Gen has been recording, shes bringing out her own music so she is probably going in her own right with her label/management, not just as part of the Jackson family. Janet has her own career so again, she wouldn't be going as part of the Jackson family.


Two sources close to the family said the youngest, 7-year-old Blanket, was not expected to appear, although they suggested that might change.

Contrary to some media reports, the sources said there was no plan for the children to sing or dance at the show.

Well thank goodness they aren't singing/dancing. Good call with Blanket too IMO.

I hope the kids don't feel this pressure and expectation, it can't be easy being the children of a supertalented megastar.

all i know is im a fan of michael, why do i or the public need to see the kids on stage like michael? its not michael. i wish celeb kids can have their own life without the public trying to live out the kids through the parents.

I agree with you.. They may actually want to accept an award for their father and excited about it.. If that is the case good for them...

looks like the grammys plan allready works. now everybody is gonna tune in to see if the rumor was true. I would never watch the grammys if it wasnt for the MJ 3D tribute.

I still can't come round to this idea. I really can't imagine it's what Michael would have wanted. He did everything to protect them and give them the childhood he didn't have and he was so good at it. I'm not ready to disregard his wishes yet because he's no longer here. :no: Someone said he was gonna show them to the world, there was absolutely nowhere where he said that...all rumour. I just can't help but think he would be upset by this. How times have changed.

the kids should be proud of who their are...it's hard to be in the spotlight and they should do this only if they want that but I think that maybe this kind of things makes them feel closer to Michael...and no matter what they decide to do in the future they will always be Michael Jackson kids!and that's just great because he was a wonderfull father that showed them what life is really about!it would be nice for them to carry on his legacy-a better world united trought LOVE!

Well, if this is what the children want then I support the decision. Paris showed at the memorial she is one brave little lady. God bless all of them.

Prince and Paris are almost teens... Michael wouldn't have hide them forever.

she has no label...her mom is her manager (& apparently she does not even speak english)...So Genevieve was going on MJ's coattail.
As for Janet, she does not attend these shows unless she is nominated (which is not the case this year) or performing (again, not happening this year).

This Sunday’s Grammy Awards is set to open with a tribute to Michael Jackson. There will be the 3D “Earth Song” from Michael’s cancelled “This Is It” concert. Then a selection of pop stars including Smokey Robinson, Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood and Usher is scheduled to perform a medley of Michael’s hits.
But what hasn’t been determined is who will accept Michael’s Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award. Jackson is to be honored along with Bobby Darin, Loretta Lynn, Clark Terry, David Honeyboy Edwards, Andre Previn, and Leonard Cohen. Among the winners of the Trustees award are Florence Greenberg, founder of Scepter Records and subject of the new musical, “Baby It’s You.”
As usual, though, the Jackson family is at odds over who’s supposed to receive the Grammy statue on Saturday at the late afternoon ceremony scheduled for the Wilshire Ebell Theater. Sources say that Michael’s brothers want to do the honors. But Jackson’s three children — Prince, Paris, and Blanket — have voiced opposition to this plan.
“The kids are tired of the brothers getting the attention. They want to stand up for their father.”
This tug of war has become a regular issue lately as the three kids grow more savvy about the Jackson family, and more aware of their own place in preserving their dad’s memory.
Meanwhile, Michael’s self-aggrandizing father, Joe Jackson, made little progress yesterday in his court battle to receive a shocking $20,000 per month allowance from his son’s estate.

If true, I guess Jermaine taking his kids on stage at the AMA and FORGETTING to thank MJ was a bitter pill to swallow.

I understand you, but in my opinion you can't think "what Michael would have wanted or what he would have done" in everything what's happening cos naturally things would be totally different if he was still here. The children made their first public appearance at the memorial and based on my intuition they still have had as normal life as possible and according to people close to them like Janet for example they are happy and lively. So what I am trying to say here is that the appearance at the memorial did not hurt them, so why would this? Michael trusted Mrs. Jackson and so do I and I am so sure she wouldn't let the kids do anything that would hurt them or would be entirely against Michael's wishes.
Maybe accepting the award is psychologically a big thing for the children and they have requested to do that?

