Re: Batman: The Dark Knight [All threads merged]

I finally saw it. Heath WAS the film. On it's own the film is good, but Heath made it special. He made the Joker real, he made him sympathetic and relatable, he made you care about the character. He brought a truth to the role and humanity. Even though the Joker was doing things you couldn't understand or connect with, Heath somehow made the character someone you felt for, someone you understood, someone you wanted to come out on top, because as warped as the Joker's thought process was, Heath made it seem like he was right. He raised it to the level of art, which I think rarely occures in acting. Heath created truth with his role, and because of that, he shouldn't just be nominated for an oscar, he should win. Heath was obviously a special person whose flame extinguished too early. The special ones always suffer in the world though. But he made an impact and as my father said, he is an important figure in the world. He wasn't an actor, he was an artist.

The film itself was good, enjoyable, but Heath Ledger was the only thing in it that really mattered at all.

Bravo! AMEN. Loved every word. Thanks!

I agree he did make the joker REAL. Twisted creepy crazy..but u LIKE him because he is damn entertaining and having too much fun with it lol

The rest of the movie i have to give props to as well cuz the filming was excellent, the special effects were amazing, the writing was TOP NOTCH and CLEVER. The characters of Batman and Dent were also well played. Bale makes a good batman, I must say...I didn't think I'd like him as Batman at first but he proved me wrong.

I wanna see it AGAIN!

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight [All threads merged]

Definitly the film in itself was excellent. I just think Heath Ledger made it go from just a good film to a great film. His performance was that powerful.

I saw it again today for the third time, and Heath's performance is still as breath taking as it was the first time. LOVED EVERY MOMENT! I want to see it again actually, and I will when I get paid again! LOVED IT!!!

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight [All threads merged]

IDK how long it's going to take me to get over this movie.. I can't get it off my mind.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight [All threads merged]

Random note: When The Joker was releasing those tapes, and when he threatened to blow up a hospital live on the news, I kept thinking to myself, "Superman sure is a dick for not stepping in."

Also, I chuckled when Joker said "the irresistible force meets the immovable object." I know most people wouldn't spot it, but I think that was an allusion to Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant at WrestleMania 3.

Man I as well can't get over this movie! I even started watching the animated series lol. I even forgot about Harley Quinn..

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight [All threads merged]

Yeah, the film does have that affect, where you can't stop thinking about it. It really was excellent, and Heath Ledger to me just put it over the top. Everyone else was excellent as well, but Heath was exceptional.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight [All threads merged]

^^^^

Lol, me too! I thought I was the only one. I loved Joker. The whole time I was just looking forward to his next scene. What is everyone's fave scene/quote (s) from the movie?

For me personally, I can't choose but there are so many quotables in this film. I loved anytime Joker asked "Why So Serious"? and I loved the scene with the Pencil trick. I just loved pretty much everything about this movie. I can't wait to see it again.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight [All threads merged]

yes I fell in love with the joker character! I mean I was rooting for Joker over Batman.

ME TOO!! I went and watched it for the third time today and was mystified AGAIN by Heath and the film! I've been remembering stuff from when I was a young girl, like watching Batman and thinking the Joker (from the Tim Burton Film) was the greatest....I never really cared for Batman...LOL! **shrugs** Anyway, I also remember being in a book shop and my mother bought my brother a Batman comic and I got to get a Catwoman comic! I LOVED CATWOMAN! I always wanted to be her! I thought she was the coolest thing since sliced bread, and with the whole Batman Returns...LOL! Well, the rest is history, as they say. Now as I have seen 'The Dark Knight' three time I can't wait to see it again, it's like I cannot get over it! I LOVE THE JOKER! Everytime he was on the screen I was like YES!!!!!! And then when he wasn't on the screen I was wishing he was. LOL! I haven't been this infatuated with a film or Character since 2005 with 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' and I saw THAT movie 13 times in the theatre God only knows how many more times I'll see this film! EEEP!

I love so many of the Joker's lines...A few of my favourites are as follows:

"I believe whatever doesn't kill you only makes you stranger."

"I kill the bus driver."

Mob guy: "So you think you can just come in here and demand half our money?"
Joke: **has pins to grenades on thumb** "...yeah..."

"I think you and I are destined to do this forever." (This line gives me chills EVERY TIME!)

"Madness is like gravity, all it takes is a little push. **laughs**"

There are many MANY more favourite lines, I just cannot list them all. Hell EVERY line the Joker had was pure gold! Even when he didn't say anything...He didn't have too! It was magic!!!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS FILM! AND I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE IT AGAIN!!!

This movie is like a really good ex-boyfriend/girlfriend. It's just so hard to get over!

OMG! I LOVED the pencil trick, and everytime I've seen the movie that part gets reactions like, "OH! SHIT!" or "JESUS!!" from the people around me. It's greatness, and I love the Joker's reaction to it. He was like, "Oh! It's gone! Where'd it go? It's magic!" Or something like that...And then he makes like he's actually looking for it for a second or two...LOL..it's hilarious but in a sick and twisted sort of way. LOL!

So I went and saw the movie in IMAX on Sunday morning (which I highly recommend doing, if you get the chance. The big action sequences & panoramic shots were shot for IMAX and they look really cool blown up all big on the screen), and I'm still reeling from the film :swoon:. There's so much I could say, but I won't. Just go see it if you can. You really won't regret it. It's an excellent film (that beat that stupid Spider-Man 3 & broke a lot of $$$ records no less. HA! Take that you sorry excuse for a film! :tease:). (And oh man, the Watchmen trailer before it - my friends & I must have had conniptions! :wild:).

