Official Charts Thread For ''Michael''

The "Michael " album contains simply the BEST MUSIC out there.
That is what the music lovers of the world are finding out.
"Word of Mouth" will be stronger than petty music industry jealousies.
Please continue encouraging your friends listen :music: to the the "Michael" album for themselves, and they will agree.

i can see where your coming from, but postmuous releases by 2pac even went number 1. and well with MJ it's another story arguably the greatest ever to touch a mic, so when he doesn't get a number 1 charting it should raise an eyebrow or 2.

I understand that (and the frustration many fans, inluding myself at first, feel), But did Tupac hit nymber one in 7 countries (and top 5 and 10 in many others) in addition to hitting number one in the states? No. It just gets annoying when fans keep claiming the album is performing badly in comparison to other currently "hot", LIVE artist. I look at it differently...the album is performing wonderfuly despite, no promo, hate from the jackson fam as well as some "fans", and most importantly without MJ.

What are the numbers for the recent week in the UK. We know the album was #5 this week. Did it sell over 100,000 again?

Yes He did but...

1 Take That 434,362
2 Rihanna 306,108 (to date: 820,544)
3 Michael Buble 205,770
4 Olly Murs 131,192
5 Michael Jackson 105,001
6 JLS 104,506
7 Susan Boyle 101,903
8 Bon Jovi 96,091
9 Black Eyed Peas 95,709
10 Kings Of Leon 88,353

Is Take That group just popular in the UK? How about the rest of the world? I look to the success of Michael's album around the world. Not just one country or one chart. Michael was a global star and loved. This album has had like little promotion and Michael isn't here and it still was the #1 album in the world.

Wow... 434,000 copies for Take That in the UK! That new album will soon be in the top selling albums of all time there if this keeps up. It's selling unbelievably well. Total sales in the UK are now at 1.8 million! (6X platinum) I can't believe people in the UK are buying this album so much. This band must be like god over there!

As for MICHAEL... it's now sold 218,000 in the first two weeks which isn't bad at all. It should reach platinum in two weeks (300,000). If Sony can get a successful second single, that will help sales dramatically and could even allow it to reach 600,000 (2x platinum).

May I just give a quick reminder to everyone that posts with under three words in every forum is considered spam so please stop putting punctuation marks on it to get it round the filter. Its a general rule of thumb, posts should be at least three words. Thanks.

At least he beat Susan Boyle there!

Exactly.

Number one isn't everything. It would still be nice for him to hit #1 even after the Holidays, but let's not go crazy over it.

The preliminary hearing starts in a week....

Great numbers for Michael...barely a drop in its 2nd week. No buts about it....

so hes not number 1 in the us or UK again for the second week? wow very disappointing. yeah i know what you're gonna say " He wasn't here to promote and it was poor promotion and controversy blah blah blah i still am disappointed and heartbroken that album didn't get to number and has people like Olly murs and Taylor swift ahead of him and it didn't have the impact of a michael Jackson album like it was suppose to.

i feel so empty inside. :(

You feel empty because the album isn't #1 in the US & UK..? Ok...

Soooo , michael didn't get the US number 1 for the second week huh? so disappointed.
And i know what you guys are thinking "Oh nono its cause of lack of promo and controversy and etc." Well i for one AM still heartbroken and disappointed in the results of "michael". This is arguably the king of pop rock and soul, and the first album after his death doesn't even get the number one in US or UK and does more poorly than "this is it" soundtrack which was ANOTHER greatest hits collection. The numbers were lower than teddy Riley, Sony and whoever else projected it to be .This is another case of invincible all over , a masterpiece of art completely overshadowed , once AGAIN. i love being a michael Jackson fan , but sometimes it gets very frustrating. VERY

This really hurts. Doesn't look good at all. I guess we never cared what others thing about MJ, becuase we're all still around even though it's been said so much. But for his first album after his death not to hit the nr 1 spot in niether the UK or The States is not good, not good at all.

UK album charts with sales:

It doesn't look good for MJ - It is strong but .... Look at Buble sales or Rihnanna and can't beleive it.

Worldwide 'Michael' ousold all of those artists last week.

