Bmi Urban Awards... mike didnt appear

I think it was a harmless joke. Anyone wanting to miscontrue it as the brothers being at odds probably want to see it as that. Seemed like a little brotherly ribbing..in a cute way, imo. Nothing more. And who knows if Michael actually IS in Egypt somewhere riding a camel. The man gets around, no? :p

I don't think they're at odds, I just think it was a stupid thing to say and can be taken the wrong way, which it will, by the media.

I don't know," Marlon told The Associated Press before the show. "I think he's in Egypt riding a camel or something."

LOL. probably was sick of being asked by everyone. nice pics nice to see the family together bar mike shame in that sense he wasnt there but u know if he hd gone, for the next 6 months it would be phonecalls from the bros about lets do a reunion again because he turned up to get an award with them lol

Its a shame that Michael Jackson couldn't take the time to appear with his family at this ceremony. More attention would have been brought on the honor if MJ was there. As it stands, even with Janet there, most people don't even know the Jacksons received this honor. I say it's a shame because they took the time to support him in his darkest hour as a family and he, AS LEAD SINGER alone, should have returned the favor and participated. There is no excuse. This wasn't something planned 5 minutes ago. He had ample time to rearrange his schedule. I'm starting to believe that Michael Jackson wants nothing to do with his family.

There was no television coverage of this event, so he wouldn't have to be concerned.

There was no expectation of him to perform.

And it would have been the chance for him to publicly show his support to his family.

Maybe I'm the only one that feels that way. There won't be many more opportunities for all the family to be all together like this. Even Chris Tucker was there.

God, and it starts... This crap is so damn predictable.

It doesn't matter that no one knows about the award, nobody cares anyway about it. THe people who gave it, the people in attandance and Michael's fans know about it, which is baiscally the only people that would have known about it anyway, as it wasn't televised. Give me a break with that "they were there for him in his darkest hour" crap. Forget the fact that he pays all the bills and pays for their kids education, and basically supports their cost of living. Whatever.

tell me about it and if mj had of gone there would have been something else to moan about like his hair or dress sense.

not juicy enough to skew.

Well it seems odd that they would only ask Marlon where Michael was, doesn't it? Probably the least known of the family, yet his quotes the one that made the articles. Marlon's iffy though as it is. He's always acting questionable or saying something questionable, so it doesn't surprise me.

You knew it was coming. I'm surprised it took 62 posts before it went into overdrive. :timer: And now the drama begins.

GIVE ME A BREAK!

They are for him in his darkest hour, because that's what family is supposed to do. This was an award ceremony, not a liver transplant. LOL!

You act like this award was ONLY about Michael Jackson, when it was a celebration of ALL the brothers. Jermaine wasn't there either, does that mean he let his family down also? Or is that "honor" just for Michael.

I agree that it doesn't look good. Michael's image took a beating in the public arena. It would have been nice to see him standing there basking in the sunshine with his parents and his siblings. It would be a show of support for him and also his first presents on an american stage. It would also silence the critics who claim that he is neglecting his family and his parents. Oh, well. Next time Stacey Brown gets on the podium and make claims the media will run with it.imho

Ugh!

Maybe this isn't the thread to debate how close or separate Michael and his family might be. All families have issues and sometimes certain members aren't on speaking terms. Not the end of the world. Eventually, they make up and aren't speaking to someone else. That's the way of the family world. If Jermaine didn't show up and no one had a tizzy, no one should be having one that Michael didn't show up, imho.

And none of us have no way of knowing whether or not another opportunity for them to be together will present itself in the future. To act like this was some last resort effort to prove family unity is a bit much to me. We have no way of knowing that, unless someone here is psychic and knows something the rest of us don't about the future.

It was a happy occassion. Why can't folks just enjoy it for what it was. The family was honored, Marlon was a wiseass (I agree the comment wasn't juicy enuf to exploit), but overall, it sounds like it was a nice event. Congrats again, to all of them. It was overdue, imo.

Janet looks great. I'm so glad she dyed her hair back black; I was gettin sick of the brown.

What exactly are you objecting to? What did I say wrong?
Nothing and It's not an objection really. Like you, I thought it woulda been nice if he were there too.
But to suggest (thats the way it sounds anyway) that it's because all emphasis would be on him,
does not sound reasonable.
However, it still seemed to be a successful family turn-out and that's what matters.

Yeah, it was only a matter of time. Shoot, we all were saying this would happen as soon as it was announced they would be given an award.

People will make excuses for Jermaine not being there, but with Michael, it's just him being ungrateful. Gag me with a spoon.

It was a lovely family turnout and a glorious tribute to the Jacksons. Did you notice Latoya's haircut?:D

That show finished filming a while back.

Good thing you said it elusive, someone needed to.

See how excuses are made for Jermaine, but Michael is just being ungraeful and selfish. Blah, blah, effeing blah.

Howabout them Jabbawokees............(or however you spell that friggin name!)? Great tribute. Great dancers. I hope Michael will be able to see footage of the performance, tho, I am sure it's not on his to-do list at the moment. Those guys are good, and I think Michael would like performing with them.

I hope some more performances filter in on YouTube. I, personally, would love to see Mario's performance on Heartbreak Hotel.

Aaaaaand all the Jackson's looking fly as ever! LaToya is looking fantastic along with all the others.

Yes, indeed. It doesn't look good, esp when his parents made the effort. he must have had his reasons.
It doesn't make him look good, I've already read comments like "does Michael think hes too good for these events, his brothers were there for him why cant he go" yadda yadda yadda.
Its not the end of the world, but it would have been nice to see them together as a family. I wonder why he decided not to go... but nevermind.

QUOTE]

I don't think those comments made are true... I don't think MJ thinks that he is too good for his family or anything else that may have been said.