YES, Heath steals the show. But I think Aaron Eckhart is really great too. Of course, those Joker scenes are committed to memory now. I will say that the whole hospital bit is fantastic - you can see just how committed Heath was to the role by all the little nuances in his acting, his mannerisms, everything. I hope the Academy considers those things, because Heath absolutely should get the Oscar. It's a damn shame too because the story was probably set up with Heath's continued performance as the Joker for the next film :(. Anyhoo, I also particularly really loved the exchanges between the Joker and Batman. For a long time fan, it does the relationship justice and so much more, but to moviegoers in general I can see how this film just stands apart from so many other films. It's a very solid good film, from start to finish (though a little on the long side, but that doesn't matter). One with so much going on that it garners multiple viewings, which I certainly intend to do as soon as I can.

Random note: When The Joker was releasing those tapes, and when he threatened to blow up a hospital live on the news, I kept thinking to myself, "Superman sure is a dick for not stepping in."

Well that's because Superman is a dick XD :rollin:. If anyone ever insisted on the contrary, they just need look here: http://superdickery.com/

A prime example if I ever saw one :D

Man I as well can't get over this movie! I even started watching the animated series lol. I even forgot about Harley Quinn..

The series is a wonderful thing to rediscover! It's great stuff, isn't it? I'll never forget how after returning from my study abroad, my friend told me how she fell in love with the series and Batman in general from the bunch of DVDs and comics I left with her, the animated series included. It's just so good! So heartfelt! And Harley Quinn is an *awesome* character! I wonder sometimes what it might be like if they ever brought her into the films... She's just so much fun. And unlike a lot of villains with other superheroes, most of the Rogues Gallery of Batman's have backgrounds & origins that you can sympathize with. Harley's that too. It's great .

Yeah, the film does have that affect, where you can't stop thinking about it. It really was excellent, and Heath Ledger to me just put it over the top. Everyone else was excellent as well, but Heath was exceptional.

It really does. Must. have. more. Dark. Knight. *_*

Oh wow, your enthusiasm is awesome! :kickass: Yeah, there were way too many good lines . A few them were pulled straight from the comics, or at least were heavily inspired by them. That "I think you and I are destined to do this forever" bit? That would be one. I'm so glad the Nolan brothers are fans themselves . They really know how to treat the genre and revitalize a franchise. Make it real. And dark the way Batman was intended. But I'm going off on a tangent again , lol. So 13x for 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory', huh? WOW, lol. Yeah, my guess is a lot of people are gonna see TDK again, maybe even 3 times. Like people who wouldn't normally. It'll be interesting to see how that plays out.

Oh, and OMG - I can't believe I forgot to post this here!!:

This video is well-edited small trailer-type deal. A friend sent it to me a couple weeks ago knowing that two of the biggest loves in my life are Batman and MJ, and seeing as how this is a Michael Jackson forum & considering the content of this thread, there could really be no better combination . Enjoy :D:D:D.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight [All threads merged]

That series of scenes made me really cry the first time watching it because of how perfect Heath really was in it, in the whole damn film. And it hurts to know he'll never again share his artistry in another completed film. I guess this is why I never want the movie to end while I'm watching it, just knowing it is his last completed work.

I know. I kept wishing, while watching the film, that he was still here. It sucks so much that he died, it really, really does. He was an artist.

What I like about what he did with the Joker is, even though he was doing these aweful things, he seemed like the only, truly honest character, like the only one you could believe in, even if what he represented was wrong, you could still trust him to be that. I don't know if that makes sense to anyone else, but that's what I thought. And it was like, even though the Jokers philosophy was warped, Heath Ledger made the character seem like he was right in everything he said, like he was more truthful and intelligent then the rest. He was able to make what should have been an unsympathetic character sympathetic, and that takes a great actor.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight [All threads merged]

OMG seerees! That vid is AWEsome!

I love how "The dark knight" morphs in to "DANG" and then "he's no joke" lol

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight [All threads merged]

This movie cannot get out of my mind.. I think about it even in the middle of the night sometimes.. IDK why. I just enjoyed it a lot.. :)

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight [All threads merged]

I havent fully read this thread as I do hope to catch the film soon. Only just saw Batman Begins at the weekend, which I enjoyed and have since developed a HUGE crush on Christian Bale, why havent I noticed him before!!! He's a hottie! The joker certainly looks a lot more creepy this time around though, everyone is raving bout Heath Ledgers performance, its a tragic thing that he isnt here to be a part of the whole thing. Im sure his family are really very proud though.

Just got back from seeing the movie for the first time, and all I have to say is wow! This movie was incredible, it had me on the edge of my seat throughout the film, and Heath Ledger stole the show. I honestly can't look at the Joker the same way again, Heath was the Joker. It's a shame he'll never get to reprise the role.

The pencil scene was also hilarious.

That whole "LOOK AT ME!!!" gave me chills. Forget Batman, Joker owned.

I know a lot of people are calling hype, but Heath really deserves an Oscar. He really transformed Joker into somethin' else.

I know. What was so freightening was how he would go from being humerous and acting as though everything was just one big game to being deadly serious when someone wasn't doing what he wanted and he would just become so angry. It was a perfect portrayle. Most of the time playful and comical, even in his nasty deeds, but always with a very real sense of danger and conviction underneith, which sometimes would show itself fully.

I said it before, but Heath added a dimention to the Joker which made him seem like the only truly honest and real character in the film, even though what he was doing was wrong, you had the sense that he believed in it completely, that he wasn't hiding anything and because of that, you felt he was actually right in what he was doing, as crazy as that is, lol.

And The pencil trick....hehehe...His (The Joker's) reaction to it is HILARIOUS! That's all I'll say.

Heath is soooooooo getting nominated for this role. I have a VERY big feeling. The Joker is the MAN!! And that only came about BECAUSE of Heath. Brilliance all around.
