She sells very well in the UK actually. Janet is also a Global Superstar because she is known all over the world and not just as Michael's sister.

Hell yeah she is!
Honestly, the fact that she doesn't sell as much as others doesn't mean she's a nobody for god's sakes. She was once one of the biggest stars out there and people haven't forgotten that, she just needs to put out a decent album.

Are you kidding me? All her albums sold more outside of the states up till Damita Jo. She's probably not doing well now but she IS a global superstar.

ABC's Robin Roberts to Interview Janet Jackson Nov. 18th

In an ABC news exclusive, Janet Jackson will grant Robin Roberts and ABC News cameras admission to her Malibu home for the first time ever. The introverted Jackson sister will, no doubt, speak about the death of her brother, as she and Michael were said to be very close.

Though Roberts has snagged the first sit down televised interview with Jackson since her brother's tragic death, it will not be the star's first public comments on the subject. At the 2009 BET Awards, Jackson called her brother an icon and thanked the public for their support.

She also gave an exclusive print interview to Harper's Bazaar, in which she revealed that she had learned of her brother's death while on the set of 'Why I Got Married Too.' In addition, Miss Jackson anchored the MTV Video Music Awards with a performance of 'Scream,' a heartfelt tribute to Michael.

Jackson's second compilation album, 'Number Ones,' set for release later this month, is a two-disc set consisting of 33 international number-one hits.

The ABC News Press Room
reports that the 'In the Spotlight with Robin Roberts: Janet Jackson' special will air on Nov. 18th at 10PM.

Janet Jackson Blames Dr. Conrad Murray for Michael's Death

In Exclusive Interview, Jackson Tells Robin Roberts Brother's Death 'Felt Like a Dream'

BY LYNN REDMOND, MURIEL PEARSON and LAUREN SHER

Nov. 16, 2009—

Speaking out five months after Michael Jackson's death, Janet Jackson placed blame on Dr. Conrad Murray, saying the doctor should no longer be allowed to practice medicine.
"He was the one that was administering," she told ABC's Robin Roberts. "I think he is responsible."

Michael Jackson's personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, remains the focus of a manslaughter investigation into the pop star's death. Murray has admitted to administering the anesthetic propofol, but has denied giving Michael anything that should have killed him.
Jackson, who has walled herself in silence, fiercely guarding her private thoughts about the death of her beloved brother, Michael, opened up to Roberts in an exclusive interview that will air, Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 10 p.m. ET.

"It's been a tough year," she said. "You have your days where it's just really -- it's hard to believe. And a day doesn't go by that I don't think about him."
Jackson recounted the details of the morning of June 25, before she learned that Michael had collapsed, and her world turned upside down.
"I was at my house in New York. You know, another day. Another morning. And I get a call ... [my assistant] said, 'Your brother's been taken to the hospital. It's on CNN right now,'" she told Roberts. "I called everyone's. There's a line busy or -- someone wasn't picking up. I spoke to mother. I spoke to Tito. I spoke to my nephew Austin. I spoke to my sister La Toya."

"I told them to call me when they got to the hospital. And I remember thinking nobody's calling me back, so I tried calling again, and that's how I found out that he was no longer ... I couldn't believe it," she said.
Jackson said the she and the entire family were in a state of disbelief.
"It just didn't ring true to me. It felt like a dream," she said. "It's still so difficult for me to believe. It's, you know, you have to accept what is. But it's hard. You have to move on with your life. You have to accept what is and I understand that."

For Jackson, Michael's memorial service at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, where the late King of Pop was surrounded by love ones, helped her come to terms with her brother's death.
"My brother's favorite song is 'Smile.' And I thought Jermaine sang it beautifully, beautifully. And that's his favorite song as well. ...There being some sort of a closure, I suppose, at that time," she said, getting emotional.
Growing Up Jackson

Janet, who has sold 100 million records and became a five-time Grammy award-winning artist, was the youngest of nine children in the brood. Growing up, she said that she was always closest to Michael.
"We were incredibly close," she said, "A lot of similarities, his love for children and me being a baby. &We would practically do everything together from morning to night every day. Everyday."

She recalled how the two would play after school, feeding the animals together at the family's Hayvenhurst compound in Encino, Calif.
"We'd feed all the animals, took care of the babies. All the animals -- giraffes, mouflon sheep, deer, they had fawned. All kinds of animals, all kinds of birds. And I remember I would come home from school with the hay like I'm going to a ranch," she said.

In later years, she famously wore the key to the animal cages in all her music videos -- a memento from her youth.
But Jackson does not look back on all of her childhood memories as fondly.
Living in the shadow of the Jackson 5, then the most famous family act in America, her father Joe Jackson took the reins when it came to her career.

Jackson, who once had dreams of going to college to study business law and pursuing an acting career, said her father changed her career path.
"My father said, 'I think you'll make more money singing than as an actress... And that was it," she said. "Obviously, he saw something. And it's sad that it takes away your childhood. If I had to do it all over again, would I go about it the same way? I would really have to think about that."

Joe Jackson, the patriarch and the driving force behind his children's success, has been accused by Michael and others of being an abusive stage father. When asked by Roberts if her father was "abusive" or "old school," she said: "You have to keep in mind that I'm the baby...I think it's old school. And that may extrapolate into -- a -- being a little abusive. Do you understand what I'm saying?"

