oh man...really..Just that they claim they will say something tom now. Nothing else
Phewww. lol
@Thunder, no worries, you didnt miss anything.
did I miss something here guys has an announcement been made?
I am actually shocked at how ridiculous this is getting. So they've been plugging a press conference in London and now that hasn't even happened. We're a day before zero on the 'countdown' and we have no list of performers...
I wish I could laugh
but.... Michael
And there was me thinking the negotiations should happen BEFORE you announce a concert..
all of this just shows me an incompetence in organization of this tribute concert.
let me summarize
first we were given " Wow! we've just heard that a major, major artist with close ties to Michael REALLY wants to do it!". emphasis on the "just" part.
then they said "We will wait with the announcement until we can name the new headline act"
when complained they give us this explanation " We cannot announce until everybody who deals with and looks after all the acts has agreed everything. There are the artists, lawyers, managers, record companies, agents, more lawyers. So a simple wish by artist A to perform some of Michael's songs in the show becomes a massive negotiation with everyone over everything. This goes back and forth with changes, amendments, exclusions, riders and so on. It's like herding cats into a sack, multiplied by the number of artists. It's painstaking and sometimes frustrating, but we are perservering because we believe in this show, and we believe we will have fantastic, unique performances of Michael's music that will lift the spirits of everyone - even the naysayers on this site. So we're not being secretive, or un-candid, we just want to get all our ducks (cats) in a row (into sacks) before we announce."
Now they are saying " I know you want to know. I'm desperate to tell you. you will be the first to know, even before the press! But it will be tomorrow. Just a few more hours."
----
I'm calling it a huge BS and here's why. they are correct that a simple wish from an artist to perform would take a lot of time a lot of negotiation a lot of back and forth to finalize and make it certain. If they think they will do this in 24 hours and be able to tell it tomorrow I can only look to it and say it's BS.
When you have a TRIBUTE concert, do you really just have ONE HEADLINE ACT?
I mean, for instance, if The Estate of Michael Jackson was handling this tribute and they secured Jay-Z, Kanye West, Gaga, Beyonce, Madonna, Prince, The Black Eye Peas, Ri-Ri and Usher, I don't think they would be able to call any one of those acts the HEADLINE ACT. In my opinion, they would all get "similar" billing, if they got any billing at all.
(P.S., in my opinion the list above is the type of STAR POWER the Estate would be able to pull.)
