Your Last MJ-Related Purchase

Re: Your last MJ purchase

I bought "This Is It" on Blu-ray today. I really enjoyed it. Was very impressed by the surround sound mix. I'm a big fan of music in 5.1 and very few studio albums are released in surround sound, so concert films are usually my best opportunity to listen to music in 5.1. I watched all of the extras as well. Overall it was well worth the $14. The main feature was fantastic and there was plenty of bonus material. I have a feeling I'll be posting in this thread a lot as I plan to buy a dozen or so Michael Jackson releases before the month is over.

Re: Your last MJ purchase

Finally bought Michael Jackson: Before He Was King by Todd Gray.

Just got back from the record store. Traded in my old Dangerous CD and picked up several MJ CDs. Here's what I got:

• Dangerous (Special Edition)
• Blood On The Dance Floor
• Invincible
• Number Ones
• The Essential (2CD)
• Immortal

I've never heard Invincible before. Curious to see what I think of it. Mostly interested in "The Essential" for the pre-Off The Wall material. Blood On the Dance Floor seems interesting. I've never bought a remix CD from a pop artist before. All of my remix CDs are from bands like Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, etc.

No idea what to expect from Immortal. I didn't see the show or even know about it until the other day. Guess I missed out.

Re: Your last MJ purchase

"Blood on the Dance Floor" is a great song; in my opinion, it deserved a full album, not just five tracks and some remixes. The music video's pretty impressive as well...

Your last MJ purchase

I bought Xscape on CD today at my local record store (standard 8 track version). I hadn't bought a Michael Jackson CD in 20 years. I was a fan as a kid, but never a hardcore fan. I grew up in the 80s. Everybody listened to MJ. I still have the old albums, but hadn't paid much attn to MJ over the last couple decades.

Anyway, I heard a song from Xscape at a restaurant the other day and really enjoyed it, so I decided to buy the album. I ended up loving the whole record. So I'm definitely going to go back and check out some of the CDs I've missed over the last 20 years.

Have fun ??

Re: Your last MJ purchase

Since Blood on the Dance Floor was released as Blood on the Dance Floor/History in the Mix and the slash is usually used for compilations containing two recordings, it makes me wonder if at some point a 5 song EP was being considered and an 8 song remix EP was being considered and they just ended up being combined into one release.

Used to be pretty common to combine two EPs onto one disc to have a full length album to sell.

I wasn't following MJ news at the time, but were there ever any rumors of a remix EP or a studio EP before it was known there was going to be a full length with both?

I haven't a clue where you're from, but there is still another show in Las Vegas called Michael Jackson One. It's another Cirque du Soleil show dedicated to Michael so it's along the lines of Immortal I think. Soundtrack hasn't been released for that, but they have a super cool merch shop dedicated to MJ next to the theatre! I wanna go to Las Vegas myself so I can see MJ One and Beatles LOVE :p

Re: Your last MJ purchase

Didn't realize I'd been made a full member and could edit my profile. I'm from Miami, FL, but now live in Winter Park, FL, which is about 20 minutes from Disney World. I'll update my info.

I asked in a different thread how similar "One" and "Immortal" are, but I don't think I got an answer. I did go to Vegas a few times to wrestle and saw Beatles LOVE one of the times that I went, but that was a very long time ago. Only time I went to Vegas just for fun was last year when I went to some Guns N' Roses concerts at the Hard Rock. When did the "One" show start? I wonder if I could have caught it on that trip. Wish I knew. One interesting thing about rediscovering MJ after so many years is there is all of this great content to consume now. Kind of like waiting for a TV show to end and then marathoning through all of the episodes.

It came out 2013! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Jackson:_One I can't really talk about the differences as I'm not sure but looking up the trailers for both might show the difference?

Re: Your last MJ purchase

Today I bought:

The Ultimate Collection 4CD+DVD
Vision 3DVD
Michael CD

Was really impressed with the packaging of The Ultimate Collection and Vision. The books were great. Very thorough.

Re: Your last MJ purchase

I have bought Bal a Versailles fragrance. Does it count a purchase related to Mike? I guess it does :)

Re: Your last MJ purchase

Yes I would say so.
Brought the same thing
Bal a Versailles
It's nice to have, comforting.

Re: Your last MJ purchase

A chrome car decal (Mike on his toes silhouette). :punk:

Wooohooo! That's whats up! I gotta have that! :cheeky:

Well, my last purchase was.... hmmm, had to be the Xscape Deluxe.
Yep, thats it.

Imagine how awesome a silver "Michael on his toes" figurine would be on the front of a car hood (I do not know the English word for it ). Well, I guess it would be ripped off within minutes! lol

Re: Your last MJ purchase

I think you mean a hood ornament?

But that would be awesome. But to keep it from being ripped off, make it removable?
Then you would have to remember to take it off every time you were away from your car.
I guess that would get real tired real quick.

:ermm: ....the world we live in.

Re: Your last MJ purchase

Re: Your last MJ purchase

I recently got a DVD copy of Number Ones for redeeming some Flybuys points (Commercial reward system here in New Zealand).

The version has an off the wall era MJ on the cover.

Re: Your last MJ purchase

I just ordered Scream/Childhood single, you rock my world single and Moonwalker bluray.

I just found this forum. I felt so alone in my Michael endeavours. This is amazing. I had no idea so many people still love Michael. I can't wait for all of the new upcoming projects. Thanks for keeping my updated!

Re: Your last MJ purchase

My last one was the original Black or White single I found in a secondhand store, (mainly bought it for the instrumental)
and the hardcover Commemorative Rolling Stone that came out in 2009.

Re: Your last MJ purchase

My best guess would be aliexpress they have a ton of MJ phone cases!