Also, how many 'Progress' albums have Take That sold in the US? One thousand? One hundred? Nil?

Take that are huge in the UK, do well in some European countries, but do almost nothing elsewhere. 'Michael' will outsell 'Progress' Worldwide - no problem.

100,000+ sales in 2 consecutive weeks - for a dead artist, only 1 single, and not being a 'Christmas album' in the slightest - is a fantastic result. Better than 'This is it' by miles!

WHO THE HELL BUYS THIS TTs ALBUM???

I listened to this album 2x and ... its so ordinary repeating electronic pop..., most of the songs are similar, I really dont understand the taste of the British.
Once there was the Oasis wave now Take That....

Whats interesting is that Take That is totally ignored in the rest of the world.

anyway, there was the boyband era and only Michael survived and won the battle.

Take That can enjoy their only UK fame now... but what about in 10 years ?....:punk:

Sorry but i for one am disappointed and heartbroken that album didn't get to number and didn't get the numbers anyone was hoping for and has people like Olly murs and Taylor swift surpassing him by a large margin. It didn't have the impact i was hoping for and it kind of a letdown to be quite honest, although it is a great album , michael deserves much better.

i feel so empty inside. :( i miss michael

It's not about music, it's about Robbie Williams looks.. Many girls and women would like to *** him. It is the same with David Beckham in football.

I don't even know who Robbie Williams is. Is Take That played in the US? But the fact that Susan Boyle sold more than Michael points to the miserable taste of many people. I mean, she just sings covers.....Whatever. I just get so angry at Sony and the Estate for how they put together a controversial album, and of course dropped the ball on promotion. Those pictures of the promotion in China are amazing. I saw nothing like that here in the US. Makes me angry....:(

welcome back deano :D

I agree with your post. Taylor Swift may be huge in the States, Take that - in the UK, but Michael is the only artist that is known and loved everywhere in the world. And this album is another proof of that!

I don't understand this debate about Take That. Always there have been local acts in different countries who have outsold Michael first week. Now it just happened to be Christmas and there were those acts selling. (Take That, Susan Boyle, Taylor Swift..) But none of them are so global Michael is. I believe Boyle is more like a shooting star because of the hype around her but Michael sells now and in the long run much more globally than anyone for a long time will. It is not easy to build a legacy Michael build for decades.

From Youtube

i am so happ. I just check the billboard chart in the biggest online shop inTaiwan. Michael returned to #1 of the 100 albums. It surpassed all the singers and became #1 again after? two week's droppin..

I suggest all the negative people wake/cheer-up and realise Michael's album is No 1 GLOBALLY!

How can one improve on that would the naysayers suggest?

Yay Michael sweetie ... you where you belong ...

At the TOP of the WORLD ... like the KING should be

SHAMONE BABY!!!

take tht are doing so well cauze one of there members returned after 15 yrs, and he was a big solo artist in the uk anyway, if michael keeps selling steady till a more uptempo single comes, i think the album will continue to sell.

the promo for the next single needs to be good, and i do feel there will be reloaded version in a while with sum added tracks, hopfully sttr is on tht.

remmber its about the world sales over all. would u want him number 1 in uk and usa but selling crap everywhere else?

So can no one else be successful in your eyes?

Their album is fantastic and so much better than most of the "music" in the charts (& it does NOT sound all the same!). All their albums have a unique sound and this album is just a step in another direction. Their success is not all down to Robbie Williams, they were very successful without him. (If you ask anyone, they'd tell you Robbie needed them more than they needed Robbie.)

And as for the "Take That enjoy their UK fame now" quote.... laughable! You do know that they were around in the early 90s?

Please... other bands/artists are allowed to be successful you know.

And, just to add: Michael is selling very, very well. Just because he didn't reach No.1, doesn't immediately make this album a flop. Its sold more than any other MJ album since Dangerous in its first week! Thats absolutely brilliant news! Its just a shame it was released in Christmas week, there is a LOT of competition; any other week and it would have been guaranteed No.1. Fingers crossed the next release is an uptempo one that gets good airplay! ;)

Sorry for the rant... :p
