Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys - Update pg 13 (All discussion here)

It's too early for the kids. Yes even for Prince and Paris. There's many more years to come and they will be for all their life present their Dads legacy and have countless more occasions to present their pride.

But the industry knows ppl are MJs children hungry and that means money... incredible money... and it's not ok to wrench that out of children... it will most likely harm them... even when they might want it themselves... they are too young.

Michael could tell... Liz Taylor can probably also... Mary-Kate Olson can... Mac can... Crown princess Victoria of Sweden can... even Britney can....... when the public wants you out there and wants you to see take a certain way of life... mercyless... the likelihood it does harm a young soul is not low in number! The public and yes also we as fans are partly mercyless... I mean come on read this board lately.

These shows are no place for children sorry... as much as everyone around would love to see them there... can't you see what that will risk for them? It's not worth it.

There will be countless possibilities for them in later years if that is what they really still want then. They will be always perceived as the children of their Dad and I personally pray they will find a life on their own even though and not run around like Lisa-Marie who's more Elvis daughter than anyone else?

Gosh as much as I do love to see them also... I want them to have a childhood and I want them to have the possibility to find out who they want to be before the public and any kind of industry will be able to pressure them a certain way... again mercyless.

Michael could tell... but well he's not here anymore...

I wish someone would keep them away from the public... and yes that means also from us fans... now jump on me if you want. But I had to say this... out of my love for Michael. They are too young. They are and will always be his children and his legacy. There is plenty of time and I want them to still have a choice when they will be old enough. That will be still early enough when law is giving them other decisions also. I want them to be happy.

Sorry, but you are overdramatizing this. An award ceremony won't make them child stars like Michael or Liz Taylor was and it won't steal away their childhood.

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys - Update pg 13 (All discussion here)

*UPDATE*

Prince and Paris Jackson, Michael Jackson's two oldest children, have been sweating over addressing the audience at tonight's Special Merit Awards ceremony .. where their dad will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.Joe Jackson tells TMZ Prince and Paris have each prepared a speech. Joe says they are both great speakers and Paris has been working on her speech for a week. As for the buzz that the kids will perform at the Grammys on Sunday -- Joe says it ain't happening.

*tear* What a wonderful honor this will be. I'm sure both Prince Michael's and Paris' speeches are wonderful and I know Michael would be proud of them. No need to sweat, I'm sure their speeches will be perfect. Nobody knows Michael better than they do. Best of luck to them tonight, sending tons of love their way.

Thanks for the update.

you got that wrong respect 77. It is very undramatic... it is about children growing up in the public eye... it is about allowing the public to make them celebrities... it is about still having a chance to chose if you really wanna be out there when they are old enough to make that decision themselves... that is the age they don't need a 'guardian' anymore.

Oh and let me add... it is about adults using children to make money.

Very true , but on the other side Mechi does have a point the kids are with a family who believe every jackson is the second Michael Jackson , It will not help them think of anything else when all of their cousins, uncles keep thinking and talking about spotlight and fame . I think the older two especially Prince seems very bright and won't be affected alot by what's going on , I'm worried about Paris and especially Blanket .:(

They are MJ's kids sure but that does not mean they are musically talented as their father was . But they are now in an environment where everyone believes he is John Lennon or MJ . They will be affected , the media did not hunt the rest of the family like they hunted MJ . They believe if they were in MJ's shoes they would have done much better and that's why they are graving for the spotlight and why they are pushing their kids to do the same . Who would tell these kids there are countless professions out there that you will shine in , you don't need to be part of hollywood ? No one in that family will do that , NO ONE , even the talentless members of the family are being told they are musical geniuses .

Being as the kids were never even at a rehearsal I very much doubt Michael was going to 'unveil' Prince at TII. That was reported by the likes of The Sun, nuff said imo.

Oh geez. Why can't you just wait and see what happens. Some of you are seriously overdramatizing and painting the devil on the wall before anything has even happened yet.

Having an opinion with reasons for it, is not to call dramatizing in my opinion Reeta.

Ppl are free to add their opinion here without being labeled this way or that way hm? I mean we're a discussion board aren't we?

We can maybe all agree to disagree with eachother when that is the case. But I personally would prefer everybody to step back from trying to belittle others or talk them down even when they might do have a different opinion.

So let's however (don't even know whom you mean with overdramatizing but that term is simply pretty offensive to whomever you could have meant) agree that indeed there is no drama here. Because using words like that can very well start a drama uh?

Let's try to add to a better atmosphere on this board if possible?

I personally do understand ppl who want to see the children appear at the grammys... and waiting for more news and more pictures and all that.
But also I personally wouldn't let them appear for the above reasons.
However I'm well aware non of us was named their guardian in Michaels last will.

My Opinion: I think public speaking is a good skill for Michael Jackson's children to learn. Their private teachers have probably turned the preparation for their acceptance speech into a class assignment and, thus,
a learning experience.

