircut. The pop star was in town with his brothers for a concert at The Spectrum.
"He walks in the door, everybody's mouths wide open…nobody could believe it," Woodard told NBC10's Byron Scott.
The barber was even able to pose for two photos with the Jackson's as Michael sat behind the wheel of Woody's classic 1947 Cadillac. Those pictures remain prominently fixed to the wall of the aged shop. In the second photo is Woody and Marlon.
[2009] "I have not accepted Michael Jackson's death. I hate that people said, 'Well he's dead,' but I have not," said Woodard. "I am too busy thinking about all the life and all the direction and where he was going, how much more he had to do."
[Michael] Jackson last performed in Philadelphia in 1984 at the now extinct JFK Stadium in South Philadelphia, but he will be forever remembered in the hearts of all Philadelphians -- both young and old. He recorded two albums at the famous Philadelphia International Records as part of "The Jacksons."
At the link is a video of 'Woody' talking about Michael.

When you meet real talent, it’s overwhelming.
"The night Michael Jackson came to see me backstage was, in contrast, simply surreal. When word got round that he was coming backstage after a performance, all the kids in the chorus wanted to say hello, but Suzanne [PA] vetoed it. No wonder she wasn’t everyone’s Little Miss Favorite. Michael was in my dressing room having tea with me for 40 minutes. He was with Quincy Jones, they had been to see the show together.
Michael was fascinated by the show and it’s old fashioned innocence. He took great interest in my appearance, the white face and charcoal lined eyes, the above ankle length trousers, white socks and patent leather shoes. He was particularly intrigued that I had studied at RADA. I told him that I have been very influenced by Keaton and Chaplin, Jacques Tati, Marcel Marceau and Gene Kelly. He became very animated at the mention of such names and I realized that he was a lot more than just a pop star, he was a very serious performer indeed.
At one point Michael asked me if he could use the phone ‘Yeah sure’ I said. Just dial 9 for an outside line “ Michael was saying into the phone “Yeah, OK can I just say goodnight. Yeah. Goodnight baby. Robert, do you want to say goodnight to Bubbles?” I whispered to Quincy “Who’s Bubbles “ and Quincy said “Its Michael chimpanzee. Just say goodnight. It won’t hurt. Its OK “So I went over, took the phone and said “Hi, its Robert here” And I could hear these noises at the other end coming from the chimp! Michael Jackson has asked me to say goodnight to a chimpanzee and there I was doing exactly as he requested” Robert Lindsay, excerpt from his book, ‘Letting Go.’
Wow I haven't seen some of these!!
