Luxe Life - Michael Jackson Vegas casino a thriller of a concept

by Robin Leach

Writer Ethan Smith claims that Michael now lives 60 miles from the Vegas strip in a rural compound in Pahrump where he has a home recording studio and is home-schooling his three young children. I’ve learned he’s getting ready to release two new singles this August and September and he’s currently finishing them and promised he’ll even make some personal appearances to promote them, one of them would be right here in Vegas, just off the Strip.

Re: New Singles to be Released - August & September?

Oh Lord! That title is very misleading.

The ONLY person talking about new singles being released is Robin Leach. He doesn't even say where he got that information from.

I mean, WHO told Robin Leach there would be two new singles coming from Michael Jackson?

Michael Jacksons New Record OUT at the end of this Month

by Me

Ola claims he is Michaels best friend, and says the new record will be released this Month. He also claims Michael will do a new world tour begining in August. He will invite all his fans to Neverland, not at once, but over a three year time. About 1000 a day.

Re: New Singles to be Released - August & September?

he claims his source as

;)
Ethan Smith is the person who wrote the original article for The Wall Street Journal. And in that original article Ethan Smith did not mention anything about 2 new singles, I believe Robin Leach added that information on his own.

Typical of a person who writes a GOSSIP COLUMN!

This may well be a controlled leak by Michael. The timing would be about right wouldn't it?

Pop prince Michael Jackson has been thrown an economic lifeline, which could untangle his messy financial fortunes and simultaneously
land him new concert dates and even, hard to believe, his own “Thriller” casino!
Once again you’re all saying I’ve lost my marbles and daydreaming in 96-point Gothic Bold headlines! NO! No less an authoritative voice of
respectability than the prestigious Wall Street Journal is weighing in with the breathless monetary minutia. Better still is that both the
New York Times and United Press International followed up with their “Chronicles of Colony Capital.”

Colony’s founder, Thomas Barrack, is the major shareholder of his financial equity group that also owns our Las Vegas Hilton -– where
Elvis Presley used to perform! Luxe Life had reported that Michael, about to turn 50, was in danger of “crushing” under the $23 million
weight of debt he owed hedge fund Fortress Investment Group secured by the cash-strapped notorious Neverland ranch. Barrack and
Colony paid off the debt and now have admitted they are in negotiations with the former “King of Pop.”
Says Barrack: “We bought the note. We’re talking about refinancing Neverland, recapitalizing Michael in addition to discussing other
business opportunities and mutual interests.” Even Michael’s spokesman confirmed the talks: “We’re moving forward and looking to
do some positive things in the future.”

Writer Ethan Smith claims that Michael now lives 60 miles from the Vegas strip in a rural compound in Pahrump
where he has a home recording studio and is home-schooling his three young children. I’ve learned he’s getting
ready to release two new singles this August and September and he’s currently finishing them and promised he’ll
even make some personal appearances to promote them, one of them would be right here in Vegas, just off the Strip.

More intriguing though to us than all the “dance of the suits” is the very real possibility that Barrack and Colony have convinced Michael to
make a serious show-business comeback –- and the WSJ states, obviously from its deep well-informed sources, that they are urging
Michael to emerge from his holed up state to stage a residency performance at one of its gambling or entertainment properties! I last met
with Michael in the Wing Lei restaurant at Wynn Las Vegas, where he plotted a comeback with American Idol Simon Cowell’s British
entertainment partner, mogul Simon Fuller. He agreed to perform a 10-night run of shows at the W2 arena in London but backed out later.
However the unexpected strong success of his 25th anniversary edition of the Thriller album may have sparked his desire to work again
although the number wizards point out that his share of SONY/ATV Music Publishing, which has the Beatles library is
worth over $500-million.

Knowledgeable sources say Michael has been presented with three choices for his comeback: a) a specially built theater
at the Hilton, where he would appear on a similar long-term, commitment as Elton John or even Barry Manilow at the Hilton;
b) a show built around all of Michael’s hits similar to Cirque du Soleil’s show Love, which is built around the Beatles music and
c) a high-profile charity concert that would promote a new Thriller casino that Colony would develop from Michael’s 10-year’s
worth of ideas. One or all of these would be blockbusters although there are skeptics. One former Jackson business pal
commented: “Much will be talked about but nothing will ever come to pass because Michael simply doesn’t have the strength,
stamina and dedication for such a big commitment.”

