Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys

But It's not your place to say those things

I'm just trying to use common sense. I find it very hard to believe a 11 and 13 year old, who was kept away from all TV and all the media is ready to go to some huge music ceremony. It's different if they are somewhere and not noticed, but to go on stage and sing? Honestly. Would Michael have wanted that? In the future, sure, but now? I don't think so =\

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys

I will respect whatever Katherine decides to do. I mean she is their guardian and their grandmother. Michael trusted her with them. I am kind of torn if they really want to do something for him how can you say no? At the same time they are kids and they should be protected. It's hard because he was the only parent they had and they loved him.

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys

its a discussion board ppl give their opinions.

I understand that, but people are speaking for Paris and Prince
we shouldnt do that.

it's not like they are going to be like "Lets live the life of the rich and famous" IF and I'm saying "IF" this happens it's out of love for their father.

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys

This could be all just rumors but maybe they want to say something. Not perform. It's hard because they are children and you want to see them protected but if they want to do something for their father who just died then I don't know how you can say no. It's a delicate situation. Prince and Paris are old enough to say how they feel.

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys

eminem and lil wayne are going to perform together, maybe eminem will show his own special tribute to MJ while lil W calls him a *** ,with M's kids sitting in front of them?
the grammys lost it a long time ago...it's just a bunch of rec companies buying their own artists awards, trying to survive low ratings using 3 kids,it's just so manipulative and sad.

sure the tribute is gonna be fine, have no problem with it,but the kids, given the circumstances, should be protected even from what they want, they are just kids who lost a dad, their only family,no need to prove anything to anyone.

Once again that's not for us to say, we are not Paris or Prince, we are not in their heads.

Maybe they do feel they have something to prove, I know they are aware of all the crap their dad went through, maybe they want people to put a lid on it. Or maybe they don't.

No one can speak for them.

I'm more worried about the Grammy's trying to use their tragedy to get ratings.

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys

that's the point...i'm not questioning the kids or the family intents or choices, but it's pretty clear whether P&P will be there or not,the grammys are manipulating their emotions to score ratings...and it's wrong and unfair.

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys

Lets just wait and see. They probably won't even be there anyway.

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys

We'll just have to wait and see. As fans we've always wanted to protect the kids which is why this has evoked such strong emotions but in the end of the day its up to them. Personally I feel that they're too young so I'm praying the media won't tear them to pieces if they do do something.

I guess I will have to third this

Paris, Prince and Blanket are in my prayers.

*bleep* the media for even mentioning their names.

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys

I just saw pics of Paris from yesterday.. paparazzi pics that were taken when they went to their karate class... they were posted on another board (Omer is back) .. the girl was shielding her face from the cameras. that is all I will say.-_-

Michael Jackson's children to take stage at

Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- Michael Jackson's two eldest children are scheduled to take the stage this weekend to accept the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award for their father, Jackson family sources said.

It would be the first public appearance for Prince Michael, 12, and Paris, 11, since their dramatic appearance at the memorial service 12 days after their father's death.

"The whole world is waiting to see these children blossom," said Brian Oxman, a lawyer for Joe Jackson.

Two sources close to the family said the youngest, 7-year-old Blanket, was not expected to appear, although they suggested that might change.

Contrary to some media reports, the sources said there was no plan for the children to sing or dance at the show.

The Recording Academy, which presents the Grammy Awards, will honor the late pop star with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Special Merit Awards ceremony Saturday evening in Los Angeles.

Video of the presentation is likely to be included in Sunday night's musical tribute to Jackson during the Grammy telecast, the sources said.

While Katherine Jackson, Michael's mother, is expected to attend, Joe Jackson, his father, decided not to go because of his anger over the behind-the-scenes talks that led to the agreement to have the children accept the award, family sources said.

The decision came just this week, after Katherine Jackson, the legal guardian of the children, complained to Grammy producers that no family members had been invited, the Jackson sources said.

Two sources in the family said that she was initially told by producers that the estate's special administrators would decide who would take part in the Jackson tribute.

"Can you believe this crap?" one source quoted Joe Jackson as saying when he heard that.

The Grammy producers have not responded to a CNN request for comment.

A spokesman for the estate administrators said the matter was for Grammy producers to decide.

"Why is a stranger making family decisions?" asked Oxman, the lawyer who is representing Michael Jackson's father in a legal battle with the administrators.

Oxman said those administrators have disconnected the Jackson family from any decisions involving Michael Jackson's legacy.

Oxman was in a Los Angeles court Thursday where a judge set May 26 as the date he will hear testimony in Joe Jackson's request for a monthly allowance from his son's estate. Joe Jackson, 80, said he depended on his son's financial support for years before his death.

The administrators, lawyer John Branca and former music executive John McClain, contend he has not shown how he was "actually dependent" on Michael Jackson.

The estate lawyers said the expenses Joe Jackson wants covered by the estate -- including vacations, air travel, assistants and legal fees -- are not reasonable. They also noted that while Jackson's mother and three children were named as beneficiaries in his will written in July 2002, Joe Jackson was not.

Joe Jackson is challenging the validity of that will, which names Branca and McClain as executors, but so far the court has refused to hear his arguments.

The judge overseeing probate of the will already awarded $60,000 in monthly support for the three children and $26,000 a month for Katherine Jackson, starting from June 25, 2009, the day Michael Jackson died.