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys - Update pg 13 (All discussion here)

The kids will appear at the special nomination dinner which is PRIVATE. No tv broadcast. It'll happen tonight .

The awards will be live tomorrow. And I'm not sure if the kids will be there for that.

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys - Update pg 13 (All discussion here)

They will be at the show that is in 10 and a half hour ;) don't worry, they will ;)

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys - Update pg 13 (All discussion here)

It really breaks my heart to see them on a site like TMZ  Michael tried sooooo hard to keep the media far away from these beautiful children. I feel like so many things are going so wrong and there is nothing we can do about it. Even if I really want to know more about them I want the media to leave them alone. I really wish they could have the childhood their father never had. Sometimes I feel like it’s already too late. :(

Well first of all, my post wasn't aimed at anyone particular and when I say people are overdramatizing, isn't that just an opinion as well? ;) Like I said I just feel some of you are painting the devil on the wall before anything has even happened yet. As far as I know no one here has been belittling anyone. You either like kids to appear or then you don't, but in my opinion it's a bit silly to say Michael would not have wanted them to do that when the situation is what it is and you simply can't know cos obviously this would not be happening if he was still here.

And even though this goes off topic, there's immediately something wrong with the atmosphere if someone doesn't agree with you?

Sorry to say this, but: they were doomed to grow up in the public eye the moment they were born as the kids of Michael Jackson. Sure, Michael tried to protect them to a certain extent, but then he has also shown pictures of them to magazines from time to time.

And one award ceremony won't make them grow up in the public eye more than they already do or more than how they would grow up if they wouldn't attend this ceremony.

I agree that for any child it would be more healthy to be as far away from Hollywood and the celebrity world as possible. I am actually very much against showbusiness exploiting children. But it's not this single award ceremony that will do harm to these kids. It's the whole environment they are in (paparazzi following them, etc.) If Katherine would move with them to a much calmer place in the world and brought them up rather sheltered that would be good. And then they could attend an award ceremony like this from time to time and it still wouldn't cause them any harm.

well let's just agree to disagree... as I think consequent clearness is needed most with the media and public... I'm clearly against any appearance in the public eye and even more against every appearance 'on stage' till they are really old enough to decide themselves.
But I know there's a lot of money in the 'awwwwwwwwww' effect.
However you don't have to say 'sorry. I at least can respect you think different.

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys - Update pg 13 (All discussion here)

Them going tonight is a good thing and is also part of the grieving process. They are talking about there Dad which is a good thing. And what Michael may or may not have done concerning his kids does not matter now. Trusted his Mother with his children so he trusted her judgement that is good enough for me

No it's all ok if ppl disagree. I just look onto some techniques of discussions on the board lately a bit worried.
I'm not even of the opinion it always turn the atmosphere bad... but it is a danger in my opinion to turn the atmosphere between ppl only disagreeing.
I think discussion is perfectly possible in focussing on ones very own opinion and backing that up... without labeling others opinions 'silly' or 'overdramatizing'.
In my eyes that is offensive and not really backing up anything... but maybe intentionally or unintentionally distracting from a bit the weakness of ones own argument, thesis or whatever. In fact I think it's more talking really about the user of such words than it really is of any content.

lol but well we can even agree to disagree on that... of cuz! :agree::cheeky:
I just see it a reason why so many discussions are going nowhere but into circles of endless bickering lately on the board.

If I were Prince or Paris, at that age, I would want to accept the award for my father and not have my uncle or cousins do it. The are proud of their father; they are his closest family.
I don't see any reason why they shouldn't be able to handle this. They have lived their entire lives being stalked by fans and paparazzi. They have had mobs of fans knock them to the ground. They had people practically living outside of their gates their whole lives just to catch a glimpse of their father. They have already seen some of the craziest and the worst parts of humanity. They should be allowed to participate in a ceremony that show then the better side of people and see how much people loved their fathers work and legacy. And knowing Michael, he raised them to be wise and discerning. I think they will be fine. They are probably more mature than most adults.

But, In the end, it is not up to fans to decide what is right for Michael's children. He entrusted that to Katherine.

 this is going to be emotional isn't it.

Well, I'm glad there is no performance, they have enough pressure on them already.

The way different people have spoken about Blanket I think there is a lot of expectation on him regarding dancing etc.. :( he's only 7 isn't he.

They aren't walking the red carpet etc. are they so at least thats something.

On tonight is it? I bet they're nervous now, I hope they'll be ok.

I do worry if some kind of deal has been going on behind the scenes in order to get them to appear.

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys - Update pg 13 (All discussion here)

The thing we have to remember is that the KIDS might want to do this. THEY are the ones who say yes or no not us. We may not like it Michael may not like it but it is up to them what they do. tbh id rather see the kids then Jermaine accept this award for michael.
