I'm 32 and have been an MJ fan since I was about 6, right after I saw the Thriller video that scared the crap outta me so much so that I had to sleep with a light on at night for months because I thought zombies were gonna come busting through the floor and get me like they did Ola Ray in the video. MJ made up for scaring me though with the E.T. album which I loved and played very frequently at that time, on my Fisher Price record player.

MJ disappeared for a while and came back with Bad. I was 10. It was then that it got hard to outwardly show love for MJ with my friends because of his changing appearance and skin color. I'm Black, and most of my friends at the time were Black so we all wondered why he was trying to get lighter... we didn't understand it. So I didn't talk about it. But I still played my Bad tape at home after school. :)

I bought every CD MJ came out with after that WHEN they came out. I guess you could say I was a fan In the Closet. America made it difficult for me to show him love outwardly. But even with his changing appearance and some of the things he would say I always had a soft spot for him because I just sensed this inner turmoil w/in him that I could totally relate to.

Plus his music kicked ass! Even the earlier stuff... I had to dig through my dads records to find it but once i did.. Oh yeah!!!

LOL! Yeah! I even remember where I was the first time I saw it. I was in my moms cousins living room. She put the tape on for me and she and my mom went into the kitchen. I spend the next 10 minutes like a statue watching Thriller with the widest eyes EVER. I couldn't even eat the plate of food in front of me I was so scared. I didn't sleep well for like a week after that. I needed a light, I was so afraid of the dark. I was MAD at MJ!!! :lol:

Hahaha! I could watch every part of that video except for the ending, LOL! When they close-up on Michael's face and show his scary-ass eyes, and the guy starts laughing in the background... OMFG, I covered my eyes EVERY single time, LOL! I remember telling my little brother who was only 2 at the time, that Michael had M&Ms in his eyes and that's why they were so big and yellow. :lol: I had NO IDEA what contacts were at the time, of course. :p

I am old (very) and I have been a fan since 1968 when the J5 came out. My first concert in 1972 was the J5 and I have been a fan ever since.

Im 19 and i am a big fan since 1992, so im fan for about 17 years , it all began when i was 2 years old, i saw the Dangerous Tour 92 in Bucharest, broadcast on Tv, i was hipnotised in front of tv, and for the first time in my life i started dancing with 2 years old, so my family found it cool and started recording me stuff from tv in VHS and buy me alot of stuff from michael! and Since there iv been folowing everything about michael!!

I think the vote will be skewered toward younger folk who are more computer savvy, have less responsibilty, and thus can spend more time on fan sites. But it's still amazing to see the multi-generational appeal of Michael.

I'm 22 and I have to admit I've never been the greatest fan like I would buy merchandise and plaster my room wall with posters. I'm this kind of fan who treasures the music most. His music is very special to me and always has been. Sorry if I don't make any sense.

I started to like Michael sometime in the very early 90s I think. I remember watching Moonwalker over and over again. My parents have Thriller on vinyl and it appears it was my favorite record when I was little, as the cover is totally ripped apart lol.

I´m 21 and I have been fan since I knew Michael for the first time back in 1995 when I was 7/8 years old.
A year later, he came to Zaragoza, Spain, and it was freakin´awesome, I noticed who MJ really was.

I fell in love with his voice and the way he moved his body to the music. The way he just gave himself completely over to the music and the way it made him feel.

I stayed a fan because I fell in love with his heart. I fell in love with how kind, caring, and loving he was to his family, friends, and fans. The way he treated children that were sick or dying. The way he took care of his fans that would stand out in the rain trying to see him, if only for a second. How he gave away so much of himself asking for nothing but love in return.
I can only hope to have someone love me half as much as he did.
Forgot the main question....lol.
I became a fan when I was about 9 or 10. I'm 25 now.

iam 49 now and remember going to discos and dancing to michaels early songs when i was 18 he would be around 20 even remember watching the jackson 5 on tv.
i always loved michaels music but lost touch with him until i heard of his passing.
never believed the crap about him the man was saint.

I am almost 42 years old, and have been a fan since the 1970's! I love MJ and the Jackson 5!!

I'm 19 and have been a fan for 5 years, since 2004, when that stupid trial was about to start. I saw him on tv for the first time, and became hooked. I beleive I'm one of his most loyal fans, since I discovered him in such a difficult time in his life.

I'm 19 now and kinda grew up with MJ's music. My parents got some of the albums and I'm addicted to music from my birth on...got a lot of homevideo's where I'm singing and dancing in my most wonderful clothes and giving a whole show. Hahaha!
So I'd say I'm a lover from my birth on.:yes:

I agree. Where are all the 12 and underers... ? I know there's a SHIT-TON of them on my other forums that are not Fan sites. :p

25 and I can honestly say I've been a fan for at least 21 years :lol: Since I first heard the Bad album thanks to my older sisters :) Became consumed with Michael with the Dangerous album and went and spent all my little saved up allowance on the rest of his previous albums :lol:

apparently im a fan since i heard BAD when i was 2 years old. as far back as i remember ive been a fan. 23 now so 21 years of being a fan and still going strong! my children will be the same!!!

I not sure exactly when I became a fan, so I'll say 20+ years. As early as I can remember, Michael's music surrounded me. I used to jump on the couch to "OTW" late at night until one of my parents dragged me off to bed, and I had a daily obsession of watching Thriller after day care.

I'm 24. I don't know the exact year where I could say "I love this man", probably some time between '88 and '90. I think either Moonwalker or Captain Eo was what made me fall in love with him. I was always more of a casual fan, but a big supporter of him no matter what.

I'm 23 and been a fan for 20 years. My very first foray into Michael Jackson Mania was with my cousin who was in her late teens/early 20s around the time of the BAD and then DANGEROUS cds. When I say that she was obsessed, it’s an understatement. It was so bad that as a child (around 4-6), I actually thought that she was dating him because his was the only male name that I heard from her, she had his face plastered all over her walls and dressers, his music was the only thing that she listened to and she called him her boyfriend. So of course young me really thought he was and I was so happy for her. BAD still remains my favorite cd of his, from the simple fact of it was the soundtrack of my young years and I saw the videos on total repeat (you know she had every video and his little movies like Moonwalker on vhs). My favorite song has always been BAD from that cd and that video along with him in SPEED DEMON and COME TOGETHER(I can only describe him as beautiful in that video. His smile was on a whole different level, and this was where the surgery was perfect and where he should have stopped. Face still moved naturally, everything was gorgeous) set me on my path to being infatuated with light skinned/long haired men all through my teen days years later. I hadn’t even made the connection until I thought about how many of my exes looked similar to that style. God, I still want to lick the screen whenever BAD or COME TOGETHER comes on; the clothes, the confidence/swagger, the dances….mmm, he could have SO got it back then.

At the moment, my favorite CD is Thriller, with PYT being my faveeeeee song. Just so adorable and happy...literally every song on that CD is a hit to me, with the exception of The Girl is Mine. Not that I don't LIKE it, just not a hit...I prefer the 2008 version

I'm still a fan because his music is timeless and he's still my epitome of GORGEOUS in the time period of my avatar. I've always loved him when he was in the Jackson 5, that has never changed and will always have a sweet spot in my life with songs like Who's loving you and I'll be there. I'm not really into his later stuff (Invincible, HIStory) because I just felt like soooo much got focused on his pain from the trial and stuff. I wish they had never happened because I feel that they robbed us of 15 years of unadulterated MJ creativity without a bias to it.