The New York Times said no deal was yet in place but UPI reported that Michael is seriously considering the long-term Vegas gig. I
ts also interesting to note that Colony is also a major shareholder in the Station Casinos chain – and Luxe Life reported
more than a week ago UFC president Dana White promised a startling development with his furious fight league.
Yesterday he confirmed that Station Casinos co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta was resigning as president of the gaming
company to become chairman and CEO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Michael was a guest of the UFC at its
most recent MGM Grand battle.
Luxe Life will keep you posted on all developments in the ongoing saga of both Michael and the new face of the UFC!

If he was to do a Vegas show, he'll be like Elton. I don't think he'll look right with a Cirque de Soleil show... Aren't those guys usually the one who contort their body in mid-air?

I saw their sh*t on Bravo so I know what I'm talking about. ;)

Oh I believe that anything is possible. I just don't see a "controlled" leak coming from Robin Leach. LOL!

I mean, I can see it coming from one of the people he is working with. Especially since they are asked about Michael in dang near every interview. LOL! I can see, let's say, Ne-Yo "leaking" something on purpose.

An on purpose "leak" from Ne-Yo would get more exposure, don't you think?

Re: New Singles to be Released - August & September?

well we know there will be a tour. Signature told Richard and Judy They WERE doing the tour with Michael. And they wouldnt say that unless they were sure they were going to do it!!!. As for the album he told us he was doing studio work at the Jacksons event. But even so Robin Leach has been photographed with Michael so it doesnt nesecarilly mean he knows everything. But considering Michael said he was working in the studio we never know and we know how Michael likes to suprise us.

Lets just wait and see before we jump to any conclusions whether it is true or not.

MIKE WEATHERFORD: Calamity to reunite her original Cowpunk

Early adapters to the Review-Journal's entertainment blog, Vegas Voice, found (on May 14) that I basically made fun of a popular theory: Michael Jackson could be forced to work the Las Vegas Hilton as an indentured servant, because the Hilton's owner, Colony Capital, is now carrying the paper on his Neverland Ranch.

But a June 13 story in the Wall Street Journal wiped a wee bit of the smirk off my face. On one hand, the article negates the whole theory by claiming Colony wants Jackson to sell the ranch, which would then eliminate the company's $23 million strong arm.

But if their partnership nonetheless continued, one option discussed in the apparently well-sourced story addresses my biggest skepticism about the whole idea: that Jackson lacks the work ethic to perform the 200 or so shows of a Cher or Barry Manilow.

I hadn't considered the idea, as the Journal reports, of a "Love"-style revue based on *****'s music: "Mr. Jackson wouldn't be a regular part of the performance but would appear for 20 to 30 performances a year, possibly with his brothers."
Be very afraid.

Mike Weatherford's entertainment column appears Thursdays and Sundays. Contact him at 702-383-0288 or e-mail him at mweatherford@reviewjournal.com.

Day 135: What the media don't show about Michael Jackson the business man

Lady GaGa Revives The Art Of Pop Music"
Jun 09, 2008

Jun 9 2008 4:36 PM EDT

"Lady GaGa Brings Her Artistic Vision Of Pop Music To New Album -- And A New Kids Song"

The 'Just Dance' singer adds interactive multimedia and fashion to her '70s-inspired dance music.

By Chris Harris, with reporting by Kim Stolz

She may not have been alive during the 1970s, but Lady GaGa's forthcoming debut album, The Fame, is an ode of sorts to the Me Decade, as is the video for the LP's first single, "Just Dance."

The New York-born theatrical dance-pop upstart said she didn't set out to emulate the sounds of the '70s. She just started writing music, incorporating her lifelong love of theater, fashion and pop into the material. The end result is a record that sounds like it could have come from a different period altogether.

"It's not really rocket science," joked Lady GaGa, who will release her debut LP this summer through Akon's Konvict Muzik, during a recent chat with MTV News. "The music is intended to inspire people to feel a certain way about themselves, so they'll be able to encompass, in their own lives, a sense of inner fame that they can project to the world, and the carefree nature of the album is a reflection of that aura. I like to funnel interesting ideas to the rest of the world through a pop lens."

Lady GaGa, who did a brief stint as a go-go dancer following a premature withdrawal from New York University, said she'd like to revive pop music, returning the one thing that's been missing from the equation since the heyday of 'NSYNC and Britney Spears.

"What has been lost in pop music these days is the combination of the visual and the imagery of the artist, along with the music — and both are just as important," she said. "So, even though the carefree nature of the album is something that people are latching onto right away about my stuff, I hope they will take notice of the interactive, multimedia nature of what I'm trying to do. The things I like to do and the theatrics, I like to incorporate them into the choreography. With my music, it's a party, it's a lifestyle, and it's about making the lifestyle the forefront of the music."

