Michael - The Great Album Debate

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Pentum, you're back!!! I was meaning to ask you, is the "Original Version" of "Breaking News" that you posted on Twitter the John McClain version, an earlier, non-Teddy version, or the one that was originally streamed? I'm pretty curious.
Nah, that was just a joke! Wanna hear it? http://soundcloud.com/pentum/bn-original-recording
Yeah, I know....Bumper's been gone for the last few days, and Sam's been blocked from this thread...
I heard about Sam, blocked forever? And Bumper must return. Seriously.
Omg... Omg... Pentum welcome back. I'm SCREAMING now... Yay....

This place is not the same without you.

BTW, I can't see the Estate's response.
Thanks! Does this work?

I don't know about forever....I really don't know what's going on with that....And, Bumper will be back....;)

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

... OK, that was pretty funny Pentum! I have to congratulate you on that!!

:lmao: on the BN clip... sounds like someone just got laid to me... :fear:

As for the Online team's response. Oh well... what's new? Typical useless statement.

Haha, you should've seen another one a friend of mine made, sounded like Jason Malachi had a quick one in the shower! :D Ended with an "aaaaah...".

As for the Online team's response, it is an useless statement, but it's better than nothing knowing that they are watching everything (we already knew that though). It should've included "There will be no more Cascio tracks released in the future".

Edit: Where is the "thanks" button!!

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

I have only seen the thanks button in the 2000 Watts sub-forum.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

That BN clip had me laughing. :D Great to see you back, Pentum!

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

I miss all the off-topic discussion about our fandom and how MJ factors into our daily lives... :(

BTW, I found the REAL singer of the Cascio tracks:

That artificial/robotic vibrato suddenly makes so much sense...

I propose that we start up the "Anti-Mecha Jackson Campaign", a movement to preserve MJ's natural voice and not have it end up all robotic like the album version of "Hollywood Tonight" and the Cascio tracks.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Wow, Jesta, where did you find that? If that's true I am totally shocked and disgusted.

That looks like Transformers, what an outrage to Michael Jacksons legsy.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

You should. Truly Mecha Jackson is the scourge of the Michael Jackson fan community. Forget the Jason dude, this guy is the worst thing!!!

But in all seriousness, that character represents all the mechanical work that has been done to make MJ's songs "presentable". Aside from artistic value, i.e. "Why You Wanna Trip on Me", this kind of equipment shouldn't be used. If it isn't releasable, Don't release it!!!

I think vast majority of the fans prefer the Throwback mix than the album version of "Hollywood Tonight"...

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

I know I do. I only listen to that version and sometimes the DJ Chuckie Remix.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

OT: I have a day off today, so I was watching some day-time TV at home. Barbara Walters mentioned Elton John's son's name is Zackery Jackson on the View. Does any one of you know whether his name have anything to do with Michael?

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

He could've been named after him, considering that Michael and Elton at least had known each other. I don't know if they were good friends, though.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

I don't know, I'm so sorry... :'( Sounds possible. Maybe he thinks Jackson is a successful name :D

Barbara also mentioned Madonna and Lady Gaga's are Zachery's god-mothers. But, she didn't go further on the name Zachery Jackson.

Seems Elton didn't explain the name to the press.

Michael dedicated BOTDF album to Elton John. I also heared Elton John was show opener for the Jackson 5 concerts back in the 70's.

I don't know, I'm so sorry... :'( Sounds possible. Maybe he thinks Jackson is a successful name :D

True. There are many successful Jacksons.

Andrew Jackson
Jesse Jackson
Curtis Jackson (aka 50 cent)

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

and some are saying the vocals on the Cascio tracks are MJ at his finest... sorry, i just can't help.

Ok i'm gonna say something that will make me unpopular to some people here but i honestly think that some fans will love anything that has the name Michael Jackson on it. I mean you could give them a bag of dog s**t with the name Michael Jackson written on it and they'd still say ''Wow! This is Michael Jackson at his finest!''

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

If I put that dog shit in my CD player and it sounded identicle to Michael Jackson and it sounded like really good music then yes, that would be Michael Jackson at his finest.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

What do you think of the vibrato, though, KingMikeJ? Is that vibrato his best? To me it nearly ruins the songs sometimes.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

I don't know what the hell happened in editing for the vibrato to end up like that but I still think it sounds ok and I still think the Cascio tracks are Michael.

Yes it annoys me that these songs have been edited in this way but that has nothing to do with you believing Malachi sings these songs and me believing Michael sings these songs.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

You are getting defensive.

Of course everyone is entitled to his/her opinon. All opinons are subjective. However, one's opinon will not be taken seriously if there is zero dose of objectivity.

For instance, I can say "The sky is purple." or "My dog sounds better than MJ." Well, my opinon, but I'm sure no one will take my opinon seriously.

The phrase "Michael Jackson at his finest" is a very heavy term and should not be used lightly. Michael Jackson, the ultimate perfectionist and genius. His finest works should be considered masterpieces that achieve immortality.

I love almost all Michael Jackson songs; however, I wouldn't say most songs I like "MJ at his finest". For instance, I love Heartbreaker, but the song is not "MJ at his finest." If Heartbreaker is MJ at his finest, then what could I say about Billie Jean? Earth Song? Stranger in Moscow?

May be because I love Michael Jackson's past catalogue so much. I almost feel it is insulting to call his half complete demos as good as the works he put 200% of his soul into and forced his collaborators to put 200% of themselves into. He drove himself to perfection and he drove others to perfection.

Not saying the songs on Michael are bad, but none of them, I mean none of them can be called MJ at his finest. Of course it's my opinion.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

I agree I've sayed Michael at his finest without taking into consideration the hundreds of songs he has and his amazing vocal ability. So looking back at the tracklist for the Michael album, the only song which is MJ at his finest is Best Of Joy.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Seriously guys, we should start an "Anti-Mecha Jackson Campaign" to stop the sheer amount of processing on MJ's vocals from happening again. Even "Hollywood Tonight" was subjected to it, and the Throwback Mix is - generally speaking - more loved by the fans than the processed album version.

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Mecha Jackson! The king of robo pop!

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

You know your AVGN well, analogue. It was that review that first got me interested in MJ, actually. The press conference got me more interested, and the Nostalgia Critic's review of Moonwalker sealed the deal.

I agree we should start a campaign to voice our dislike of over processing on MJ's vocals and demand more transparency.

However, it's way much easier said than done. The problem is so many fans do not see the problems we see.

There seems to be a lot of apathy amongst fans concerning this entire situation....It's just really sad :(

But still we are quite a few. I think it's worth a try. Many people are just not aware of the situation, they are ignorant and need to be informed. There's nothing we could lose if we try, is there?
Great idea btw!

Re: Michael - The Great Album Debate (Only Go Here if You Want To Continue The Controversy)

Hasn't there been at least one campaign? I think the best ways would be to keep protesting and sending letters and complaints to Sony voicing your concerns.

I think it'd be also good to get other celebrity opinions or even an interview with Eddie or Teddy or someone who has made comments about the tracks. More comments the better!