For petes sake these are just children & plus, paris hates having cameras around! my god I just ask & pray for the kids ; sometimes you can't avoid the paparazzi.

Maybe they should move away from the LA area temporarily? I would hate to see paris and her brothers get disguised just to go to the park or to the movies..

Paparazzi are not their worst enemy. Most pics that appeared online were private and were leaked by someone close to them. And now videos began to leak.

Just saying.

Yeah, I know you're right. Things are going to be different, and if this is really what they want to do then of course, they should be able to do it, it would probably cause them more harm to say no to them in that case. I don't know, I guess I just find it hard to believe we're even discussing all this. Thanks for your response, you made me see it from a different perspective. :hug:

tbh im not inclined to believe this. it sounds like whoever is feeding friedman with stories/info is the one who has the agenda and is using the kids to push it

I think also it will be briilliant if the kids are ready to accept awards for there father, but i really dont buy all the talk of arguing with the children, irs probably sibling rivalry again as you can plain see in the jacksons dynasty, but lets face it, every family has this, i know mine did.

I know people in this thread have different opinions but what I see that this proves is that the MJ3 have so many people looking out for their best interests which is great to see. Its so clear that we all want the best for them which I bet has Michael grinning from ear to ear.

Michael Jackson's Children To Appear At Pre-Grammy Event

Paris and Prince Jackson expected to accept Lifetime Achievement Award for their father at Special Merit Awards ceremony Saturday.

Two of Michael Jackson's three children, Prince and Paris, are rumored to be making an appearance at the Grammys' Special Merit Awards ceremony in Los Angeles to accept a Lifetime Achievement Award for their father, CNN reports. The ceremony will be held Saturday night, the night before the Grammy Awards, which will feature a tribute to the late King of Pop.

As of now, Blanket is not expected to take the stage with his older siblings, but sources close to the Jacksons tell CNN that may change. "The whole world is waiting to see these children blossom," Brian Oxman, a lawyer for Joe Jackson, said.

This would mark the first public appearance from the Jackson kids since their father's memorial service last summer, during which Paris spoke movingly about missing her father. CNN disputes reports that the children will sing and dance at the show. A video of the award presentation is expected to be shown at the Grammys.

The Jackson children will be joined by his mother, Katherine. Sources say that his father, Joe, will not be in attendance, reportedly because he is angry about the behind-the-scenes decision to have the children appear at the awards show. According to CNN, the children were asked to accept the award earlier this week after Katherine complained that no Jackson family members had been invited.

On Sunday, Carrie Underwood, Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion and Smokey Robinson will pay tribute to Jackson during the Grammy telecast in a segment that will include never-before-seen footage from Jackson's 3-D film "Earth Song." "Hopefully, [the performers are] people that he respected and liked," Underwood said about the tribute. "I'm just honored they asked me. Of course, we said yes before we knew the details. I'm there, and I think it will be a really cool moment on the show."

I'm thinking that since the children will not be on stage at the "actual" Grammy telecast, they will be fine.

We all saw Miss Paris at Michael's Memorial and it appears that she knows how to express what she would like to do. She got up there with no prompting and showed such poise, strength and elegance on her own accord, of her own free will.

I also wouldn't be surprised if after seeing Jermaine "dragging" his children up on the AMA stage, that Miss Paris said "hey I'd like an opportunity to do something like that."

The only problem now is, IF they show a clip of the children accepting an award for Michael, the Grammy night will be ALL about the children. LOL! Nobody will care who won what at the end of the night. It will end up being "OMG did you see Prince and Paris Jackson!"

Like many of you I think the privacy and protection of Prince, Paris and Blanket is paramount for me. So I imagine, it maybe 10 times more paramount for Mrs. Katherine Jackson.

I do agree also, it is time for someone else to accept an award on behalf of Michael with a good prepared speech with a focus on Michael's humanity, not just his humanitarian efforts but also for the fact that he was mistreated, misunderstood, and misrepresented. Yet he never deviated from who he was as a person in life, a humble, sensitive, loving, generous, and a great father.

Keeping the family in my prayers.
