Michael Jackson Manslaughter Hearing Delayed

Dr. Conrad Murray will not face charges until January, 2011

Dr. Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson's personal physician at the time of his death, will not face the involuntary manslaughter charges related to Jackson's death until next year. The judge overseeing the trial pushed the preliminary hearing to January 4th, 2011 because some witnesses are unavailable, and because the investigation is still ongoing, Reuters reports. At the hearing, both sides will present their evidence, and the judge will decide whether to give Murray a full-scale trial. Jackson's death, by "acute propofol intoxication," was has already been ruled a homicide.
Look back at Michael Jackson's life in photos.
At a hearing attended yesterday by Michael's parents, Joe and Katherine Jackson, two-dozen Jackson fans billing themselves "Justice for MJ" stood outside the courthouse with banners demanding that Murray be charged with murder. Murray is accused of giving Jackson a combination of the powerful anesthetic propofol and other sedatives, which caused Jackson to go into fatal cardiac arrest. Murray and his lawyers will reportedly argue that Jackson self-administered the deadly propofol dose when Murray left the room. Yesterday, Murray's defense team asked for permission to retest three samples from syringes and an intravenous drip found at the scene of Jackson's death.

Evidence against Jackson doctor to be heard January 2011

LOS ANGELES — A Los Angeles judge has set a January 2011 hearing to weigh whether there is sufficient evidence to prosecute Michael Jackson's doctor with involuntary manslaughter over the singer's death.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor said prosecutors would have until January 4, 2011 to gather their evidence against Conrad Murray.
The 57-year-old doctor, who was with Jackson when he died June 25, 2009, was charged with involuntary manslaughter in February this year, but is free on a 75,000 dollar bond.
Officials have ruled that Jackson died after being injected with a powerful cocktail of sedatives and painkillers, including propofol, which the singer regularly requested from Murray to help him sleep.
At a June hearing, Pastor refused a California Medical Board request that Murray be banned from practicing until the charges against him were resolved. The judge said another court had already barred Murray from injecting patients with strong sedatives, including propofol.
Prosecutors said Monday they expected it would take around two to three weeks for the evidence against Murray to be presented next year. Pastor asked both sides to return to the court for a status hearing on October 26.
The proceedings Monday, which Murray attended, took place at the same courthouse where Jackson's parents Katherine and Joe Jackson last week filed for divorce.
The pair married 60 years ago, but had been separated for several years before the divorce.
Jackson's death sent shockwaves around the world, and family and fans were outraged to learn that the man dubbed the King of Pop was administered a dangerous mix of powerful prescription drugs in the hours before his death.
Murray, who was born in Grenada and grew up in Trinidad before moving to the United States, has denied the charges against him, which were filed after a painstaking seven-month probe involving local and federal investigators.
The doctor, who was the last person to see Jackson alive, has admitted administering drugs to the singer to help him sleep shortly before his death.
He could face up to four years in prison if convicted.

Michael Jackson - Jackson Re-Files Wrongful Death Suit

Jackson Re-Files Wrongful Death Suit

MICHAEL JACKSON's father has re-filed his wrongful death lawsuit against his son's embattled physician DR. CONRAD MURRAY, alleging the medic staged an intervention with the pop star just one week before he died.
Joe Jackson's initial attempt to seek unspecified damages over the King of Pop's June 2009 death was rejected in June (10) because of an error in court documents.
He was given until 13 August (10) to amend the papers, but won a deadline extension after his legal representative Brian Oxman was injured in a freak fall.
Now the patriarch has successfully lodged his complaint - released days after a judge postponed Murrary's premilinary hearing until the New Year, which will determine if he will face a trial for administering the anaesthetic that killed the King of Pop.
The documents, obtained by TMZ.com, allege Murray and concert promoters AEG Live staged a "drug intervention" at his son's home on 18 June, 2009, intended to get him to adhere to Murray's drug regimen so he could get more sleep.
Jackson claims AEG bosses were upset the singer was missing rehearsals for his doomed This Is It concerts because of medication prescribed by other doctors, including dermatologist Arnold Klein.
The suit claims AEG bosses demanded the singer "stop seeing Dr. Arnold Klein and stop taking the drugs Klein gave to him," adding they wanted Michael to "take only the medications being given to him by Conrad Murray".
Joe Jackson has previously accused Murray of withholding vital information from the doctors and emergency service operatives who were trying to save Michael's life on the day he died.
Murray is accused of administering a fatal dose of anaesthetic Propofol to his pop star client. He has pleaded not guilty to a charge of involuntary manslaughter and is awaiting a preliminary hearing on 4 January (11) to see if he will face trial.

