Where can i buy the book?
Yes there are a couple of errors that are being amended for the reprint. As for the above, are you claiming that all of that is completely untrue?I'm a bit shocked that fans helped write this book.
I have to say i only got it yesterday and flicked through it but i didn't really like the tone. If it is for fan then just give us facts and not tabliod like comments on the inside cover it says "FOR ALL HIS CONTROVERSIAL PERSONAL QUIRKS"
On Page 11 this picture is not the bad tour.
Thriller was not the most expensive film ever in fact scream cost more to make.
Other quates from it:
"While he remained an asset who music business bean counters could rely upon with a compilation every few years, his days as a contemporary are over"
"while he was never convicted of charges laid against him in a high profile 2005 trial, the experience combined with money problems to keep him closeted in LA with his family."
"his 50 year old body, weakened by prescription drugs, might have failed to answer his demands"
and i've only started it.
Samhabib. You say he hadn't brought a new album out in 14 years. What about the 2001 number one, 10 million selling album invincible.
Are you really a fan?
^^excuse me, what about Blood on the Dance floor?
It's easy to pick holes with something, so I'm not going to labour the point. Overall the book is a good effort and I'm pleased for you that it got to No.1 .

"his days as a contemporary are over"? I've been a Michael Jackson fan for over 25 years... but when you're working on a book that will be around forever you can't airbrush history. The cold hard facts are that Michael Jackson, up until his passing, had released 1 new album in 14 years. By no stretch of the imagination can he then be described as a 'contemporary' act. That's not to detract from him, it's just the provable truth of the matter.
The devil is in the detail. A quote like "his 50 year old body, weakened by prescription drugs, might have failed to answer his demands" has the operative word 'might' in there. His passing had to be talked about. Where others would have bet on 'addiction to drugs' we at least balanced it with 'might'. As in, it's possible.
Thriller was definitely the most expensive video made when it was released right? I'm sure the photo-credit for John Landis has 'of its time' as a qualifier.
There are a couple of things that could be changed though.....I don't like the use of 'weakened by prescription drugs' either because we don't actually have the proof at this moment in time that he was weakened by prescription drugs. There have been many contradictory statements about his last few months/years and so we really don't know whether he was abusing drugs or not. As a pro-MJ book it should at least give him the benefit of the doubt. It's not trying to airbrush history because the part of history where we see the autopsy results has not yet happened. In fact, the people who were involved in the production have said that he was doing very well in rehearsals. They are the people who witnessed what happened in rehearsals and while it is possible they are exaggerating his fitness levels, they ARE THE ONLY reliable source we have. I don't think anybody would mark you down for using their testimony as a source for your book. I just don't think there is enough evidence at this point to start being negative to MJ about his use of drugs. We can choose the sources used in books and I'd rather you use the band members, dancers, and producer as a source. If you feel like you have to validate what you say, then just say something along the lines of "According to Kenny Ortega, the producer for the This Is It concerts, Michael Jackson was in good spirits and flying through rehearsales with energy and enthusiasm." We all know the schedule of those concerts was not particularly demanding so I don't think he would have had a trouble with the shows.
As for the Thriller video being the most expensive, perhaps it needs to be specified that AT THE TIME IT WAS MADE it was the most expensive. You could then follow it later by saying that Scream later became the most expensive.
Overall, you all did a great job on the book!!
Okay i thought you said he hadn't released one since history but thats fair enough. I still don't like the tone of the book and i really find it hard to beleive it was wrote by a fan. The book seems to imply we should focus on his talents and ignore the rest as if there was something strange or bad going on. I am proud of michael not just for his talent but for his personality too, i love the fact that he let know what type of a person he was and i'm not afraid to discuss it because there is nothing to be afraid of.
Once again real fans won't like this book.
