Post #216-Those stupid voices and sounds are layered over the top of the song and are NOT part of the song itself. Thats done by BMF whoever has leaked the clip. Same goes for the Mc'ing too.
The song is from Vince sessions.
Lenny recorded it as "storm" on his album in 2004
"storm"was released as a single in 2004/5 in Europe.
The single had a REMIX by Jay-Z to accompany it.
Lenny resung some of the vocals for the REMIX in a different meoldy.
The REMIX changed the whole direction of the song.
A video was made for the REMIX too and was essentialy the main release, overshadowing the album version. Radio stations used to play the REMIX rather than the album version.
Post #232-Guys its NOT a remix FFS.
Its just a CLIP with DJ's messing over the top over to put THEIR WATERMARK ON IT so when it spreads like sh!t on the net (WHICH IT IS), people will KNOW where its come from and who had the exclusivity of it FIRST.
Well I really love this track, it's made my day. However it's Michael's voice that makes it magical. The way he sings the verse gives me the chills -- there is so much emotion in his voice. It's haunting.
When I listened to the Lenny Kravitz version "Storm" I felt unmoved and unimpressed. The song was nothing special.
It's Michael that makes it special. I can't wait to hear the whole track.
Interesting, and yet in another interview Michael says he thinks Invincible is better than Thriller. But yeah I guess Michael didn't think "Another Day" was acceptable at the time. But then I guess he felt the same about "Fall Again", "Way You Love Me" and "Beautiful Girl" -- all songs that were recorded for Invincible, but not released until a few years later. I simply love those songs. I guess I don't always agree with Michael. It's the same with "For All Time", I am still baffled as to how that didn't get released onto Thriller, it's such a beautiful track.
Anyway, he did an interview with USA Today, dated 1st November 2001, written by Edna Gunderson. I have a copy of this, but no link. Anyway one of the questions is
Q: Invincible hasn't enjoyed record-breaking sales. Does Thriller cast too big a
shadow?
A: Absolutely. It is tough because you're competing against yourself. Invincible is just
as good or better than Thriller, in my true, humble opinion. It has more to offer. Music
is what lives and lasts. Invincible has been a great success. When The Nutcracker
Suite was first introduced to the world, it totally bombed. What's important is how the
story ends.
My personal understanding of "acceptable" is what is deemed good enough or up to Michael's very high standards to be on his album. We know he used to write about 100 songs for each album and out of that had to decide what he thought was good enough.

Totally agree with this post! Everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, I think the reason some fans get dumbfounded as to why certain songs didn't make it on albums is becuz they assume songs left off were automatically "unacceptable" in quality...and that just isn't the case "always". Quincy and Michael both have spoken about tracks not making it onto albums solely becuz of other issues that have ZERO to do with quality. Sometimes it's a matter of space on an album, theme/feel of the album as a whole, or duplication (meaning certain songs are in the same vein) which gets a song axed.
We know Carousel got bumped becuz Human Nature filled that particular niche they wanted to fill on Thriller. We know Streetwalker was rejected for Another Part of Me on BAD solely becuz there was a spot for only one of the two as far as "groove". That didn't mean Streetwalker was "unacceptable" as far as quality. So again, I really hope some fans would stop automatically assuming that songs rejected from albums were rejected due to poor quality. I've seen ppl make this mistake time and time again. It just isn't so...unless Michael himself said a particular song was bumped becuz it stunk in his opinion. I think it's a disservice to his talent and craft to automatically assume songs he left unreleased or unfinished were becuz he disliked them and/or felt they were poor in quality. Look at Little Susie which was done in OTW era and eventually put on HIStory album. Even some of his demos weren't rejected becuz he hated them or found them "unacceptable". He, himself, has stated that sometimes he gets to working on one song and then another one will come along and excite him to the point where he begins to put all his focus on that one, abandoning the one before it. So PLEASE, can fans stop assuming unreleased and unfinished songs were left that way becuz of quality. It may have simply been "unacceptable" for other reasons that have nothing to do with the quality of the song. Now, having said that, EVEN if Michael said he hated something, I, too, tend to rely on my OWN ears as far as what I like or can appreciate.
SO...as far as this song...
I.Absolutely.Love.It!! Hotdamn that's a hard arse song, IMHO! The 1:28 of it that I've just heard (about 4 time now) ROCKS and JAMZ! AHHH!!! :wild: WHERE oh WHERE is the rest of this thing?! I need! I Want! Like NOW! lol Don't care when it was recorded or if it was re-recorded or what. He sounds fracking AMA-zing and that chorus....Lawd!
IMHO this kicks ALL of the ass of Lenny's version, no offense to Lenny....and I LOOOVE me some Lenny K. His version is like a limp noodle compared to the fire in Michael's. TOTALLY feeling the STORM when Michael sings this. Just...YUM! YUM! YUMMMY! :hungry: Makes me miss him all-the-more, of course. So bittersweet.
Thanks to the OP for posting. unk: *goes to listen again*

ETA: Forgot to say it sounds like something that would fit in with today's music as well. I can totally imagine hearing this on the radio now. Doesn't sound dated at all....IMO!

I can't believe that some people said they didn't like it ? maybe they had downloaded something else!
The vocals are so damn amazing so charming !! the heeheee !!

I remember a lot of prissy MJ fans dismissing "Butterflies" because it was not written by MJ.
And "Butterflies" is one of Michael's vocal masterpieces, IMHO. Especially that second verse when he goes falsetto - OMG..... I DIE each time I hear it.
Same with "Another Day" - it gave me "Butterflies" - and I'm swooning over it!!

i got goosebumps!! (((...when MJ said the best is yet to come he meant 4 real!
Butterflies is one of my favorites = amazing song. Just because he doesn't write some songs it doesn't mean it's not his. He produces and arranges all his songs so they become his signature songs.. His trademark vocals and arrangements are all over those songs- their his!!
totally agree with you...michael makes each one of his songs masterpieces, regardless if written by him or not...definitely butterflies is one of his best vocals ever, i go to heaven and never want to come back when i hear his voice in that one...and in this new one, it's that beautiful echo quality to it that i really love, he sounds like an angel and then kicks even more ass with the rest of the vocals....amazing...

I cant believe it's possible for me to love a voice this much.

Well...not in this way, he actually meant for this song not to be on Invincible, and only after his passing...a snippet leaked. Otherwise we wouldn't have known or heard about it
I don't know if there's a special word for it...but the first lines, Michael sings in his 'friendly 'tone, but after that the angry/shouting tone starts, that's what i love about his music. He just never sings the whole song the same way, always variety.
