Akon's record label has backed down on rumors that had suggested a new single ft Michael Jackson would be released in July.

and we need to keep in mind that the bolded part is the author's view - not uncertainties from Akon's label rep.

they'd be thicker than a plank to not 1. include it in the album and 2. release it as a single.

Yep- exactly. All the actual quote says is that Akon's album isn't completed, which we already knew. :)

You never know...Akon maybe not ready to release his album this summer. Im guessing he is very busy with touring and probably intended to push back the release date to the fall. I know he is about to start a Canadian tour and that will take up more time. If he is up here in Canada then we wont be down in Vegas with Mike...Unless we hear something soon from Akon himself or a record label then its only reasonable to assume that Akon's record is not ready yet and still needs more work. If this is the case, "Hold My Hand" may either get shelved due to the leak OR get delayed until September or later on this year providing it makes the album. Nobody really knows what will happen we can just wait for a statement. I find it weird how neither MJ or Akon have responded to this leak but if the MTV article is deemed to be true and AKon's label truly said that...then we cant be guarenteed that "Hold My Hand" will be a single.

He said that this is the way MJ sounds in 2008 and that he still rocks and that we can look forward for more interesting new material to come

That stream was worse than the 128kbps version that's widely available.
