Official Charts Thread For ''Michael''

I agree with that. The only thing that matter for corporates is the bottom line. TV advert is too expensive specially on Superbowl Sunday and Grammy night. It's expensive for a reason because it's the best marketing there is. I don't think the profit margin is worth it though for a CD.

IMO, releasing HT very soon is the best way to renew momentum on album sales.

I do my own charting at my local Walmart. Every 2 weeks I count the CDs left on their shelves. So far only 5 have sold the past 2 weeks.:(
There's 47 CDs left.

How do you know they are not 're-stocking' the shelves in the 2 weeks you are absent?

'Michael' is still performing strong in the 'Worldwide' charts. This weeks 'United World Chart' shows the album holding at #3

The album's run on this chart so far is;

#1 - #2 - #2 - #3 - #3

World chart wise, I think this is a better run than 'This is it'. Another single would return this album back to #1, although I don't think Sony 'have the stomach' for another single release.

Such a shame really.

Yes yes, poor Sony Music. :violin:

I'm sure they're crying themselves to sleep every night because of the mean-spirited bullies who wanted to sabotage this album.

Where did I say that?

Get off your soapbox, or try one of the hundreds of 'haters' threads that already exist - this is a 'Charts Thread' in case you hadn't noticed.

Sweden chart update

'Michael' is #16 (last week #15)

'Hold My Hand' is #8 (last week #10)

'Vision' is # 19

On an interesting note.. the DVD 'Live in Bucharest' has re-entered the chart and is #10.. and 'Number Ones DVD' has also re-entered the chart and is #18

I've seen a lot of albums had a sudden jump this week, probably many of them have been discounted.
But the album didn't jump, it fell down. Michael's run on Finnish chart was:
1st week: #22
2nd week: #9
3rd week: #15
4th week: #11
5th week: #14
6th week: out of top 50

When I go check again next week, I'll take the time to ask the clerk if they've been restocking it. :cheeky:

Okay, maybe I'll see you in one of the 'denial' threads...

How many copies have been sold worldwide by now?

Did we ever get sale figures from China?

So far the two CDs that Sony streamed online Invincible and Michael are the ones that sold the least. I'd rethink this marketing strategy if I was them.

Maybe put money toward payola for more radio airplay.

It's all about America though. It really isn't good, and I really don't like that it's not doing that well in America or England (because let's face it, that's almost all people in in the music industry cares about), but it hasn't done THAT bad in the world over all.

But yea, I thought it would do better than it has and that really sucks...

I could have done a better job than all the people who ballsed this up. I guarantee I could have sold more copies than Sony did. And done a better job of the design and the compilation of the album.

they deffo messed up this album, there should be a 2nd single out the now, least if a new single was out, it create buzz again cauze alot of ppl dont even know bout the album

I think last week I read that they played Britney Spears new song on 600 radio stations. I heard it today on the radio. It's #1 on itunes. Hold My Hand should have been playing like that. That's what I thought would happen. New music would be playing. I know Michael isn't here but the promotion should have been better. I wonder if they think this promotion was good.

all is over for this album, this album is dead and buried in charts and media, next project off the wall or bad tour wembley please!

One very important thing that this project lacks is LOVE - LOVE for Michael Jackson. This project is not done with love.

This Is It is done with love for the man. The Opus is done with love for the man.

I've had the pleasure of seeing drawings done by fans in the last few days. The fans can create more heartfelt and impressive artworks than the professional artists hired by the Estate.

Look at the eyes of Michael on the album cover, do you feel the kindness and warmth you usually see in Michael's eyes? I don't.

I actually would love to move on to the next project.

And you think that is the reason why the album under performed? I have seen albums with worst artwork perform better.

So that argument is....BS

Let's put the blame where it belongs: John McClain & some Jacksons.

For once, I am not blaming Sony for any of this ish.

Blame Jealousy & greed.

No, I didn't say the album cover is the only reason for the underperformance of the album. I just used it as an example of how I don't feel the whole project is being handled with love and respect.

There are other major reasons for the lack of performance. I don't think this thread is the right place to discuss.

I don't know who to blame. I just hope whoever involved learned their lessons and do a better job next time.

Maybe if they release a 2nd single it might help a bit. But they have to do it better than how Hold My hand was treated. I am no expert or anything but you see what is happening with others and I don't see why Michael can't have the chance too.