Michael Jackson's parents at Dr Conrad Murray hearing today: Katherine & Joe's support is too late

August 23, 2010 -- Joe and Katherine Jackson were sitting in the front row of the Conrad Murray preliminary hearings today. Proud and proper, the two appear to be there more for the cameras than the actual cause and it was quite overwhelming. Paparazzi were outside discussing the overall theme of how the two approached the proceeding and what a parade type atmosphere ensued. Surely we know that both parties love a good show, but these days, after the death of MJ and knowing that neither parent stepped in before the tragic day, it felt more fake than anything today. While no fans (or any other fool for that manner) will step out and say that the results of the day MJ passed had to do with the parents, everyone knows the two have been at odds about financial issues with their late son.
Joe Jackson had done his best in getting an allowance out of the estate and Katherine is keeping tabs as well for her part in raising the kids and living. The bottom always seems to be about cash and never about love from these too. Which, compared to the career and the stories of the King of Pop is the exact opposite of what we heard and cared to see from Michael Jackson.
Whether the Jackson's sit in the front row or watch on television, the results of the court proceedings will be the same. The difference is they will have their faces on the news once again tonight.

Dr. Conrad Murray -- No Hard Feelings
8/24/2010 5:45 AM PDT by TMZ Staff

Dr. Conrad Murray must have some pretty thick skin -- because sources close to the doc tell TMZ he's "not at all upset" with the people who were calling him a "murderer" on the way out of court yesterday.

0823-conrad-murray-tmz-ex-credit.jpg

We're told Doc Murray believes that everyone has a right to express their feelings ... even if he doesn't agree.

As we previously reported, several Michael Jackson supporters hurled insults at the doc as he left an L.A. courtroom yesterday ... right after Murray's legal team was granted access to MJ's fluid samples to aid in his defense in the involuntary manslaughter trial.

A rep for Murray's defense team tells us, "We're just happy there wasn't a blimp this time.

http://www.tmz.com/2010/08/24/dr-co...lings-death-threats-murderer-michael-jackson/

Of COURSE he's upset!!! Look at this face! He's just saying that because saying if he isn't upset, that would make him look less guilty, as if he "UNDERSTANDS" our sadness and rage. Oh, he understands all right, he understands we want the truth and that we KNOW the truth. That's why he damn happy that banner "Justice for Michael" wasn't flying around this time.

And we have the right to express our feelings? We have the right to express the TRUTH!!! These aren't no damn feelings!!! His team is trying to manipulate our words!

And if we have the right to express our "feelings", then why are you happy the banner was not there? Jerk.

and what the hell is that he's doing? Is it a fist? Because it's certainly not a thumbs up.......is it a secret sign?

You're gonna see a blimp next time, Murray!! Are we still collecting money for that for the next court dates?

.......if these charges are bumped up to murder, and then if Murray starts to speak to save his own ass, I have feeling he won't live for the trial to even finish. Or if not, he'll still be killed by someone later on. So it's really a lose-lose situation for him.

But this isn't even about that. This is about one thing: Proving that Michael wasn't a hardcore drug addict, desperately begging for drugs on the last day of his life. And those higher up. I just can't ignore them. We need to do something about that. It's just going to happen again and again.

Dr. Murray Targets Arnie Klein in MJ Death
9/15/2010 2:12 PM PDT by TMZ Staff

0914-conrad-arnie-ex-tmz.jpg

Dr. Conrad Murray is going after Michael Jackson's longtime physician and friend, Dr. Arnold Klein, claiming Klein is at least partly to blame for the singer's death and should be a defendant in Joe Jackson's wrongful death lawsuit.

In legal papers filed today and obtained by TMZ ... Dr. Murray challenges Joe Jackson's decision not to name Dr. Klein as one of the physicians allegedly responsible for his son's death.

In the new docs, Murray quotes from Joe's lawsuit, "Dr. Klein may have been medicating Michael Jackson up until or even beyond June 18, 2009, less than one week before Michael Jackson's death."

And Murray continues quoting from Joe's lawsuit that Dr. Klein "prescribed or may have over medicated Michael Jackson including to such point that AEG Live, LLC had to hire Dr. Murray in order to separate Michael Jackson from Arnold Klein."

And Murray goes on to quote Joe's lawsuit which claims "AEG Live, LLC read Michael Jackson the proverbial 'riot act' to get him to stop subjecting himself to overmedication by Dr. Arnold Klein."

So with all that, Dr. Murray concludes, "The plaintiff [Joe Jackson] does not explain why, given these allegations, Dr. Arnold Klein is not a required party to be added to accord proper relief."

In other words ... why didn't Joe sue Arnie?

