Re: "Breaking News" All Discussion Here [Merged]

Random thought. If the streaming version of Breaking News is really the final version, why did they leave the snort in it?

OF COURSE because it's the only take they have..
What kind of question is this?!

The vocal track is so highly clipped and edited though. THey could have edited out the snort. Just saying.

Re: "Breaking News" All Discussion Here [Merged]

No matter WHO insists that is Michaels' voice....I just CANNOT believe it...I'm not in denial; gawd, i KNOW this man's voice....He's been singing since he was 5 years old...the public, his fans, the WORLD knows this man's voice....I'm just absolutely astonished that we're even questioning this....I was SO ecstatic a few days ago; on cloud nine...nothing could go wrong...I wish with all my heart that this is really Michael...but I have to be honest with myself..it's NOT him...it's just not....
I'm becoming more convinced that being able to hear one voice from another is not a given for the entire population. It's true that we don't all have the same skills at everything. For example, visual depth perception, wine tasting or face recognition. I think of a few people I know (adults, lol) who seem to have problems recognizing actors and actresses in films. "Look! It's Meg Ryan!" ... huh? That's not Meg Ryan! ... "Yes it is!" .... no, it's not! .... "It's definitely her". But it's not. It's someone who kind of looks like Meg Ryan. Some people can taste when cooking oil is just starting to go rancid, while others will eat it up saying, "mmmm, tastes fine to me!". And perception of fine differences in voice is seemingly not quite the same thing as the ability to hear proper pitch, but something that's more subtle, like the way you can't understand lyrics when you're 10, but hear the same song years later and they're crystal clear to you. Practice, maturity, fine-tuning. It's why many native speakers can understand the garbled speech of small children while someone newer to a language is like, "Huh?"

In any case, 'Breaking News' does not contain MJ lead vocals and the majority of us could tell the very moment that damned song began that it was NOT Michael Jackson singing. Because it's NOT Michael Jackson singing! There are samples of him in there, cut and paste style (uh, heee, etc), but that's it. The main vocal is SOOOOOO not MJ that it's nearly impossible to comprehend how it's not blatantly, insanely obvious to everyone. Even my mother could hear it (and she's not a fan)! I know that's not MJ and no one at Sony who declares it's him to cover their own a$$es and no expert bought off by Sony to cover their a$$es is going to make me accept an imposter and the tarnishing of Michael's legacy like this. It's twisted and sickening. He doesn't deserve that and neither do we. What's next? They bring in a look-alike and declare his death was a hoax and he's just been away having some plastic surgery (hence why it doesn't exactly look like him anymore)??? How many would believe it then? And attack the rest of us who could easily tell it wasn't Michael? I guess about 25% or so.

I know someone's probably going to be offended now, but dangit, it's the truth and I'm getting so exhausted by this. I'm just looking for an explanation, some reason why not everyone can hear the difference. Is it like being able to tell one shade of blue from another? Not everyone can. No one wants to be told that they're the one who's ears aren't working, but... hello. Think of how many times people were quick to declare a Jason Malachi track as "MJ". How come some have to listen repeatedly to a fake track to determine "if" it's MJ, while others know immediately? MJ's voice is very distinct and he had his own pronunciation, enunciation, vibrato, tone, etc, no matter which "style" he was singing you could still tell it was MJ! People bring up the 2000 Watts thing. Ummm... I could tell right away it was still Michael, good grief.

Now the next question is... who did this and why???! Who put the fake vocals on it? Cascio? Or Sony? And is Sony STUPID or DEVIOUS? Or both? :puke:

Re: "Breaking News" All Discussion Here [Merged]

I just tried playing BN slower on the computer and then try to correct the pitch a bit and it sounds more like Michael. I think with BN Michael sung it slower like at the tempo of Streetwalker like the line "baby I love you baby to love me", and then they just sped his voice up to make it faster for a dance track.

I hear you, 100% with you on what you say (I don't like jumping on the bandwagon, or creating drama, or running around creating noise but in this case I can so clearly HEAR that it's not him I'd have to force myself into believing otherwise by intoxication or cutting out parts of my brain and ears lol :p It is not him. There's bits and pieces of his vocals but majority is not).

I think this something most can agree on. They should not be putting ANY songs that we feel any doubt. Breaking News feels as if it's tainted, and if there is any other songs that are "Questionable" they need to GET RID of them. Cascio seems to be the only problem here, any of his songs have got to go.

Re: "Breaking News" All Discussion Here [Merged]

You shouldn't have to do that White Shadow. It should have sounded like Michael on the track and it doesn't. I swear when I first heard the guy sing "Michael Jacksonnah", in between being disgusted and confused, I loled. This guy is trying far too hard to sound like Michael and he over did it. Big time.

*stands up and applauds*

MJbunny, this is one of the best posts I've read throughout this entire mess. I think you're right. Hearing is like the other senses. Some are predisposed to have higher sensitivity and fine-tuning in the area of hearing just like sight, smell, and touch. That has to be a key element in all this.

