I think Sony is the best company to buy the rights to this music. I know it's a controversial thing to say, but Sony (the company) is the biggest and probably the best in the music business when it comes to releasing material into the market. This will be marketed very well (not that MJ music needs marketing) but they know just how to get the pitch right. They know that MJ's music will sell millions upon millions and they will want to get this right, almost as much as the fans want it done right. They want the money, we want the music, it pretty much works hand in hand, they know the demand for music that was never released is through the roof at the moment, even more so than when fans wanted it for years and years. Not only will fans buy it now, but the general public have an interest, we also have new kids getting into and discovering MJ, so this will be huge for Sony.
Cannot wait for this, it's the best news we have had in a very long time.
what's interesting is, that the media always said that Universal music was the biggest and best. now, all of a sudden, after MJ's death, Sony is the biggest?
anyway, i think the gist of what makes some people feel so queasy about a lot of this is, the spirit that something MJ said, doesn't seem to be with Sony..and that is that MJ liked to blaze the trail, not follow it. if the last couple of albums that MJ released were totally new material, and there was no hint of Billie Jean on them, then, the queasy feeling people wouldn't be feeling so queasy.
fortunately, MJ's failsafe was that he never had writer's block. perhaps, in the end, he was able to settle, with that feeling. no props to sony for that. we're all fortunate, that MJ never had writer's block, so no deal or lack thereof, could mess up, MJ's legacy.
if sony made MJ feel like he didn't have to compromise, maybe he wouldn't want a new version of off the wall. maybe if MJ had writer's block, but sony respected his track record, enough to take whatever new song he would have written, without a need for t25, there'd be no queasyness among the queasy feeling people.
but the world knows, that we'll not be able to resist something never heard before, by MJ, even if it was written in 1980. sony knows that, too.
so...props to MJ's never having a dryspell.
i guess we can look at it as, he did write new material. he just wrote so much of it, that some of it is backlogged, as far as at least 1980. maybe he saw it that way, too..idk..
