My take on this.
I remember watching years ago the interview with Michael and Lisa Marie, and Michael had the HIStory trailer put out. The interviewer Diane said why did you make this Michael was it to do with Stalin? or Dictators? etc no he said its all about making you look , making you know im back ! CONTROVERSARY! How would Sony make such an impact and get the whole world interested in a brand new album without the actual ARTIST to promote it?? THE SAME AS MICHAEL CONTROVERSARY! What better way than get all the family, the producer the fans all up in arms over his actual vocals on a teaser that would once again SHOCK THE WORLD!! To say HEY! IM BACK!!
I remember thats what Sony kept saying to Smooth, maybe this is what they where talking about??
IM hoping its just all a publicity stunt, and the actual album is mega!
I read an article from the mirror on Saturday and it was from 3AM girls that categorically said that they had a sneak preview of the new album and that it would smash all opposition for xmas , that the songs where highly persoonal and that 5 songs would of been sung at his THIS IS IT concerts.
Npw bear in mind these critics DO NOT LIKE MJ at all, and they have not been the kindest, BUT they had that much enthusiasm for this project and single releases.
I hope to god im correct, i also hope that the teaser was just that! Bear also in mind previous *MJ teasers* dont usually have his vocals but are VISUAL! well this time it cannot be. So Aural is the only way.
If this is not the case then i know this and other releases of MJ material WILL not happen because simply Fans will not buy anything, we are not idiots and we miss and love our idol still.
I just think this has been far to well planned and we have been played, i mean look the teaser has even been took off site now and it was to be on for a week. I just think that they thought that it would not be took so seriously and the onslaught from fans would be a lot less.
One thing that i feel does give it away is in the SONY/EPIC records statement it says the vocals on the new album ARE GENUINE Michael Jackson , it does not say that breaking news is, or that, that is included on album.

I dont know only just heard it coming back from work (left for work b4 it was released) I am in 2 minds i think his vocal is interwovan with others that are imitating his sound but as backing vocalists. I will have to listen again through headphones but that is my take!

Is there anyway that we can get in contact with Sony and tell them that including Breaking News on the new album is will be a massive mistake?
Personally i'd rather have yet another re-re-re-re-release of Thriller instead of having Breaking News on the new album

I'm sorry if I offend anyone, but why does it seem like since this song started to stream I've heard almost nothing but bad things about it? I think it's Michael on the track, and I thought a lot more people would think so too. It's a fantastic song, and it sounds a lot like Michael.

I'm so confused now. I totally don't expect this at all. The build-up from last week was great. The Cirque announcement then album release confirmation. But, why Sony decided to kill the excitment by releasing "Breaking News"? Why? I want to know whose decision was that? Did the Estate has a say at all?
Whether the vocal is Michael's or not. The song is just not good enough to build excitment. Isn't it supposed to be the song that gets people attention and generate people's interest to buy the album?
How is it a good marketing campaign? Why does Sony want to kick off with so much negativity and controversy? I'm a positive person. But, I truly can't be positive and optimistic after hearing Breaking News. Breaking News simply doesn't live up to Michael Jackson's standard. It's easily the worst Michael Jackson song ever (Actually, it is not fair to Michael to associate his name to this song.) What was Teddy Riley thinking when he said fans would enjoy it? I'm not even talking about the authenticity of the vocal. The song is just mediocre at best. It starts off strong, but loses its energy quickly. It doesn't mean to be released. Period.
I'm really confused. So many people gave rave review of the album. Jackie said it's incredible. Many people at Sony said the songs exceed their expectations... I don't know. May be Breaking News will not be on the album at all? It doesn't make sense for Sony to pay $250 million to release songs in such mediocre quality.

Sony and The Estate need to get together ASAP and figure this mess out. There's no doubt something is very very wrong with Breaking News. They need to pull it off the album and pick something else. I'd even be all for putting a track from Bad or even further back if it ment getting Breaking News off of it.
Hell they could properly put Shout on the album like it should have been in 2001, and even that would be better than this song. As much as I like the song, I hate to say it, it's not Michael Jackson

The stupid thing is If it was Michael, we wouldn't be sat here debating/complaining about the song's validity. It's clear to see that Michael Jackson fans cannot easily be fooled! Rather than "stanning" for an artist (like people do today), we WORSHIP the man! There's no hiding from Michael Jackson fans.

I'm not going to lie. This is a huge disappointment. I don't know what kind of marketing strategy and PR campaign Sony and the Estate have in mind. But, they don't seem to work at this moment.
I'll wait and see. I hope the truth will unveil in a few days.
Gosh... why can't they just put genuine Michael Jackson songs in the album? All I want is just Michael's voice. I don't care if they are from the 80's or 90's. If this is what they mean by "modernizing" the songs to give a better flow, then this album is not something I hope for in the past 8 months.

I think if parts of it are him, or if all of it is him, it's been messed with so much you can't tell, so what is the point of putting this on an album? Or releasing it at all.
I personally don't care whether it is him or not, it doesn't sound like him, and it doesn't sound like his work. It is either parts pieced together from a bunch of different things Michael worked on or it is not him, imo.