CNN has learned that Katherine Jackson has not received any of the money ordered for her because of a judgment in a lawsuit nearly two decades ago.

A South Korean newspaper, the Segye Times, sued Michael Jackson in 1990, claiming he failed to perform at a series of concerts they had already paid him for. The lawsuit also named Katherine Jackson, Joe Jackson and another one of their sons, Jermaine Jackson.

Michael Jackson's lawyers reached an out-of-court settlement with the newspaper, but his parents and brother did not. When they failed to fight it in court, a California judge issued a $4 million summary judgment against them, which has now grown with interest to about $8 million, according to court papers.

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys

:sigh: Makes me sad. In a way it'll be like the memorial again for them. Listening to people talk about their dad and then to watch the performance. Oh, well, let the pimping begin. At least the tabs and mags will rake in big bucks with the pics, so it'll be good for somebody. I still hope it doesn't happen.

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys

If Oxman says so it's gotta be right.

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys

I don't think it is a bad thing at all if they are accepting his Lifetime Achievement Award. I think they are the ones that should. And I am sure they wouldn't be doing it if they weren't comfortable

They might do it even if they are uncomfortable if they think they should do it for their daddy. Depends on how it was put to them. Not saying that is so, just saying it's possible. They are children, and children do wish to please. But what will be, will be.

Regardless, if it happens it will be a pimpfest for the media and a mega bonus for the Grammys, which is pretty much the point of it all, at least from their viewpoint. Still hoping against hope it does not happen. Too soon.

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys

I dont think it is so terrible that they are receiving an award for him. I think it is sweet, I will probably be crying at home watching it happen :( But good for them wanting to do this. They loved their father very much. And they will probably be doing more things like this in the future when they get older. If anyone deserves to do this it is his children.

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys

I agree Kellye. I don't think it is too soon. I think it is something that will mean alot to them :) If it is even true, we will see. I don't think we will know for sure until Sunday.

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys

If anybody should recieve an award in the name of Michael, it's his kids, but do they have to? Do they want to? What would be the real purpose of having them in front of the cameras if not just for morbid curiosity...

LOL.. and some people ''hoax fan'' say that it is Michael himself who's gonna be at the Grammys... yeah right...

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys

According to some brainiacs Michael is going to show up ''with his real family'' LOL!

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys

IT'S Great! i bet it's Paris who want to honor her father. she is very brave and wants to do it for Michael just like in Michael's memorial. Blanket is so young. it's a way of healing the loss.

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys

if Michael was getting it himself, would he allow his children to be on stage, for example to present it to him?

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys

edit- Apparently they are only just going to accept the award.

I wonder when those fans will get tired of expecting this "big reveal" and have the moments continually pass without one. It was supposed to happen at the memorial, then the funeral, then for the TII movie release, then for Christmas. It's like, how many more years of this are they going to put themselves thru. sigh.

Anyway, I did think (for a nanosecond) that it might be nice to see Prince accept the award. I know...what am I thinking?! :bugeyed He's almost 13 and altho that doesn't seem like a big age, Paris showed much eloquence at 11. Would be nice to hear from Prince IF that's what he wants to do. Not too keen about the "performing/singing" rumors tho. This can come across as exploitation of the kids if not done right and let's face it...the horse was let out of the barn at the memorial when all the kids appeared without veils. I definitely believe they should be left alone in their everyday lives to heal and just be kids...but for "special times" like this it might be okay? It's not an interview like the Barbara Walters thing was rumored to be. Guess I'm conflicted about this in some ways. They are growing up and at some point we, just as Michael would have if he were alive, will have to gradually allow the apron strings to slip away.

Gotta say reading the update was kinda weird cuz just this morning I dreamed about the Encino house (tho I've never been there) and there was a magazine stand in a "family room" with different magazines on it...like a REAL magazine stand. Some of them had MJ on the cover. Janet was there and I asked her if they keep the MJ ones after they restock the shelves? She said "yes" and showed me another magazine stand where they were saving all the MJ ones for anyone who came over and wanted to see them. Blanket was running around with some other small kids but I didn't see Prince and Paris so I asked where they were. She said they were visiting some sick kids and taking gifts like their father used to do...that they were continuing his work, but Blanket wasn't quite ready yet...but the family felt he might be ready next year to go along with his brother and sister. Crazy, right?! I thought maybe becuz this talk about the kids going to the Grammys was on my brain and that processed itself into a dream....and that may still be the case as you can never really trust these reports. But I just about choked on my juice reading that news article. Eek!

In any case, I hope whether the kids appear or not that it's their decision and not becuz someone is pushing them. Whether they are ready for this or not, I guess we can't really tell. Who woulda thunk Paris would have been so brave to speak at the memorial? And she did a great, tho heartbreaking, job. Michael had to have been proud. Wish none of this was even an issue. :( HOW THE HELL did we get here again?!

******* ****** *******!!!

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys

i agree with u Wendy. Kids just want to do something for their daddy. nobody can push them if they don't want.

o.e that quote from Oxman makes me uncomfortable for some reason. I don't know. I don't like that people will probably picking them apart and stuff you know?

I'm just very protective over Mike's kids.

And just, the media, they were always so cruel to Michael I don't want them to continue on with Michael's kids, even though they kind of already have.

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys

I just read that the actual ceremony for this award is the night before the awards. Said that the video of them accepting the award will be shown on the grammys but from what i understand they will not be live on stage at the grammys.
