Well you say this. Then in a later post you talk about Michael saying songs on Invincible were acceptable and thus deeming this one unacceptable.

What about songs like Heartbreaker, or Invincible? They are anything but Soulful and are really synthetic. 2000 Watts?

These were all songs that were apparently deemed 'acceptable' by Michael. But would be much more fitting to be called souless and synthetic IMO.

This is from the Invincible sessions. "Another Day" was talked about before the album came out.

I'm going by my own ears. It's atrocious. Just a lot of syncopated noise.

I hated the vast majority of Invincible. Michael deeming songs 'acceptable' is no vote of confidence. He doesn't talk of Heartbreaker in the same reverential tones as he does Billie Jean. There's good reason why! Billie Jean 'comes from a higher source'. Heartbreaker (and tracks on Invincible are 'acceptable'.

Michael Jackson wrote and recorded some of the greatest songs of the pop era. This Lenny Kravitz collaboration is not one of them.

ps. 2000 Watts is a song I particularly dislike.

I really hate it! :(...Sorry, just my opinion.

Sounds nothing like an "MJ Track"...As someone else stated, it's souless and synthetic...I agree 100%.

Anything you get is a bonus...It seems like you've forgotten that MJ has passed away... love this song....MJ shouting is amazing..wow..that voice!!!

You guys have to admit though... Michael's voice sounds fantastic!!!!

His voice gives me chills even to this day.... The vocals on the chorus is very reminiscence of the buildup in Earth Song.

Actually I think the people disagreeing are taking it too seriously, let someone say they don't like a song if they don't like it, what's wrong with that? I'm a fan of other artists who have released songs I'm not fond of. They are allowed to say they dislike the song. It's not their fault a lot of people disagreed with an opinion.

Jeez...I don't understand you ppl! Why everytime must be someone here who ruins things? Everytime must be something "wrong" for someone, I swear I am so tired of it! Are we never be able to love something he does without all this? I never said it before but this time is just too much... Everytime must be a problem! Please just leave us enjoy it without all the rude comments about everything he did!
Please, don't understand me wrong, but it's hard enough for us!! We hear him after so many years but it's not enough! Well, things will be like this from now, Mike is not here anymore so try to enjoy his music like it is!!!

My God this song is... Unreal. It LITERALLY made me open my mouth and not move while listening to the snippet. Can't wait for the whole song. I feel so excited. Not 100 % excited of course, we know why but still... Amazing. Breathtaking.

Well I really love this track, it's made my day. However it's Michael's voice that makes it magical. The way he sings the verse gives me the chills -- there is so much emotion in his voice. It's haunting.

When I listened to the Lenny Kravitz version "Storm" I felt unmoved and unimpressed. The song was nothing special.

It's Michael that makes it special. I can't wait to hear the whole track.

Interesting, and yet in another interview Michael says he thinks Invincible is better than Thriller. But yeah I guess Michael didn't think "Another Day" was acceptable at the time. But then I guess he felt the same about "Fall Again", "Way You Love Me" and "Beautiful Girl" -- all songs that were recorded for Invincible, but not released until a few years later. I simply love those songs. I guess I don't always agree with Michael. It's the same with "For All Time", I am still baffled as to how that didn't get released onto Thriller, it's such a beautiful track.

Anyway, he did an interview with USA Today, dated 1st November 2001, written by Edna Gunderson. I have a copy of this, but no link. Anyway one of the questions is

Q: Invincible hasn't enjoyed record-breaking sales. Does Thriller cast too big a
shadow?

A: Absolutely. It is tough because you're competing against yourself. Invincible is just
as good or better than Thriller, in my true, humble opinion. It has more to offer. Music
is what lives and lasts. Invincible has been a great success. When The Nutcracker
Suite was first introduced to the world, it totally bombed. What's important is how the
story ends.

My personal understanding of "acceptable" is what is deemed good enough or up to Michael's very high standards to be on his album. We know he used to write about 100 songs for each album and out of that had to decide what he thought was good enough.

I love it! Michael's voice sounds amazing!! I have it on repeat right now. It makes me sad, because I can't help remembering times on these boards when other songs, like 'Hold My Hand" leaked, and Michael was still with us. But...I'm glad to have it. I wish I could hear the full version.

A poster before got it right with exactly how I feel about it. But I dont hate it. I just dont have that MAGICAL feeling with a usual MJ track. For example, Hold My Hand I did.