In a July 2009 interview with Chris Connelly, Joe Jackson addressed accusations that his children sacrificed a normal childhood for life on the stage. Joe Jackson denied allegations of beating Michael, but admitted to spanking as a form of physical discipline. He said he did not regret any part of Michael's upbringing. "I was very young, very young. I can't remember the exact age, but very young, younger than ten, younger than nine. ...I remember when I had called him daddy, and he said, 'No, you call me Joseph, I'm Joseph to you.' Never said it again," she told Roberts. "...We called mother -- everybody called mother, mother. So I don't know, I don't know why. And I've never asked. I've never questioned it. It is what it is, and I just let it go. Joseph."

Jackson Childhood: No Birthdays, Cartoons

The Jackson children had a unique childhood. As devout Jehovah's witnesses, they did not celebrate birthdays or Christmas because of their beliefs.
"I would love to have experienced what it would be like to celebrate Christmas and birthdays. ...I had my first birthday party when I was 23 years old. And I'd never celebrated my birthday before then," she said. "You kind of feel like you missed something. But then again, you have to, to say to yourself, it's like a catch-22 -- well, how can you miss what you didn't have? You know? I -- we grew up pretty quickly."
Two days before her 43rd birthday was the last time Jackson saw Michael.
"We had a lot of fun, laughing. ...I was being silly, acting silly. And he was sitting in front of me and just cracking up, laughing at me," she said. "I was being loud. And he thought it was so funny. I was just being stupid, acting silly."

smh @ Joe Jackson.

Maybe he knew he was a poor excuse for a father, that is why he forbade the kids to call him "Dad" or "Daddy".

smh

I'm glad that she blames Murray instead of Michael. Joseph is a proven asshole, he too will eventually get what he deserves.

I just saw the other day of a video where Michael said he wanted to call Joseph daddy so badly but he told him no that he was Joseph. What is with this guy? How can you tell your own children not to call you dad? I am glad she blames Murray too. I have this whole time. He was the doctor, he should have known better and he knew the risks with medications etc. He was suppose to anyways. There isn't a day goes by too that I don't think about Michael.

Quick question. . I could have sworn Tyler Perry said that Janet had found out on set. He said they were filming an airport scene with a ton of people and when they found out that MJ had a heart attack or had gone into cardiac arrest, the atmosphere on set changed in an instant. I think he said that Janet had left the set to find out what was going on.

Well, not that it matters too much, but don't know why Tyler Perry would say that if Janet was at home when she found out.

Much love to Janet. Sometimes when I see her lately, I tear up because I know that she is so sad inside.

No, he said Janet was due to start filming soon, like she was to fly to Atlanta either that day or soon after that.

Its funny that it is ok for Janet to do an interview about Michael but it wasn't for the rest of the family. She is doing it to make money just like everyone else, sheis promoting the CD.

That is not a good comparison given that she is promoting something and not just talking about her brother. As it has been said here, they had always ask about Michael. She is not talking about him to promote herself. Janet has already made it by herself and does not need to hide behind his name.

The rest of that family is completely different. Toy not only talks about Michael, but she also sell his kids in interviews. Instead of just saying "they're doing fine" or "they're abject", she goes into long detail. I am sure in the same position you would not want you aunt telling your business to the tabloids.

Jermaine, have been using his brother's death to promote himself everywhere he goes. He has been making money off of tributes and other ventures.

Speaking of which, that is exactly where most of the family been talking to. They have been given interviews to the same people who made some of the most outrages rumors against Michael. By given them the time of day, the family is given legilimency to these claims.

So, they are nothing like Janet. She has not been running to every new organization that would talk to her. She has been grieving, which is more than I can say about others in that family.

Well everybody else is doing an interview. The point is some are just going off of what they heard, Janet didn't do that. She didn't start bringing up he was murdered, etc type of stuff she put the blame where it belonged on the doctor.

I'm just curious & its off topic but why was Janet's nickname "Dunk" ? lol I've often wondered that.

I dont think its fair to blame Janet AT ALL. Stop being so heartless. She loved her brother and of course if it was to promote her CD then the interview would be all about her.

Well honestly, if MJ wasn't dead, would anyone care? I don't knock Janet's hustle, but to say that the interview isn't a strong PR move to promote the album is BS. The interview is being billed as the first live interview of Janet post MJ. Janet really has not been relevant music entertainer in years, so this will give her good exposure because she is the famous sister of MJ. Many people are interested in seeing what his famous sibling has got to say especially since she has more credibility is some eyes than Latoya, Joe, and Jermaine. She will get an audience just from the MJ angle. I am sure her people knew when a good time to bring her out into the spotlight again whether it translate into sales remain to be seen.

I do agree with you. Janet's popularity has gone down quite a bit even before the whole superbowl fiasco.

She hasn't had a hit record since "All for you"..I like her and I am sure MJ wouldn't mind helping her recapture some of her past glory. She still doesn't have a record label, so the sale of this greatest hits CD is important going into negotiation with any record label.

I do not think the interview will help sale much...simply because greatest hits CDs don't sell nowadays. Look at Madonna's celebration CD, she got lots of press ...and her album still hasn't shifted 500K in over 2 months.
