Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys - Update pg 13 (All discussion here)

Some of you are taking this whole privacy thing way too far. I have a problem with so called friends releasing private images/videos of them etc... that is the real issue. However, as long as they want to, then I don't see why a PUBLIC appearance is a major issue. Do you want them to be reclusive hermits? As long as they're not singing/dancing then this shouldn't be a big deal.

Much of the attention they get comes from the fact that they're heavily protected (rarely seen, rarely heard) anyway.

Exactly! Some must think MJ kids need special protection from the world. There father was the biggest star in the world, and it is only natural that the media would be interested. I think it hurts them more that they were rarely seen when they were younger because now the press will want to know more.

I think Katherine and the Jackson family are doing a good job assimilating them into the Jackson family.

I was at TMZ i and i just red this wonderful comment on the Kids Speech update.

9. A Lifetime Achievement Award - too bad Michael Jackson couldn't have finished his lifetime. He certainly crammed a lot into the life he had though. I will be glued to my TV set this year and, if his kids are there live or on video, what a tremendous honor for us to witness the occasion. I'm sure their dad would be so very proud of them even though he protected them ferociously from being in the spotlight. Michael Jackson and his music will live on, despite comments borne only from ignorance and hate. We could all learn from his messages, his charity and his songs of humanity (as we will see on Sunday). I feel very fortunate to have been a part of his generation; very sad he wasn't able to complete his dreams. RIP Michael Jackson.

Aaw, they are preparing speeches. I know they will do great. They are intelligent children and they don't have to worry.

Although I am nervious, as if they were my children.

Wow, what a wonderful person and comment. :) I usually stay as far away from TMZ's comments. It seems that site only attracts the most ignorant of the ignorant. It's nice to see one nice thing there for a change.

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys

Michael would not want them to go. Bottom line. If they go, they are disrespecting his wishes. I don't this is true though, just a rumor so people watch

i thought they said when michael was going to do the concert he said he was going to introduce his kids to the world. if he said this then maybe they think he does want them to go to public events, as long as they are protected

That is what was said, exactly right, and of course he was gonna protect them, no doubt

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys

I think it would be great, sincerely, i dont want to see jermaine, please NO MORE!, is not that im against him, is just that he is NOTHING like Michael, BUT Prince Michael, Paris and Blanket are Michael extension.

THE KIDS WOULD BE GREAT ALONSIDE JANET

i think they would fair okay alongside Janet but they maybe shouldnt walk the red carpet. might a little to much , they are still young.

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys - Update pg 13 (All discussion here)

They are not doing the red carpet, is a fact Michael would have never allowed that.

awww bless them

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys - Update pg 13 (All discussion here)

the problem it's not the kids, the problem is a lot of fans fear the media will trash them like they did with their father, maybe not in the near future, even if some articles hinted that with little things like "let's see if they have some of his father talent lol"...it's just a genuine concern,i just don't want them to be used or trashed by the media.
if things are handled the right way, good for them to be self aware and proud of their dad and sending publicly this message to their own family and the world, the problem it's not them..

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys - Update pg 13 (All discussion here)

So is this awards show actually televised then? Maybe not, and I'd feel slightly better about it if it wasnt.

The thought of them accepting for him, making speeches etc, I'm welling up already. I quite admire them for it.

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys - Update pg 13 (All discussion here)

It's too early for the kids. Yes even for Prince and Paris. There's many more years to come and they will be for all their life present their Dads legacy and have countless more occasions to present their pride.

But the industry knows ppl are MJs children hungry and that means money... incredible money... and it's not ok to wrench that out of children... it will most likely harm them... even when they might want it themselves... they are too young.

Michael could tell... Liz Taylor can probably also... Mary-Kate Olson can... Mac can... Crown princess Victoria of Sweden can... even Britney can....... when the public wants you out there and wants you to see take a certain way of life... mercyless... the likelihood it does harm a young soul is not low in number! The public and yes also we as fans are partly mercyless... I mean come on read this board lately.

These shows are no place for children sorry... as much as everyone around would love to see them there... can't you see what that will risk for them? It's not worth it.

There will be countless possibilities for them in later years if that is what they really still want then. They will be always perceived as the children of their Dad and I personally pray they will find a life on their own even though and not run around like Lisa-Marie who's more Elvis daughter than anyone else?

Gosh as much as I do love to see them also... I want them to have a childhood and I want them to have the possibility to find out who they want to be before the public and any kind of industry will be able to pressure them a certain way... again mercyless.

Michael could tell... but well he's not here anymore...

I wish someone would keep them away from the public... and yes that means also from us fans... now jump on me if you want. But I had to say this... out of my love for Michael. They are too young. They are and will always be his children and his legacy. There is plenty of time and I want them to still have a choice when they will be old enough. That will be still early enough when law is giving them other decisions also. I want them to be happy.

It is a worry, but inevitable unfortunately. Their dad is Michael Jackson, that alone presents them with some tough challenges in whatever they choose to do with their lives. And the saddest thing is that Michael isnt here to guide them through. Remember Michaels interview I think with Barbara Walters when he said that if his kids chose to be in the limelight he wouldnt be adverse to it, but would want them to do it better than he did. Thats the best we can hope for. In the short time the kids had with Michael, its very clear how influential he was and has instilled the strength and humility that he had.

We will always worry about whether Michael would've wanted this or that for them but they will always try to do right by him as well as explore and become individuals and not just be Michael Jacksons children, we have to allow them that, even if the media wont.

but he has not legal rights on these medical records, only the legal representative.

Yes i agree with this also,I think they know more then we can imagine about life in general and what MJ (the artist) represented for the world..let's just hope everything's gonna be ok for them,it's a hard task but at the same time a great challenge.

I agree totally. I can see nothing wrong with the kids accepting an award for their daddy, especially if they want it too, or it was even their idea. (Who else would be more suitable to take that award?)

The problem is not things like this. The problem is when the paparazzi don't leave them alone and photograph them anywhere they go (like those photos when they attend the karate school etc.)

I don't see the site mentioning P & P?

I don't think they would officially advertise their appearance... So we'll just have to wait and see...

Re: Michael Jackson's Kids May Appear at Grammys - Update pg 13 (All discussion here)

wow cannot believe some of the stuff i am reading. to say 'oh i would love to see them' or 'i see no problem with them accepting the award' is just selfish imo. this isn't directed at anyone in particular, just my general feeling. who cares what we would like? it's nothing to do with us. all i know is, michael wouldn't have done it, and he was bringing them up beautifully until he died, so why should anyone go and ruin it for them now by making silly decisions. they are children, not trophies to be paraded around.

anyway, i'm not gonna involve myself in this thread any more, just annoys me lol

I'm one of those who see no problem with them accepting the award, so I will answer: I personally couldn't care less if they accept the award or not, so much of you accusing others to be "selfish". It's not something I would like, it's something - apparently - the kids would like.

As for if Michael wouldn't have done it. Well, wasn't he about to bring Prince on stage during TII? There were rumours about that. Also, didn't he show his kids to magazines and even in home movies sometimes? And (sadly) things have changed. Michael is dead and the kids can't run around in masks for ever. It's not like they are about to turn into child stars a la Michael, Liz Taylor or Macaulay Culkin. They just accept an award in a one-off occasion! No more.

Like I said, the paparazzi chasing them around wherever they go is a lot more worrying.