As TMZ first reported, Dr. Klein shot Michael full of Demerol -- 51 injections in a 3-month span, right up until the week of his death.

Dr. Murray also points the finger at other doctors who treated Michael Jackson, citing TMZ stories revealing that 7 doctors other than Murray were fueling MJ with meds at or near the time of his death.

He can play the blame game and gun down Arnie & other 7 docs all he want,
that does not change the fact he was the one who administered propofol outside a hospital setting,
with negligence so gross
& a reckless complete disregard for a person's life to have him at murder 2
if prosecution will go that way.

Katherine Jackson's Ultimate Revenge on Dr. Murray
11/10/2010 11:20 AM PST by TMZ Staff

Katherine Jackson could get some quick payback against Dr. Conrad Murray, with the help of the Texas Medical Board ... TMZ has learned.

1110-katherine-jackson-conrad-murray-getty-tmz-ex-credit.jpg

Sources tell TMZ ...the Medical Board is itching for a full copy of Michael Jackson's medical records, for the purpose of initiating license suspension/revocation proceedings. But there's a rub ... someone needs to release the records, and the board thinks Katherine has the power to do it.

As we previously reported -- the Texas Medical Board has already prohibited Dr. Murray from administering Propofol or other heavy sedatives while he continues to practice medicine at his Houston clinic. The restriction was triggered by the criminal case in California.

No word from Katherine's camp on whether she'll play ball with the Medical Board. Sources tell us the family has a complete copy of MJ's medical file chronicling the events that led to his death.

A rep for Murray tells us his legal team has "fought any attempt by anyone to strip [Murray] of his license, and will continue to do so for the doctor." They added, "His paramount concern is for his patients, particularly the patients of his Houston clinic who desperately need his care."

I hope they succeed.

Re: All TMZ stories about Conrad Murray: Update p19 Stripper comes forward

personally i thin this is a non story created by tmz .if u read the article it really doesnt give us any news. just says that katherine has his files so the medical board could ask her if they wanted to get hold of them .why would the board need his full records to get his licence pulled when we already have the details of the diprivan etc.so imo its basically implying that yes katherine has the records so thats why she called him a druggie. its like tmz created the whole story just to reitarate (sp) that katherine has his records so knows what shes talking about re the drugs

Conrad Murray to Prosecutor: So Whatcha Got?
12/29/2010 12:40 AM PST by TMZ Staff

Dr. Conrad Murray's preliminary hearing in the Michael Jackson manslaughter case ... set for next Tuesday ... will be a one-sided affair, because TMZ has learned Murray's side won't utter a peep.

Sources connected with Murray's defense tell TMZ Murray's lawyer, Ed Chernoff, will be there to listen -- not to ask questions. Specifically, when the prosecution lays out its case, Chernoff will be looking for holes and inconsistencies.

As TMZ first reported, the prosecution will call approximately 30 witnesses, including experts and LAPD detectives, to establish Murray acted recklessly in fueling MJ with Propofol the day he died.

It's a very good bet the judge will order Murray to stand trial ... judges rarely dismiss charges after a preliminary hearing. So there's no point in Murray's lawyer playing his hand.

they show probable cause.nothing more. tmz acting like its the whole pros case. there will be no holes or inconsistances as all they have to show is murray could have committed what hes accused of

grasping at straws again. if murray knew all this is just shows his negligence even more. like to see whos gonna testify for him

Michael Jackson Concert Tours on Trial

1/1/2011 1:00 AM PST by TMZ Staff

TMZ has learned ... Michael Jackson's weakened state during various concert tours throughout his life -- as well as preparations for the London concerts that never took place -- could become powerful evidence in the defense of Dr. Conrad Murray.

Sources connected with the criminal case tell TMZ ... there's "compelling evidence" that MJ was in weakened health whenever he went on tour. Specifically, people who went on various tours -- including the "Bad" and "Dangerous" concerts -- say Jackson was frequently "dehydrated, medicated, and sleep-deprived."

Just like with Dr. Murray, Jackson had a doctor who accompanied him during rehearsals and tours, attending to his needs.

The point ... the grueling concert schedules reduced MJ to a physical mess, prone to relying on and demanding drugs to sleep.

The "This Is It" London tour was especially grueling, because AEG added dozens of concert dates for Michael, who was already in an extremely weakened state and terrified he would fail.

