Official Bad tour DVD/Blu-ray release?? I don't wanna get my hopes up... But if that's true..

:wild:

:woohoo:

eeyyyyyy. Let's stop it there, please :agree:

What's the use in going that way? This is not the same for all MJ fans. For some of us this is difficult to process. For some others is all about happiness and exciment. Some of us feel guilty, others feel sad, while others remain in disbelief. All of these are valuable emotions.

So... why if we just use the forum to express our own personal private and unique feelings openly, as a family? We should come here to support each other, not to judge each other.

I have lots of mixfeelings now. There are many things I, as a simple fan, certainly have no idea about. So I need to learn from you too, live this moment with my fellow MJ fans. But if we start judging each other's feelings... what else can we expect?

As usual, we need to be together in this. Yes, each with our own feelings about it, our own opinions, but respecting our fellow fans :better:

Please.

I am very happy about this news. SONY will du everything they can to make this HUGE !!

Ok, I have lots of mixfeelings, but this quote on CNN made me laugh:

"Michael has always been a treasured member of the Sony Music family," said Columbia Epic chairman Rob Stringer.

Move on
Hold it together, move on
Life's so short, move on
Only time will set you free

You put your fears behind you
Better get yourself where you wanna be
I think of all the days and nights i spent crying
And i move on

Sorry... No bad feelings to our friends asking us to move on. This is just my childish way to deal with this at the moment, while learning my way to really decide if (and how) to move on...

Color me skeptical. I don't trust Sony with regards to MJ.
MJ was a superb businessman and he would have done better than this deal.

I will be very angry if his kids don't see all that they are due from Sony.

edit: I am keeping my hopes up that this will go well for everyone.

I agree with you
am very angry
not trust Branca
not know about will be true
follow the catalog
follow the money

I totally agree.

A record breaking music contract, that will most likely never be broken.

They did a wonderful job, especially considering that this deal does not included EVERYTHING. Unlike those Live Nation deals, I don't like those at all.

I read that the estate retains ownership of ALL MJ's masters. I think it is important for MJ's 3 children.

And Sony does not hold the right to MJ's image.

Really great deal!

Both Madonna's & Jay-Z record dels with Live Nation including sharing profits from merchandising & tours.

Michael Jackson, who died last year, left behind dozens of unreleased songs

Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- Dozens of Michael Jackson songs never heard before by fans will be released in 10 new albums over the next seven years, starting in November, according to a source close to the transaction.
The albums are part of a deal with Jackson's estate that could bring in $250 million to the late pop star's trust, the source said Tuesday.
When Jackson died last summer, he left behind huge debts -- estimated at about $500 million -- but he also owned a valuable music catalogue and dozens of unreleased recordings.
Sony's Columbia Epic Records, Jackson's record label for three decades, will "create new projects for Michael Jackson featuring the never-before-released Jackson recordings," Sony said. "The first project featuring unreleased music is expected for release in November 2010."
The Sony contract was negotiated by John Branca and John McClain, the two men Jackson named in his will to run his estate.
"By all objective criteria, this agreement with Sony Music demonstrates the lasting power of Michael's music by exceeding all previous industry benchmarks," Branca said in a written statement released Tuesday.
Los Angeles County Judge Mitchell Beckloff, who is overseeing the probate of Jackson's estate, has approved the contract, according to the estate source, who asked not to be identified because he was not authorized to speak about details.
Fans can also look forward to re-releases of Jackson's solo albums. Epic already struck gold when it released the 25th-anniversary edition of "Thriller," which rose to the top of the sales charts in 2008.
"Nowhere did Michael set the bar higher than he did with 'Thriller,' which nearly three decades after its release by Epic remains by far the best-selling album in history worldwide with music that transcends generations," said McClain, a former music industry executive who now helps run the estate.
Sony released the album companion to the documentary "This Is It" last fall.
"Michael has always been a treasured member of the Sony Music family," said Columbia Epic chairman Rob Stringer. "We're dedicated to protecting this icon's legacy, and we're thrilled that we can continue to bring his music to the world for the foreseeable future."
Profits from Jackson's estate go into a trust that is shared by his mother and three children. Unchosen charities also will get 20 percent of the estate profits under Jackson's will.
Branca and McClain have not yet been given full powers as executors over the estate, since the judge is still overseeing the probate process.
Joe Jackson, the singer's father, is still trying to challenge Branca and McClain's appointment, but so far his legal efforts have been rejected by Beckloff.

CANT WAIT FOR NOVEMBER! :D

It's not just the money (or even where it will & won't go). It is the proclivity of Sony to basically "Tupac" the material MJ left behind.

I'm taking a wait & see approach to how Sony & the estate will package & handle the output. I'm hopeful yet skeptical.

Quoting for truth. This is a difficult situation and nobody's opinion is more important than someone elses. The disrespect shown in this thread is upsetting. Think about what you're posting, I see no reason for anyone to get as worked up as they have been here.

For those of you upset about this here is something to help you. GET OVER IT.

This for example, wtf? Really not needed is it?

when I heard Michael had sold half of the catalog to Sony in 1995.
he didnt sell it, he merged it and got paid 100 mill for the pleasure.

mjs issue was with mottola not the company as a whole how many times does that need to be said. my only issues is i hope branca and co keep an eye on sales and make sure all royalties are paid.seeing as sony supposedly still owe mj loads as many albums havnt been recertifyed in years.

i have such mixed emotions about this. i was thinking today what if this anouncement was made after the concerts had finished. mj finished the run in triumph and then a few weeks later we have an anouncement about a huge deal. the joy i would have felt the joy of going up to haters and saying f*** you the king is back. but all i can do is sit here feeling, well i dont know what to feel and i dont know how i should feel. so when i read though this thread seeing ppl moaning/arguing about whether its gonna be 5 g.Hits or 2 or 1 all i can do is sit here and shake my head and say to myself you really dont it get do you. in the scheme of things none of it matters

Idk what to say I'm happy for his heirs who are in there for long time. My blessings to them hopefully they'll never have to worry for a single dime , MJ's kids being financially secure and grand children/great grandkids for generations to come is all I want.

I can't say I am pleased with this deal, knowing how MJ felt about Sony. It may be a good financial deal for his estate, and we may well get new material... but it's with Sony.

And with MJ being so close to becoming a free agent makes this seem all the more criminal.

Then again, I am just a big MJ fan who does not understand all the in's and out's of the industry.

Come on!! Don't look in the past! It's the future that matters.. :D WE WILL GET NEW MJ MUSIC!!! AND, THE BAD TOUR< OMG!

Right now the deal sounds good to me. I rather see Michael's legacy continue living than leaving his creations and music to dust.

I just hope Sony will play their cards correctly and fairly and won't use the deal to come up with just another compilation albums with old songs we already have on several albums.

Mj was a free agent. He didn't have a record deal at the time of his death.
