Re: The Singer PRINCE died????
As a huge fan of his music, you want the man to be immortal as his work, but that's life. As every single person in the fan community can attest to this, you form a connection and bond through headphones that's almost indescribable. What I respect most about Prince is his ability to maintain and protect his privacy through some major shifts in culture and technology through the years. When plans for his memoirs were announced, I couldn't help but smirk with both excitement and sarcasm at the notion. My initial thoughts were "he's been writing and releasing chapters of this book for almost 40 years now in music form", and "i'll just wait until it's in my hands". He's been very protective of his mystique and image almost to a fault for his entire career, so naturally, it threw a lot of fans for a loop at the possibility of Prince finally opening up. It hadn't really dawned on me just how open he had started to become publicly until shortly after Denise Matthews' (once known as "Vanity") passing. He actually communicated his grief during a show and even shared personal memories with fans. This is 100% pure speculation on my part, but I think he had a feeling that, in his own lyrics "Heaven Must Be Near". Almost a week ago, he invited fans out to Paisley Park for one of his many late night parties to thank them for their love and support and to show them that he was alright. He told some folks not to "waste any prayers" and to "wait a few days". He only sought out attention when it had to do with music. He stayed loyal to that stance to his very last days. He's now with old friends, his parents, and his son in heaven. Rest In Peace, Prince.
P.S. fellow fans of MJ & Prince alike, please try to stay away from the 24-hour news cycles if you can. It's the same rodeo, believe me. Various music channels have been playing his video clips non-stop. It hurts, but still a breath of fresh air. The music is what it's always been about. He has left us plenty to listen to. Enjoy the hunt! lol