All of this dovetails into a defense theory ... that Jackson felt enormous pressure to rehearse for the "This Is It" tour, and when he couldn't sleep he relied on Propofol to do the trick. The defense believes when Murray walked out of the room and Jackson woke up, he accidentally infused himself with a fatal dose of the drug out of frustration and fear.

http://www.tmz.com/2011/01/01/michael-jackson-conrad-murray-concert-tour-bad-dangerous-dehydrated/

grasping at straws again. if murray knew all this is just shows his negligence even more. like to see whos gonna testify for him

exactly.. if he knew MJ was a mess, why continue to drug him up? why not go to AEG and say that his patient is a mess and can't do these shows?. He needs help. If Murray knowingly allowed his patient to participate with these rehearsals knowing that he was 'a mess' that makes him even more negligent.

Like they didn't have enough time in a year and 1/2 to think about what stories to put out. AEG is not blameless, as demonstrated in other threads, and this indirect blaming on folks for trying to work this mess out is vile. His defense ain't stupid.

Like Elusive said, this paints the picture of an even more guilty Murray for saying nothing about Jackson's detering health (chronic insomnia) under the strenuous circumstances they invoke with AEG and past history, and drugged him to death instead. No matter how one looks at it, Murray was in the wrong and he knew it firsthand when desperately trying to clean the death scene and calling 911 after 25 minutes.

Could Alvarez be a witness for Murray's defense, didn't he help him with clearing the death scene? Plus, lots of money-hungry folks would be willing to testify for anything that makes them 'fatter', people should expect anything from this trial, like previous trials showed.

'This Is It' Producer -- Star Witness in MJ Prelim
25 minutes ago by TMZ Staff

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Michael Jackson's producer/director for the "This Is It" tour will be a star witness for the prosecution in Dr. Conrad Murray's preliminary hearing which begins today ... sources tell TMZ.

Our sources tell us ... Kenny Ortega will testify that on June 19, 2009 -- a week before MJ died -- Michael complained he was cold, had the shakes and was unable to perform ... so the rehearsal was canceled.

The next day -- June 20 -- an emergency meeting was held at Michael's home. Kenny Ortega, several big wigs from AEG, Michael, and Dr. Conrad Murray were present. We're told the meeting was "intense, loud and argumentative." Kenny read Michael the riot act, imploring him to take better care of himself because the tour was imminent.

Ortega will testify, during the meeting, Dr. Murray said some "terrible things," showing a lack of concern and respect for Michael. Our sources would not reveal specifics, but we're told it's "damaging" to Murray.

Ortega will also testify that on June 23 and 24 -- the day before Jackson died -- Michael did a complete turnaround in rehearsals, wowing the backup dancers and others present with his moves and singing.

Ortega's testimony is important, because prosecutors will argue MJ was fine before Murray began pumping him with drugs the day he died.

i totally agree with you!"This is about one thing: Proving that Michael wasn't a hardcore drug addict, desperately begging for drugs on the last day of his life."and we know this is not true!so we shouls defend Michael all the way!

 This is true. Take me for example, I am having very hard time with money right now, the economy is still very bad for me, I would love to be able to just catch a flight to Los Angeles, but can't afford it. To drive would be a strain on me too. I bet this is a reason that fans from other countries can't come over to the USA either..?? Like during the trial in 2005 at the Santa Maria courthouse in California I was able to be there,I had more money then, things wasn't as bad in the economy. I saw fans from like everywhere.. from Italy,Ireland,UK,USA,Australia,France,Greece,Germany..etc.. Just fans from everywhere..gathered in Santa Maria,Ca. It was special to see so many united together.
I wish things will change and myself and everyone will be able to find a way, a means to get to Los Angeles,Ca. for/if the trial. There's power in numbers.. and the lyric by Michael "There's Nothing That Can't Be Done If We Raise Our Voice As One"

There is no defence, and Murrey seems ok with coming off as incompetent and negligent, which will get him a slap on the wrist at worse, better than coming of as a murderer. Alvarez could and should have ignored Murrey and called 911 before he started to conseal evidence, as we know now it would still have been too late to save Micheal but he wasn't to know that at the time. I think he was complicit in whatever happened to Michael.

and that's probably why he was crying and getting choked up during his testimony. They were his bodyguards, supposed to protect MJ, and here MJ is dead in his own house. If anything the bodyguards should've been watching Murray.

They were not even allowed in the damn house how were they going to watch him? I mean really

Dr. Murray Patient -- Med Board Made 'Poor Choice'

One of Conrad Murray's longtime patients is "pissed" with Judge Michael Pastor's decision to yank the Doc's medical license ... telling TMZ the Judge is "preventing a phenomenal doctor from working."

Robert Day -- a patient at Murray's Vegas practice -- says the judge made a "100% poor choice" because Murray "just wanted to help MJ."

Day adds, "[Murray] is the most compassionate reserved gentle giant you'll ever meet."

As we previously reported, Judge Pastor ordered the suspension of Murray's license as a condition to the Doc's bail in the Michael Jackson manslaughter case.