Lady GaGa's rise to prominence didn't happen overnight, of course. After dropping out of college, she said she decided to make a new life for herself. She found she was "super-uninspired, and I just wanted to do it alone, so it was me and my piano and three jobs, and I played every club, bombed in every club, and I worked my way up and put this performance-art show together, and here we are."
Since signing with Interscope and teaming with Akon, Lady GaGa has written tracks for the likes of Tami Chynn and the Pussycat Dolls. And while she's focused, for the moment, on her own career, she was recently asked to collaborate with one of her favorite artists, and it was an opportunity she couldn't pass up.

"I'm a huge New Kids fan," Lady GaGa gushed as she talked about appearing on the track "Big Boy/Big Girl" from the New Kids on the Block's forthcoming comeback LP, which is being produced her friend Red1. "He played them some of my records, and they said, 'Who is this chick?' " she explained. "So, I met up with the guys, and we actually ended up writing another song together. I've been blessed to be able to work with some top-tier producers and artists."

Lyrically, The Fame touches on a number of different topics, Lady GaGa said, but the record, as a whole, is a concept piece.

"This idea of 'the fame' runs through and through," she said. "Basically, if you have nothing — no money, no fame — you can still feel beautiful and dirty rich. It's about making choices, and having references — things you pull from your life that you believe in. It's about self-discovery and being creative. The record is slightly focused, but it's also eclectic."

The record's also very fashion-centric, which was something Lady GaGa couldn't have avoided.

"Fashion is everything," she said. "When I'm writing music, I'm thinking about the clothes I want to wear on stage. It's all about everything altogether — performance art, pop performance art, fashion. For me, it's everything coming together and being a real story that will bring back the super-fan. I want to bring that back. I want the imagery to be so strong that fans will want to eat and taste and lick every part of us.

Music History for June 19 (I just have to add this because I think it is incredible):

1988 - Over 3,000 East Germans gathered at the Berlin Wall to hear MICHAEL JACKSON. Jackson was performing a concert on the other side of the wall in West Berlin.

i believe signature, and i had a strong feeling (an incling lol) that michael contacted them because of what they told the fans and on GMTV as well. that is great news it shows that michael really is planning a tour and it will be great to see 'Signature' on michael's stage...even better with michael.

Re: New Singles to be Released - August & September?

It's actually possible, even probable.. Because there will be several singles before the album.

Re: New Singles to be Released - August & September?

well they said they were gonna be on his tour i mean i dnt know how much clearer you can get than that.

So you heard the show? I didn't and what was first transcribed here from Richard and Judy did not have Signature saying they were going to tour with him. It had them answering a question about touring with a more general something was going to happen reply. There was a second hand report of them saying tour earlier but it was not a quote.

So I am asking again if they actually said the words tour on Jim and Judy because otherwise I think fans are here what they expect to hear. Mind you, I believe he will tour of sorts but not based just on what I heard someone who watched the show say.

thanks for the news and mentionings today.. it's greatly appreciated

Re: New Singles to be Released - August & September?

However the unexpected strong success of his 25th anniversary edition of the Thriller album may have sparked his desire to work again -------------- Why is this a surprise? I have said many times that you can not go by what the media say or what a FEW people say. When REAL FANS and PEOPLE love you, they will ALWAYS LOVE YOU no matter what the media say because MOST people know the media is full of bull. Look at Britney Spears, R kelly, etc. ALL OF THESE celebs are still doing good regardless to their problems (and MIchael is more popular, more in demand and desired than these two celebs). I have said this many times. And I do not care how many people say they do not like Michael Jackson. These people are often liers, bandwagon jumpers who go along with what they think is the flow, or just being plain haters in order to be difficult. IT NEVER FAILS. If he does Vegas, Michael show will sell out in minutes. This is why I never understand Michael not touring AMerica after BAD. People know he has the goods still and we will come if he allow us a chance. Stop letting a few idoits make you think that everyone is against Mike. NOT true by a long shot.

Re: New Singles to be Released - August & September?

I know it's so petty but it's hard for me to pay attention to the article as soon as I read.

Re: New Singles to be Released - August & September?

An on purpose "leak" from Ne-Yo would get more exposure, don't you think?

Only if Ne-Yo's stuff is good enough. Maybe Michael will not use it for his new album...he is extra extra picky, don't you know...

And I WOULD LOVE to see Michael for a short public appearance in Las Vegas (or somewhere else). I just wanna see him again.
