Yep. And if you count the Disneyland experience, that means that TWICE within 8 months the universe brought us within feet of each other... without me having even tried. Oooo, I just thought... maybe MJ was stalking me! :hysterical: Oh darnit. I suppose not. :rolleyes2:
The limo experience was like this: I was 16 and didn't quite yet have my driver's license. Denver was 70 miles north of where we lived and my mom was taking special music lessons a couple of times per month through the university in Boulder, even
farther north. Since we were going to Denver for the MJ concert, she rearranged her lesson so we'd just spend the entire day up north. Once we got close to Denver we could pick up their radio stations (which was always cool... big city, you know lolol) and KS104 was going on and on about MJ
I guess they were kind of stalking him. Around noon a DJ said that MJ was just seen leaving his hotel, supposedly to do some sightseeing in the area, and they promised that later on they'd give more 'Michael reports' about where he'd been sighted. Oh God, just hearing I was in the
same city was like HEAVEN!
So I'm all giddy and giggly and soooo nervous (I'm gonna see MICHAEL in just hours!!!!! OMG!!!!! :wild
. We go from I-5 and onto the Boulder Turnpike, just driving along. I can't recall if
we came up on the limo or if it passed us initially. In any case, we ended up slightly behind a very fancy silver limo that was in the lane right next to us to our right (so my side, the passenger side). Back then it was cool just to see a
limo, let alone a really high class shiny silver one  My mom joked, "Maybe that's him!" And I was like, yeah right -_- Then she said, "Wow. EXEC 2." I was like,
huh? .... "EXEC 2, the license plate. It might really be him. I'm serious. It might be." Sure mom, sure. So at this point the song
Bad comes on the radio (
like a freakin' clue from the universe! :doh
and she starts to pace the limo. "See if you can see in!" I'm like, no way, that's so rude! So I'm singing along with Bad, kind of dancing in my seat and trying to catch sly looks through these incredibly dark windows in the car next to us ... like literally 4 feet away from me. My crazy mom just keeps pacing them, right along side  I'm trying to see in without looking like I'm gawking. At one point I thought I got a glimpse of someone's silhouette, but the windows were just too darn dark to tell. By this time Bad's getting over and my mom is
still pacing this poor silver limo :lmao: I'm like, ummm, mom... this is getting embarrassing... it's probably not him anyway. So she sped up and passed and life went on. We went to the university and I kept my headphones on, glued to the radio station and they never said another word about where MJ was.
Around 4:30pm we were heading back into Denver (my heart pounding... holy God... less than 4 hours until the concert!) The radio
finally says something! They say that MJ is just a block away from his hotel now, heading back to prepare for tonight's show! He's stuck in traffic on the overpass, fans are hanging out waiting for him.
OMG, Mom,.... drive fast!!!!! But there was just no way. We were just too far away and stuck in slow rush hour traffic. But then.... then....the DJ says these words: "He's been riding around this afternoon in a silver stretch limousine with the licence plate EXEC 2...." (cue the scream!!!!) :swoon: :wild: :swoon: O! M! G! Never heard my mom shriek like a little girl like that either, lolol. (Closet MJ fan, she is.)
Sooooo... that's it. That's my story. It WAS Michael. I spent like 3-4 minutes right next to him and didn't know it :hysterical: After my heart started beating again and we got farther into town we stopped by Denny's across he street from the arena to get dinner. I couldn't even eat because I was
shaking so bad  OMG. And then... the concert
If I could relive one day in my life, this is still it. March 24, 1988. A day that will live in glorious history.
(P.S. One interesting note is that David Nordahl spent those days in Denver with MJ. He had driven up from Sante Fe. I didn't know this until recently. Considering David's an artist, I would be surprised if he didn't know Boulder, CO to a degree... like a sister city to Sante Fe in some ways, very artsy and trendy. I wonder now if he wanted to show Michael something up that way and that's why they were on that road? Who knows. )