Thank you for your post.

Exactly. It's like, they are trying to over exaggerate everything to try to convince us that it is him..Which, is really sad.

I think you're absolutely right about people having a talent or ear for differentiating between different voices. I don't think I have a very good ear for it. I'll admit that I could probably be fooled by Jason Malachi tracks being labeled as Michael Jackson tracks.

However, I can definitely tell that there is something wrong with the verses in BN. Maybe it's a different person, or maybe he just had a cold or something. IDK. It definitely doesn't sound normal to me, though.

Sorry, I don't share your view.
I did so too, but not just by changing the speed on my default media player but with professional tools at the studio where we produce-record-mix my songs and to me, it was still not Michael.
We tried several things: First we tried slowing the track down without changing the pitch at all. Then we did the inverse process. We changed the pitch without modifying the speed. Then we tried both.
And then we did all over again but the other way around (we sped up the track, we took the pitch to a higher level instead than lower ones, etc).

We also tried with the 'clean' acapella that's been around for a couple of days.

It never sounded like MJ. It never will.

Re: "Breaking News" All Discussion Here [Merged]

All this "Breaking News" mess, just brought me a fight with my best friend. We argued, because one believes it's MJ, and one believes it's not.
So, who should I thank for these 10 years of friendship, which just went to hell??? I'm so sick of it! :(

There are 7 great, no doubt, 100 percent Michael Jackson songs on the new album. I will ALWAYS support those.

Ok... After listening to this song MANY times. i have come to one conclusion. This May in fact be Michael. Yesterday i went through and listened to Invincible and 2000watts is heavy with digital enhancements. I feel the same thing has happened with Breaking News. His voice has been digitally altered. We all know who it sounds like but the thousands of times its been through my ears and my ear buds i have a strong feeling that it has been altered to pitch his voice an octave lower then we are used to. I am convinced after listening to it that many times that we the fans are wrong.

Re: "Breaking News" All Discussion Here [Merged]

I truely start to belive this was a test. BUT not by Sony. Sony is average Joe. For them it sounds like Michael. Just like those 133.000 that voted on TMZ, it's Michael. I doubt they did any forensic analysis.

Now, Michael recorded something with Cascio. But not completed anything. Some backing vocals, some lead vocals, but no full song. Cascio takes someone with close vocal range like Michael to fulfil the songs. Gives them to the Estate.
the Estate either knows that the songs aren't only Michaels vocals or are suspicious. And gives this particular track to Sony to test, if this could pass.
It fails.

they could have easily give one song out that has no doubt in anyway, like DYKWCA or Much too soon.
I know, I repead what have been said. But to me there is no other explanation.

And about changing the pitch. It's none sense. Like It was said, changing Janet voice with lower pitch, she soungs like Michael. So that doesn't give any prove.

Re: The Estate NEEDS to see this: REAL evidence of the Cascio tracks being fake!!!

Uh, there is some voice talking on the second video that prevents me from hearing anything.

I still haven't seen any evidence to convince me that the lead vocals on Breaking News are not MJ.

Re: "Breaking News" All Discussion Here [Merged]

Me too, remove the questionable tracks. What the hell is wrong with sony

Re: "Breaking News" All Discussion Here [Merged]

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Much Too Soon. I don't know it was recorded, but somehow I feel it's not an Invincible outtake. If only sony put more tracks like this on the album, I'll forgive them for Breaking News!

I've gone back and forth so many times...but It's just so hard for me to accept it's him..but let's just say for the sake of argument it's him. Why would Sony release something that was bound to make this sort of reaction? I mean...when you listen to it, in your mind it's like "Is...this him?...." . That should NEVER been the case y'know? We listen to the snippet of Do You Know Where Your Children Are? and it's obviously him, and everyone knows it right away...

It is incredibly suspicious that Sony would release this thinking they would not get a reaction like this. It's publicity, but IMO, it does more harm than good.. This is incredibly confusing and conflicting and I am unsure why Sony/Estate would let this happen in the first place.

Re: "Breaking News" All Discussion Here [Merged]

I'd rather have a 5 track EP album with songs which i know are 100% MJ. That's better than having a 10-15 track album with questionable songs on it.

Yeah, for Requiem. (Sorry, I'm pages behind on the thread still, lol.) He was working on it when he died and had only written the first part and left some bars of vocals for a couple other parts. There's a lot of weirdness around it, like scraps of paper with outlines for more of the music that disappeared over time, the possibility that the person who commissioned the piece intended to claim it as their own work. In the end it's like 25% (or less?) Mozart and the rest Süssmayr, another composer that had worked with him. But at least we know he didn't write it all. If the work had depended on Mozart's voice, though, I guess Süssmayr's wouldn't have sufficed. Sorry, that was all OT. I just love Requiem, lol.

ok i know its hard but please listen to this song again. We are WRONG. All of us are. I have listened to this song so many times and its him. he has been altered to sound lower then what we are used to. Look at 2000 watts its the same thing. Michael is on that song it is him i am convinced of it.
